Chapter 6 - POEM SIX: ALL THE EYE CAN SEE

POEM SIX: ALL THE EYE CAN SEE

(People go to a place not seen when they want to be alone.

That loneliness is where I've been and I'll continue things on my own.

My eyes cannot lie but I ask myself on who am I?

And no matter how much I've tried, on top of the world I still cry.)

It was only a couple of days before the school festival starts.

Peyg was talking to someone in the hallway.

"Here is a brief output on what are the contributions of our club towards the school festival. I know we already got approval from the student council body beforehand but I just want to pass on our current work to see if you approve that we continue with this moving forward."

Peyg handed over an envelope containing his current progress with the poetic novel, the design of the book, and the script for the play that Lyrica and Vol was a part of.

The student council member accepted it.

"I'll let our members look over it. Say, you seem to be stressing out too heavily on your work if it can go through, huh."

"I'm just open to the changes that you guys want me to do."

Even though the focus of the club's work was their collaboration with the drama club, Peyg wanted his part of the festival to be a success as well. Not because of the club's reputation but because he wanted to deliver his work as genuine and acceptable as possible. And he thought maybe, he can be at ease once he was done.

The student council member smiled and replied, "I'll tell you our response as soon as tomorrow. Well then, I'm off."

The student council member hurriedly walked away.

After their conversation, Peyg went to the rooftop to get some fresh air.

Once he arrived on the rooftop, he leaned his arms on the fence overlooking everything under him.

"The cold breeze here really is soothing."

He looked down and saw some stalls already being put by some students.

On the other side of the field was a very small stadium for performances while the other half was still open for people who were practicing for their sports activities and such.

He then closed his eyes as he enjoyed the cool breeze.

Voices from different students about the festival, working people who were setting up stalls and shouting voices from athletes practicing in the field were heard vividly through his ears.

"It's just a normal festival, why am I so tense."

He proceeds to open his eyes after letting go of those words.

He was tired of standing and hearing everybody so he laid flat on his back and looked up.

He was lucky that it was a cloudy day.

While looking at the sky he said to himself, "Sera."

He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

It was already night time and the boy was asked to close the library.

"I guess I'm lucky that there weren't many people who were staying in the library today. I can go home earlier than usual."

The boy made rounds on the aisle of the library to ensure that there wasn't anybody left before closing it.

Even though he said that it was earlier than usual, it was already nighttime.

He walked towards a convenience store and bought a drink.

He didn't want to go home yet so he decided to take a detour and took a break on a bench near a river that was close by.

"Today was quite extreme for me, huh."

He leaned back a bit and put his bag to seat beside him.

A big sigh came out of his mouth.

"Opposites attract they say. But does it really equate to what I'm experiencing right now?"

The boy felt like he was quite inferior. The difference in both their stature was quite big. To top it all off, there was already a contender in the endeavor that he wanted to take.

"But I guess I should start trying and stop worrying too much. Nothing will be done if I do not act upon it. My problems will not disappear on their own. My problems, huh."

He was frustrated at how he handled situations like this. He was never the sociable type and yet he can act out just like everybody else when he is alone. He was a person who considers the fear of relations and yet he wanted to make a connection if it was possible.

This contradictory state was messing up his mind.

Without finding a clear solution, he ended up finishing his drink in one go.

He stood up and finished his contemplation without a proper conclusion.

While standing up, he looked at the sky.

The glistening stars covered his line of sight.

He was so focused and preoccupied with his thoughts that he didn't notice it.

"I've been going home late most of the time and yet I kind of forgot for a brief moment on how beautiful the night sky is. I always look at it a couple of times while walking home and yet, there was something else that caught my attention in its place. I really am pushing myself too hard, am I?"

He then chuckled as he started to walk back home.

"She is like the night sky, the one that gives me light in the path of darkness. She was unreachable and alluring. No, she was more than that. Even on the top and highest point, even if I might end up reaching the night sky, she might always be out of reach."

Later that night, he began focusing on making his plan on his schedules to better tackle his problems little by little.

Although his old problems are slowly lessening in burden, the new one might overshadow his small steps towards stability.

As such, the boy ended up trying his best to close gaps which became more of a hassle for him moving forward.

Thus, the boy continued on his goal of at least making his life be enveloped by her words.

Peyg then woke up after a couple of minutes have passed.

"Did I fall asleep?" He said as the gentle and calming breeze still swept by him.

There were a couple of tears that were falling from his eyes.

He noticed this and quickly rubbed it all off.

"I really am too deep into this."

He then left the rooftop and went home.

After doing so, he quoted:

-The sea of thoughts hides nothing from the eyes of the beholder and its grand tower oversees all.-
