An alarm blared in Avol's room followed by a loud smack, which completely shut=off the alarm. Today, Avol will be going to school for the first time, although he would be going alone.
It's already been a month since Avol asked his parents the favor of sponsoring Gabriella and Isabella education. When they went to the orphanage and inquired their whereabouts, the matron informed them that the twins had already been adopted about five years ago and although, they come to visit her from time to time, she rarely sees them in the area anymore. Although Avol said for some time, he quickly got over it on the notion that if they were fated to meet then they would meet again.
Avol got up from his bed and got out of his clothes before going into the shower. If you look at his body, you would see that he had a toned yet lean body like a swimmer. Though he looked lean, each of his muscles were dense and packed more energy than an average teenager.
After taking his bath, he dried himself and his hair before getting dressed in a blue long sleeve shirt with black jeans trouser. He also put on the ring that members of the Lancaster main family always wore before wearing a pair of black socks and blue Allstars. He then picked his bag that he had already prepared the day before with all necessary materials and instruments, slinging over his left shoulder before going down for breakfast.
When he arrived downstairs, he placed his bag on the ground, leaning on the leg of the dining table, before he sat on the dining chair. He just waited for about two minutes before his father also came out, dressed in a black suit and brown leather brogues. They just said 'Good morning' to each other and asked about each other's night before Ariana stepped into the dining hall with their breakfast. After the table was set, they began eating.
When they were done eating, Avol cleared the table and decided to do the dishes. When he was done with the dishes, he washed his hands and dried them, before leaving the kitchen.
After that, Avol and Adrian went to the garage to get the car. After they entered and sat, Adrian told Avol to wear his seatbelt before starting the car.
They live in Uptown Washington while the school is located at about twenty kilometers west from their house. While on the way to the school Adrian and Avol were talking.
(A/N: Sorry. Don't know many places in America, so the America of my book is quite AU.)
"Son, behave in school and always listen to the teachers. Even if you know the answer to a question, you don't always have to be the first to answer and wait for others to give it a try. Who knows, the answer that you might have may not be entirely wrong and will let your teachers down due to overconfidence."
"Okay dad."
Thinking of learning at school, Avol can't help but feel sad that he will have to deal with all sorts of crybabies and arrogant kids. He was also sad that he wouldn't be able to attend school with his friends, Gabriella and Isabella.
Adrian just sighed knowing that Avol would be quite a handful for the teachers at the school. Avol didn't just spend the last month at home doing nothing. Since he didn't have friends to meet, he decided to study and brush up on the curriculum to have a head start in his academics and also to not stay idle.
After a while, the two of them arrived at the school gate. When they got out of the car, they started to walk in the direction of Avol's classroom as he had already collected his schedule and knew where his class was. As for Adrian, he was going to meet the principal to talk 'business'.
When he reached his class, they knocked and the door was answered by a red-haired woman who looked to be in her late twenties or early thirties who seemed to be waiting for him.
Avol was told to enter and was made to stand by her side before she began to speak.
"Good morning class. Today we have an extra student joining us. Please introduce yourself."
Avol was pondering on how to introduce himself without coming out awkward, but his teacher misunderstood and thought he was being shy and spoke with a smile.
"Now now. No need to be shy. We are all peers here, right?" The class then answered.
"Yes!" The teacher then said.
"Alright young man. You may speak now."
"Good morning. My name is Avol Risley. I'm twelve years old and I like to read educative stuff, manga and light novels as well as watch anime. Thanks for having me." The reason he wasn't using the Lancaster family name was because he and his parents agreed to use his mother's maiden name instead so as not to attract unnecessary attention.
The teacher then commented.
"My, what a nice introduction. Guess it's my turn. Can't let myself be outdone by you little kids now, can I? Alright class, my name is Danielle Romakov and I'll be your homeroom teacher for the next three years. Hope we get along nicely." She then pointed Avol to two girls who looked alike and spoke.
"Mr. Risley please sit between the two Misses St.Cross. At least, you can help curb or reduce their notoriety. They're quite the troublesome lot."
Avol looked at the people that Miss Romakov was talking about and when he saw them, his eyes widened as they were Gabriella and Isabella, his first and only friends. Although, he kept up with them, they only told him that they would surprise him when he goes to school, but he just shoved it to the back of his mind because he thought it wasn't anything significant.
When the twins say his surprised face, they giggled and then gave space for him to place his desk and chair. When he sat down, Gabriella then spoke first.
"Hello Avol, my name is Daniella St.Cross. it's nice to meet you…again. Hehe." She then continued giggling. Isabella then reprimanded her.
"Stop it Gabi. It's because of you that we're always caught and punished when you're the only one causing trouble."
Gabriella, now Gabi, then looked at her and then sneered.
"Heh! Bella. It's because of me? What about the other day you put bubblegum on the class bully's chair before he sat down?"
Isabella, now Bella, just turned her head away, embarrassed that she had been called out. But Gabi refused to let it go and continued.
"What about the other time you poured ink inside that troublesome girl's locker. And the other time you--------" Bella immediately interrupted her.
"it's alright, ok? I get it. I have my own fair share of trouble making. You don't have to go about announcing it to everyone." She said before snorting and turning her head away in indignation.
Avol, seeing the twins bickering just rolled his eyes before smiling happy to see them happy and healthy as well as jovial as usual. When the twins saw his smile, they were quite mesmerized and couldn't help but marvel at how he had developed over the past five years that they'd been away from each other. Then Bella asked with an indignant snort.
"Hmph! what's got you all smiley all of a sudden?"
Avol just shook his head and replied.
"It's nothing. Just happy to see that you guys are well and as happy as ever."
Bella, hearing this just lowered her head while muttering.
"You don't get to say that all of a sudden, you fool."
Avol who only heard her slight muttering just asked.
"What did you say?" she then replied.
"Who wants to see you, you idiot. Hmph!!"
Gabi just smiled knowing her sister and smiled. She was about to tease her twin when the teacher interrupted their discussion.
"Miss Gabriella, Miss Isabella and Mr. Risley. Class is about to begin, so please leave your talk for when we're done with the class, okay?"
The three of them answered with a chorused yes and like that class started for the day.
