Chapter 1 - Preface

INTRODUCTION

Hello readers, welcome to CAMP 406, but hold on! Before I let you in, you need to have the following qualifications;

* Are you a supernatural being of any kind(werewolf, vampire, witch, warlock, harem, lycan, weredragon, demon, a shapeshifter, angel, demigod, cultivator etc.)

*Are you a witch hunter, a werewolf hunter, a dragonslayer or an exorcist.

*Or are you a snoopy government spy curious about the supernatural world.

If you do not fit in with the above qualifications, then I'm sorry, you would not be allowed into this Camp.

But do not worry, you will be allowed to read what happens in this camp and follow the story of everyone in this camp(most especially, the young and lanky Henry).

This book is a pure work of fiction and is centred in a magic world. Any name, art or language is an original work of imagination of the writer (me!)

This story is also going to be divided into sections and the first section is mostly going to be an introduction to the main plot of this book, where all the major characters would be singled out and discussed about. (If you feel bored, you can skip to volume two—i really recommend you to read the first volume to understand this book better.)

Now that we are past that, I'd like you to fasten your seat belts, 'cause this will be a long and fun drive.

Chapter 1_ Abducted

"Help!!" He yelled as two masked people dragged him.

Although he had been blindfolded, he had managed to see that the people who had abducted him were masked and dressed in black.

As irrelevant as that was, that was all the information he knew.

"Please," he cried. "You must be making a mistake. You have the wrong person."

They didn't bother replying him as they dragged him along.

Henry wondered what anyone would want with someone like him, someone as irrelevant as himself, and he couldn't get a reasonable answer, so he concluded that they must have made a silly mistake.

"This must be a mistake." Henry cried. "I'm not the person you want, trust me."

The two people stopped for a while and then he heard an elevator open. Then, for the next thirty minutes, they were in the elevator, which seemed to be going underground.

Henry pleaded throughout the whole elevator ride and still he didn't succeed at getting even a response from his abductors.

Then the elevator stopped and the doors were opened. He was taken outside by the two masked people and then was dropped on the floor.

"What's going on?" The exhausted Henry asked, not like he was expecting a response.

The two masked people walked away and a set of new people came to Henry. They grabbed him by his collar and pulled him violently on the floor.

"Please let me go! You have the wrong person." Henry pleaded more desperately.

A loud noise emerged and the sputtering noise of machines boomed through the place, which made Henry's ears ring.

After a while, the torturous noise stopped and an iron door was opened.

The people stopped for a while without uttering a word and then Henry was pushed away.

He fell to the floor, with his face on the rough ground. He could feel the wetness of blood from his nose and the sting of new bruises all over his face.

"On your feet!!" He heard a male voice order.

He staggered as he managed to get to his feet. "Please!" He pleaded.

"Good." The voice said. "Now, turn around."

Henry knew he didn't have a choice so he obeyed the voice.

"Then walk."

"Walk?" Henry asked, curiously.

"Don't ask questions, just walk." Another voice said.

Henry legs shook terribly as he took slow steps away from the voices. "Where exactly am I walking to?"

One of the people giggled. "Believe me, you'll know when you get there. Just take one more step. One simple step."

Henry stayed put for a while as he wondered, what will happen if he took a step forward.

After considering his situation, Henry did the only reasonable thing he could do at that point.

He risked a step forward.

And what a huge risk it was as Henry found himself falling. He fell for several minutes, yelling until he lost his voice, until he hit the soft ground below.

During the course of the fall, his blindfold had flown away but he didn't notice as everywhere was still pitch black.

He whimpered as he moved around the wet and dark pit he had fallen into. Although he was still in cuffs, he was able to touch some of the thing on the wet ground and one of them made Henry's young heart skip a beat.

It was a human skull. Henry was sure of it. He cried out in fear as his imagination went wild.

The realization that what he had touched was indeed a human being's skull made him consider some other things, like the wetness of the ground being blood.

Blood!!!

"Is this it?" Henry wondered. "After everything I've been through in life already. So this it? No breakthrough from poverty, no hope or possibility of living a good life, no chance of being someone people could look at without disdain or sympathy."

Then he asked himself and the darkness around him. "What's the essence of living?"

@@@@@@@@@@@@@

A man in a sky blue tank top and white knee shorts, sat down in a wide and spacious office which looked like a rugby match had just been played in it.

His hands tapped his disarranged desk creating a rhythm which his feet followed as it tapped on the polished marble floor.

His eyes looked wild and the countenance on his face indicated that he was furious.

He took a quick glance at his watch and frowned more intensely.

He cursed himself under his breath as he brought out a pair of cigarettes and a lighter from his locker.

He took a puff from his cigar and continued the rhythm he made with both his feet and hand.

Then the door to his office opened and two people walked in with trembling legs.

"Colonel Mark Augustus!" They said as they saluted and stood attention.

His countenance changed instantly and a broad smile appeared on his face. He dropped the cigarette in his hand on his desk and sat upright.

"Oh my dear god, you guys have truly impressed me." He said.

The two newly assigned field agents stared at each other in surprise. They had really thought that they had messed up big time and were surprised to see the colonel so pleased with them.

They reciprocated his countenance with the widest smiles that could ever be faked.

"Especially you, Claudia." Col. Mark said. "You really surprised me. If I had been told that a female and a young girl like yourself could ever pass for a field agent I never would have believed it. But here you are, proving everyone wrong."

His gaze turned to the fat man standing beside Claudia. "And as for you Hugh, I never believed you could be anything other than a food addict."

The big man smiled widely and nudged the young girl with his elbow.

"Please sit down you two. You've really impressed me." Col. Mark said as he motioned them to sit opposite him. "I have something to show you."

The two stared at each other before taking their seats.

Colonel Mark drew his office back until he arrived at a shelf behind him. He picked up a newspaper from the shelf and pushed the chair forward.

Both Claudia and Hugh waited anxiously to see what the colonel had to show them, with their hearts singing merrily.

Who would have believed that Colonel Mark Augustus, the most difficult person to please in the whole world would himself declare that he was impressed with their work.

After taking his chair to it's rightful position, he straightened the newspaper and said to them; "You guys did so well."

"Thank you Sir" Claudia and Hugh said.

"In fact you did too well that you made it in the news!!" He said.

The two stared at each other in uncertainty and shock.

"The news?" Claudia muttered.

As they looked back at the Colonel, they immediately got cold feet as the hard frown on Col. Mark Augustus face was scary enough to make the devil intimidated.

"Sir, what do you mean by, 'we made the news'?" Claudia dared to ask.

He smiled. "Do you think I'm telling a lie?"

"No Sir" She said impulsively.

"Well since you don't believe me, I guess you'd have to take a look at the Today's Newspaper yourself." He tossed the newspaper towards them.

Claudia and Hugh used their facial expressions to argue on who to pick up the newspaper before them and finally, Claudia took the dare.

She picked up the newspaper with trembling hands and stared at the infuriated Colonel.

"Are you going to keep staring at me or are you going to start reading the goddamn newspaper!!" He yelled, banging on his desk.

He rose his head and fell back on his chair. "Now, start with the biggest news written in bold letters and shiny print."

Claudia cleared her throat and began with a shaky voice. "Is Magic Real .. Question Mark."

She paused and stared at the already teary Hugh.

"No breaks, Claudia." Col. Mark said. "Next heading."

She resumed. "Magicians caught in Central park market."

"Wow!" Col. Mark said.

"'Two Suspected Abductors Vanish Into Thin Air With A Homeless Boy' 'Are Aliens Real' 'Aliens Finally Here To Take Over Earth' 'Supernatural Things Happening In Central Park Market' 'Two Abductors, One suspected to be a male and the other a fe…" Her voice faded away as she stared in horror at the newspaper.

"Have you suddenly grown dumb or do you find the paper pretty interesting like I and the rest of the world." Col. Mark said as he rose up and sat upright.

"Can you see what you miserable bunch of losers have done?" He said as he picked up his cigarette.

"How?" Claudia said in utter confusion as she stared at the newspaper.

"You wanna know how?" He asked. "Pass me the newspaper and I'll show you how."

She stretched and passed the paper to Colonel Mark in fear mixed with shock.

He took the newspaper from her and dropped his cigarette on his desk. "Well while you two were going around chasing the little rascal of a boy, people became quite interested in the little chasing game, especially with the number of goods that were scattered and destroyed during the chase. So naturally they brought out their tiny phones and took wonderful pictures of the both of you. He said. "Countless pictures, I tell you." He picked up his cigarette again. "I guess you both are celebrities now but let me tell you something you're not…" He leaned forward and said in a low voice. "… You're not field agents… At least not anymore."

They both gasped out in shock and fear.

"Please don't do this, sir" Hugh begged as he fell to his knees.

"Get up before I send the security to throw you into the worst prison cells you can find in this realm." Col. Mark said.

"Give us another chance and we promise not to disappoint you." Claudia pleaded.

"Another chance? What other chance?" He yelled angrily. "I gave you nitwits the simplest assignment to capture an adolescent child and you failed."

"Being a field agent is my life dream." Hugh said. "Please don't take this away from me."

"This is ridiculous because I'm actually going to be the one to take the blame for your sorry behavior, and I blame myself for allowing two clot polls into my field. Now, get out before I lose my temper!!" He yelled.

They both shook at the sound of his voice and Claudia wisely rose up and urged Hugh to do the same and they both scurried out of the office.

Colonel Mark yelled loudly in frustration and annoyance. "What am I going to do?" He asked himself.

Just then, his telephone rang wildly beside him. "Just kill me now." He muttered as he picked the phone reluctantly.
