"Physics really is a boring subject"
It was just another day at school for Loann, and it wasn't a better one than any other. It was 3PM, and the weather was good, but he still wasn't happy about doing his physics work. Especially during his advanced physics Saturday class. The only good thing about this class was the fact that his best friend Steven was next to him at the back of the classroom, and they could, albeit discreetly, talk to each other while doing their work.
At his side, Steven sighed as his friend complained for what seemed like the millionth time after only half an hour.
"Is it really THAT bad? We should just hurry and finish this so we can move on to the math homework" he said, clearly used to his friend lazy behavior.
"Yeah, I guess we should" Loann said, not particularly bothered about it.
He always found sciences subject easy.
As Loann and his friend were focusing on their paper, they both heard a cold and lifeless voice echo in their brain saying:
"Welcome to the new era. Your planet is given a buffer time of 31 days. Use it wisely."
After a few seconds of silence, panic ensued as everyone began to talk to each other about the weird voice in their head.
For a few minutes, the whole class was wondering whether this was some kind of elaborate prank but considering the ruckus they heard all around the school, they quickly understood that everyone in the school, and perhaps even more, had heard that voice.
Still confused, the teacher tried to calm the situation and, after failing to get the students attention, called the director to ask for what happened. But it seemed he wasn't the only one that had the idea as he couldn't reach him no matter how many times he called.
As everyone was only getting more and more worried, Loann and Steven decided to bail and go to the boys toilet to get some calm.
Upon their arrival, they noticed with relief that nobody else had the idea for now and just talked about what the hell just happened.
"Steven, did you also hear it?" Loann said, realising how stupid his question was after asking it
"Yeah of course, seems like everyone did" he answered, still thinking about what it could mean for them
"Do you think it's limited to school?"
"I don't know man, it could even be more than th---" He tried to say but everything went black, and he heard one last thing:
"System initializing. Please do not resist."
They both woke up a bit later, not more than a few hours considering they could still see the sun.
The first thing they noticed was the silence of the school. Something that instead of making them feel better only made it eerier considering that if they both woke up at the same time, everybody else should also have.
Taking advantage of the silence, they tried to remember exactly what happened before they fainted.
Loann was the first to speak:
"Do you remember the voice saying something about a system? Do you think it could be like the ones in the book online?" He said, excited but also fearful of what this could mean
"I'm more concerned about what they meant by 31 days buffer time, it could be nothing but I'm having some very bad vibes about it" Steven replied with something that poured cold water on his excited friend.
"I think we should try to see what that system thing is though, it should be helpful." As Loann said that, he tried something he learned from all the novels he read online, and said out loud "Status!"
And he wasn't disappointed as something close to a translucent paper sheet appeared in front of him.

"Holy cow, it actually worked" He said in disbelief
"Wait, it did? Let me try too!" Steven said with renewed vigor
Curious about his friend status, Loann tried to peek but couldn't see anything different about his friend, except perhaps his intense look at what he guessed was the status in front of him. He had to admit that it was pretty fun to see his friend look like that considering he was usually a calm and composed man.
While he was waiting for his friend to finish reading his status, he focused on the most fantasy like aspect of his: the fire affinity.
He wondered if it meant he was a mage, or that anyone could have an affinity?
Not thinking too long about it, he asked his friend what his affinity was, and after Steven gave him a side stare due to him being focused on reading, he got this answer:
"I've got a water affinity."
"Well, what did I tell you! It's actually like what I read on the online novels." Loann said with glee.
He stood up and went to pour cold water on his face to calm down, and when he lifted his eyes to look at his reflection, the wide smile that adorned his face and his bright green eyes couldn't be hidden.
"As cool as this is, we can't forget that we have a deadline until something happen, and I can bet it's nothing good." Steven said, having regained control of his emotions.
