Chapter 8 - Out Of The Blue

Colonel Mark was left dumbstruck for a while as he stared at his daughter in awe.

"Do you believe me now?" She asked as she sat back on her hospital bed.

"H-h-how p-possible is this?" He asked, stammering.

"I've told you already. My magic was activated by the saviour who is finally here in Hoboran." She said with a smile on her face.

"I don't actually believe anything about a saviour but what I'm a hundred percent sure of is that you're getting out of this hospital. No one should ever find out about this here. If they do, you'd be queried and I don't want that. There's too much fishy business going on in Hoboran, I don't want you mixed up in them."

"So, how are you going to get me out of here?" She asked.

"Anyhow possible." Col. Mark answered firmly.

The door to the room opened and Dr. Michele along with two other nurses came in.

"Colonel, I've phoned the general health administration and I have been given orders to take your daughter to psych ward for the safety of other patients here and for her own safety."

"Wait, what!!" Col. Mark said aloud in annoyance. "You called the administration of health to take my daughter in?"

"I know we have already talked about this and you firmly rejected my proposal initially. So, I did the only rational thing I could do." Dr. Michele said as she adjusted her glasses.

"Really?" Col. Mark said. "I'm sorry to disappoint you but I have decided to take Sylvian home."

"What!!" Dr. Michele along with the other nurses exclaimed.

"You must be joking." Dr. Michele said with a worried look.

"I know I can be really funny some days but today isn't one of those days." He said staring fiercely at Dr. Michele. He then turned around to face Sylvian. "Pack any of your belongings here, let's go home, sweetheart."

"Colonel Mark, you know I can't possibly let you go with her, so let's stop this joke and talk maturely." Dr. Michele said.

"Dad, I'm all set." Sylvian said as she carried a small backpack and held her large teddy bear close to her.

"Honey, you look perfect." Col. Mark said as he kissed her forehead. "Let's go home and rip this shitty hospital gown."

Dr. Michele clearedjer throat loudly. "Col. Mark, please don't lose the respect I have for you. I beg you, end this drama and let us do the right thing..." She hesitated. "Or, I'd have to call the security."

Col. Mark maintained an unreadable expression for a while and suddenly began laughing hysterically.

Dr. Michele and the nurse exchanged confused looks as they watched the six foot, 3 inches, muscular man fall to his knees laughing.

Even Sylvian was shocked and confused.

Finally, Col. Mark regained himself and rose up from his knees with a broad smile on his face. "That was the funniest thing I've heard all day."

"I was not joking when I said I'm going to calk the security if you don't cooperate with me." Dr. Michele said in the most strict manner her soft and low voice could afford.

"I know you weren't joking, that's why I was laughing. You want to call the security on me, Colonel Mark Augustus, head of the field agency. Don't you value your life, Michele?"

"Are you threatening me?" Dr. Michele asked.

"No, I only asked you a question. Anyway,I would have loved to continue this funny chitchat, but I have a whole lot of more important things to do, so I'd advise both you and your two scrawny nurses to give way before I assist y'all."

"You're going to regret this, I'd make sure of it." Dr. Michele said angrily as she moved away from the entrance, letting Col. Mark and Sylvian walk out.

Col. Mark and Sylvian walked out of the hospital room, nudging Michele's shoulder as he walked out. Sylvian faced back and waved to Dr. Michele, mouthing the words 'goodbye' with a broad smile on her face.

As they were walking out of the double doors, Sylvian stumbled and incidentally hit two hurrying nurses.

"I'm really sorry." She said as she hurried to meet up with her dad.

As she walked out of the double doors of Hoboran's general hospital, she heaved in a sigh of relief. Finally, she was out. After six long years, she was finally out.

"Sylvian, hurry up." Col. Mark said as he turned around to see his daughter twirling with her hands by her side.

"The sun is so beautiful!!" She said, beaming under the sunlight.

Tears welled up in Col. Mark's eyes as he expressed the most genuine smile, Sylvian had ever seen.

Claudia and Hugh rushed outside Hoboran's general hospital just in time to see Colonel Mark and a young teenage girl hop into a cab.

"Now, if we didn't just bump into the long-forgotten daughter of Colonel Mark Augustus, then I'll be damned." Hugh said.

"I can bet on my life that that's Sylvian Jane Augustus... my childhood best friend." Claudia said mildly.

Hugh shot Claudia a questioning look. "Really?"

"At least, she was the closest thing I had to a friend." Claudia said.

"Hmm, that's something you never told me."

"Like you said earlier, after that birthday drama, it felt like she was just erased from everyone's memories, including mine."

"And here she is, appearing out of the blue." Hugh said. "Anyway, we better toss this uniform away. If we get caught... You know what it is?"

"Jail time." Claudia said as she and Hugh scurried off the hospital's premises, tossing the uniforms in the trash can.

"How can you let him do something like this?" One of the nurses asked Dr. Michele.

"And what was I supposed to do, huh?" Dr. Michele snapped back. "Hit him with a club? Or wrestle with him? And you don't possibly expect me to call the security on him as they all obey him."

"So, are you just going to do nothing about this?" A female nurse asked.

"No." Dr. Michele. "I'm definitely not going to let this one slide. Colonel Mark is not getting away with this one."
