When it started to rain, Mul-Soo used his Salan ability to create an umbrella made of water that would turn the raindrops into Mana and then fill his Core.
I tried staying as far ways as possible from him because I, and especially Niam, didn't trust Mul-Soo. But when I got the chance to stay dry, I got closer to him.
Minutes passed and my Salan ability was working at full speed. My intuition told me that the tragedy wound still happen, no matter what.
Mul-Soo looked worried. „The Fire-Wall will be put out by the rain." He said.
Minutes passed and it happened exactly as Mul-Soo said. The fire was put out just when we could see the tragedy. The Fire-Bearer who introduced himself as Luca earlier today was now impaled by a very tall, light-blue eyed man wielding a spear.
Then a dark figure flew above him and cut off his right underarm.
„AAAHH!"
I heard two screams after that. One from the tall guy and the other from Lorenzo, Luca's older brother. Lorenzo immediately jumped over to his brother, the other Fire-Bearers and Mul-Soo followed.
I was just standing there, being drenched in the rain and feeling cold. The moonlight illuminated the Sky Plaza to a degree, but it was still dark.
Lorenzo's sobs filled the Plaza and another scream by the tall guy got my attention.
I looked at Niam who was also drenched and hurt. He didn't seem to be in pain, but my Salan ability told me otherwise. He looked at me, then the tall guy again. But before his facial expression could hide in the darkness, I saw a small frown on his face. I was confused by the frown, it didn't look like it was caused by the pain, but from something else, but before I could even realize it, I was shaking. Helplessness and weakness overtook me as I realized that my Salan ability was right yet again. Not once did something „not happen" when my intuition told me it would. This ability was very useful, yet so useless.
I neared Mul-Soo's group. They all looked sad and angry but everyone except Mul-Soo was totally exhausted and injured from fighting. The heat emitted by Luca's body was enough to evaporate the rain that fell on him. Multiple times a second a sizzling sound that was mixed with Lorenzo's sobs entered my ears.
My head spun and I felt sick. I fell to my knees and just listened to what was happening.
„Lorenzo…It's okay…. We're here for you…"
„Move, so I can regulate his body temperature."
„I hope Niam can take care if him or we are all dead."
Minutes passed and the Bearers from Piranha School consoled Lorenzo and themselves while Niam was fighting for his, my and their lives.
I looked up at the moon. Raindrops falling straight into my eyes from time to time. ‚The moon is so far away from the earth, yet it is visible and as influential. Without the Moon, the earth would be a lot more different.'
As I watched the moon, the rain stopped and I looked back down. The Bearers covered Luca's wound and face with cloths and a few of them prayed.
I looked back at the now panting Niam. He looked tired and exhausted, so did the tall guy. I tried using my Salan ability but this time, I unconsciously didn't want it to work.
I watched as Niam held his two Shotos in his hands and dashed at the the big guy with incredible speed. Niam slashed at his arms, distanced himself from the tall guy and turned around with a revolver in his right hand.
*BANG*BANG*BANG*
He fired three shots and I saw the big guy lose his strength and seemingly pass out or die while standing.
Niam neared the tall guy with his Katana drawn and ready for a surprise attack.
Everything was silent. The rain had stopped a few minutes ago and the other Bearers were watching Niam too.
„You cunning bastard, I lost!" The tall guy said.
Niam couldn't speak and just passed out on the floor from Mana exhaustion.
Mul-Soo looked panicked. The tall guy had only a small amount of Mana left in his Core, but Mul-Soo was still skeptical about fighting him.
Before Mul-Soo decided to fight or not, the tall guy just picked up his spear and walked away, letting the unconscious Niam live.
„Mul-Soo, get him! Avenge my brother while he's still weak!" Lorenzo begged.
„I can't, he's too strong, even in that state." Mul-Soo responded.
A fight broke out between them but I didn't listen to them, I just ran to Niam.
He fell on his face so I turned him on his back. His face was distorted in pain and his hands were bleeding. I rolled up his wet sleeves only to see bruising all the way up to his upper arms. I didn't want to know if he had any other injuries beside the ones I already saw.
„Mul-Soo, help me get Niam back to the shelter!" I said with a worried tone.
„Understood."
***
We hurried back to the shelter. Niam was carried by Mul-Soo and Amar while Luca's lifeless body was carried by his brother Lorenzo and Mete. Niam groaned and writhed in pain, the internal damage was too much for him. His Mana-Core was working hard to use every last bit of Mana it could get to speed up the healing process.
When we arrived at the shelter, Mul-Soo called out to someone. „Liz! You have a patient!"
A woman in her early thirties ran over to us, she first checked Niam's condition, then Luca's, but when she saw the wound on his chest, tears welled up in her eyes. The woman was as tall as me and had shoulder-long blonde hair, light-green eyes and a pair of glasses. She wore a white medical gown with a blue cross.
„Get him to the medical station, now!" She ordered.
Mul-Soo and Amar ran to the medical station and I went with them. I couldn't leave Niam alone.
The medical station was more like a room. It had a surgery table in the middle with its equipment next to it, the only problem was that it was useless now that technology didn't work.
The woman who Mul-Soo called Liz entered and had nothing but a pair of scissors in her hand.
„You can go out now." She said and signaled to the door.
Mul-Soo and Amar left, but I stayed. I swore to be by Niam's side in case something happened.
Liz didn't seem to care and just walked up to Niam. She took the scissors and was about to cut off his black turtleneck hoodie.
I grabbed her hand and glared at her.
„I need to remove it so I can heal him." She explained.
„These clothes are the only thing what remained from his family. I'll take it off for him."
„Do as you like. I need everything gone except for his boxers. Call me in when you're done." She said and turned around to leave the room.
‚I have to take his clothes off of him.' I realized. Warmth spread through my body and I started to sweat. Having to undress a man like him was difficult and embarrassing for me.
I started by removing his swords and revolver. Then I took off his military vest. ‚Now his hoodie.' I pulled the turtleneck over his head and slowly pulled up the soaked hoodie that clung to his skin. When I pulled away the hoodie, I saw it. A set of abs, covered in bruises. My embarrassment paired with my worry slowed my movements.
I went to remove his boots then his pants, this time avoiding to look at him.
„Come in!" I said to Liz.
„I'm Liz and I'm Piranha School's doctor. I'm also a Bearer." She introduced herself.
