After running for a while, they arrived near the kitchen area.
Thinking about their original objective, Loann asked Steven whether they should go back to the classroom and try to find his phone while the zombie was away.
But asking that made them think of another problem: What if whatever happened here also happened in the whole city? The whole world perhaps?
Would their families be okay?
Loann was a single child, and his father died when he was still a toddler. His mother meant a lot to him, and the thought of her being dead terrified him.
As their face slowly paled from the realization of what this meant, Loann quickly decided what their next course of action would be:
"Let's go for it. I don't want to not try and regret forever if I can't find my mom later on." He said, more determined than ever.
"Let's take a break first and make sure the zombie isn't following us anymore first. And let's not charge in recklessly, we need to plan for the eventuality of going across enemies." Steven said, somehow still rational after everything happened.
As they were calming down from the chase, Loann saw his friend peek inside of the kitchen and, seeing no zombies, began to pick up some things. But while taking a break is a good way to get back some stamina, it also make one prone to ask himself some questions about his situation. Questions such as:
"Even if it is a Saturday, there should be at least a few dozen people at school, but we came across no survivors. Do you think we are the only one still living in this school?"
Loann, not knowing anything about the situation, also began to think about it.
Where could the students and staff have gone to?
Did they also transform into zombies and ran off?
After all, he knew there were at least 4 classes working on Saturday, and without considering his and the one next to his, the last 2 should have at least 30 students each.
But then, how did they only encounter ONE zombie?
And, even more important, could the half eaten people back in his classroom still transform? Or was there a cap where they were just dead bodies?
Thinking about everything, even the system, he suddenly remembered the skill he got a few minutes prior, Identify.
As he wanted to test it out, he first checked his status to check his remaining mana.
Status:
Name: Loann Clemens MERCIER

Intelligence: 15
Free points: 5 [+]

(Affinities): Fire (Mid-Tier).
And that's when he actually started to think a bit deeper into his stats.
First of all, he remembered he had free points to spend. 5 of them to be exact.
But what should he spend them on? What even does each stat represent?
And that's when he thought about using Identify on each stat.
Considering there are 6 of them, it would only cost him 30 mana.
While it felt like a lot, knowledge definitely is important, and his curiosity just wouldn't let him choose otherwise.
"Steven, I'm gonna try and use another skill I got for level 2 called 'Identify' on all stats, I'll let you know the result". He said to his friend who sadly was still a level 1.
And so he did.
"Strength increases your body attack power and your overall body strength. Be careful not to have too much of it without a good amount of vitality, as it can be pretty much damaging to your own body if you lack vitality."
"Agility adds to your overall speed and reaction time, but needs Wisdom to keep up with your increased speed, as your body can only move as fast as your brain."
"Vitality increases your health and overall your body. At high-level, it increases your metabolism and make some vitals needs such as breathing or eating useless."
"Endurance increases stamina and can, at high levels, make you keep your concentration for days straight without drawbacks."
"Wisdom increases your mana pool, your mana regeneration speed, your brain capacity and overall makes you 'smarter'. It also protects you from mind attacks and illusions of all kinds."
"Intelligence increases the raw power of your mana, and is the stat that dictates how powerful you can be as a mage. At high levels, it allows you to easily focus on different things at the same time and increases your thinking speed."
After thinking about it for a bit, he decided to all-in his free points into Wisdom, considering he needed to get back his mana and it wouldn't hurt to get more as a mage anyway.
So now, he had a mana pool of 200, confirming the mana pool was Wisdom * 10.
He guessed that Health and Stamina were also related in the same way to Vitality and Endurance, considering both had gone up the same way.
Right after, he tried to use Identify on his friend, and he got to see the following:
"Human – Level 1"
Remembering the last part of the skill presentation, Loann asked Steven to give him permission to Identify him further, which the blond boy did after giving his friend a weird look for phrasing it like that.
Using identify again, the results were a bit more complete, as he could now see Steven's status appear
