Geir was losing high amounts of blood from the stump of his right arm. I could see him pale from blood loss and lose his focus.
The falling rain felt as if water buckets were poured out above us. The Mana contained in the rain slowly filled our Mana-Cores and healed our surface wounds. But Geir's cut-off arm was too big to be healed from just the Mana in his Core and the rain.
„You have 2 choices, big guy. One, you surrender and live or two you fight and die by my hands." I said to Geir.
I waited for his response but the only thing Geir did was hold his spear's blade next to his cut-off arm and press it against the wound.
The blade started glowing with a blueish hue. Then, a sizzling sound came from the blade and Geir started to scream out in pain.
„AAAAH!"
His scream was deep-toned, like a viking. The sound waves strong enough to vibrate our innards.
When Geir removed the blade from his wound, I could see it fully closed, almost as if it was cauterized.
„What did you do?!" I asked him, surprised.
„The gods' spear is perfect." He answered, leaving me only speculating.
Slowly, Geir's natural color returned. Both me and him were soaked and the flat ground was smooth enough to make us lose footing.
‚He wants to fight.' I realized and looked at the Bearers from Piranha School. Mete, Amar, Mul-Soo and Lorenzo were standing next to Luca's dead body. I could clearly see their sad faces, even in the dark night were only the moonlight illuminated our surroundings.
Tsuki was a few meters behind them and was solely focusing on me. She held her hands together in front of her chest and was visibly cold. Her black hoodie was almost glued to her skin due to it being wet. She looked a bit disappointed. Disappointed by the fact that her intuition was right again. That must have had been a huge pressure on her mind, knowing that someone was going to die, but not being able to prevent it from happening.
I was sure that I had to fight Geir alone. I had the advantage over him, and even though I did, I wasn't sure if I was able to defeat him. He was by far the strongest Mana-Wielder I'd faced.
I again took on my low anti-spear stance. He readied himself too. His glacier-blue eyes radiated confidence and fear, even though he had dominated us not long ago.
I made the first move. Using Supreme-Control, I made sure to increase the gravitational pull on myself to have a better grip on the flat and wet grounds of the Plaza.
I approached the still standing Geir and waited for him to make a move. As I expected, he thrusted his spear forward, holding it at end of the handle. I held up my Katana with my right hand, reinforced my left hand with Mana and perfectly pushed the spear to the right. I spun right, right in front of the unguarded Geir and slashed at his stomach. A quick back-step allowed him to dodge my blade and make it collide with his spear's wooden handle.
Our first exchange ended with my momentum completely gone and him only moving a meter back from his previous position. I could see how Geir had had martial-arts training growing up, just like I had.
We stood 5 meters apart, staring into each other's eyes. My light-brown and his glacier-blue eyes seemed to clash and fight for the upper hand. It was truly a fight between 2 warriors who fought with the new developed abilities of Mana.
We didn't move for seconds. Both of us thought of our next moves like we were playing Chess or Shogi.
I then noticed something that changed my whole tactic. ‚I didn't see any noticeable Salan ability!' I realized. ‚Was he not a Bearer? But how?'
„Aren't you a Bearer?" I asked.
„I am." He responded.
„Didn't you use your Salan ability?"
„I did." He answered and pointed his spear at my Katana.
I looked at my Katana. The blade was chipped, right in the middle of it. I was shocked and sure I'd cleanly struck his spear's handle.
„How?" I questioned.
„Your sword's weak point." Geir answered.
Considering how he pointed at my chipped Katana after I asked him about his Salan ability, his ability might be.. „Weakness?"
„Yes, indeed. I have an ability where the Mana guides me to everything's weak point." He explained.
After his revelation, I simply laughed. ‚Was it his arrogance or confidence? Why would someone reveal their ability to the opponent?' Questioning his intelligence wasn't the only reason I laughed. I laughed for 2 reasons. First reason being his intelligence and the second reason being how versatile Salan abilities could be. It was a laugh filled with mockery and surprise.
I laughed for a few seconds, without being interrupted. ‚I needed a good laugh.' I thought.
„Why did you revealing your Salan ability? Do you want to lose?" I asked.
The confusing look on Geir's face was gone after my question, he obviously wondered why I laughed and now that he'd gotten his answer, his expression turned to normal.
„It won't change anything. You dodged my hits even before you knew what my ability was. Maybe you'll try harder now." He answered and shrugged his shoulders.
He dashed at me right after he spoke. The wet floor was disadvantageous for him, but he still pounced at me with full force.
I had to dodge a series of stabs, swings and grabs but it was easier compared to when we fought before it rained. With every parry and dodge, our Mana-Cores both drained and we started losing speed and strength. The Mana filled rain couldn't keep up with the amount we were using while fighting, so some moves were not reinforced with Mana.
‚I need to end this!' I thought.
The idea that Mana was just a tool came to mind, and without it, even a Bearer was just a normal man.
‚If I can drain enough of his Mana, I can just shoot him with Melina's revolver!' I realized.
The revolver was always tucked into my pants, right in front of my stomach. Easy to reach and if not used while in a fight, it could be quite unexpected even if it was visible the whole time.
‚I need to bet on his arrogance and forgetfulness. If he forgets that he isn't bulletproof, I might actually win this.'
Our exchanges continued, my blade started to crack and my joints started to hurt. His ability was working pretty good on me, but he was where I needed him to be.
One tenth of my Core was filled with my Mana when the rain stopped. Geir and I were both panting, we had been fighting for several minutes. Each exchange could decide on life and death even if Tsuki's intuition told me otherwise.
I put my chipped Katana back into its scabbard and took out both Shotos. A style change would throw him off his game. I'd been accustomed to his fighting style while he had to be careful with my new short-ranged melee style.
The ground was less slippy now that it stopped raining, so I used Supreme-Control and made myself ‚lighter'. I then pushed my body forward with my legs and flew at Geir with an incredible speed.
Geir couldn't react, so the only thing he did was protect his vitals with his spear's handle.
I swung my Shotos at his arms, left a shallow cut and when I got past him, I straightened myself and pulled out my revolver with my right hand.
'Hammer down, from rear sight to the front side, then…'
*BANG*BANG*BANG*
I shot 3 times. I aimed at his upper chest and head.
I saw Geir's limbs go numb and fall. He dropped his spear and his head fell onto his chest, but he was still standing.
I unsheathed my Katana after I tucked the revolver into my pants again. I closed the distance to Geir. I couldn't see whether the bullets had penetrated his skin because of his wet clothes. I needed to make sure he was unconscious or dead.
