Apparently, from the motel clerk's confession, there was more than one abuser. It was a group of misogynistic men with compensatory behaviors that had spilled into their lives. If they were to bring justice, more than one man would fall. The unannounced plans they had devised in their heads needed adjustment.
The scope had to be enhanced. The metaphorical prisons needed to be expanded. Or perhaps they needed to be imprisoned in a pigsty given the disgusting nature of their conduct. The quartet were all on the same wavelength regarding what needed to be done, even though they knew not how they were going to do it.
