The ride was long, and I was surviving on very little sleep. Despite the comfort provided by the business class of the plane, I wasn't able to have much sleep because of all the dreams I am constantly having.
I tried to stay awake but the rocking motion of the car combined with the silence from James allowed me to fall asleep easily.
I jolt awake. I had another dream again but this time there was a different guy. I sit up wiping the sweat from my forehead and have no clue where I am. I look around, and realize I must be at Julia's home ...but that's not the point. I was in the car with James before I fell asleep then how did I get here...??
Looking around at my surroundings, I guess that this must be the guest room next to Julia's room, from all of the pink things I can see, even in the dark. I try to go back to sleep, but my insomnia kicks in again, and I sigh, looking at the ceiling.
With a grunt, I get off the bed and decide to go down to the living room, to see if she is still up. And since I have been to Julia's a lot of times so I remember exactly where the living room is.
None of the lights are on in any of the rooms on the floor I'm on, so I quietly tiptoe down the stairs, trying not to wake Julia up by stomping if she was sleeping. As she can be quite scary when someone disturbs her beauty sleep.
As I get closer to the living room, I can hear the faint sounds of the TV, so I go to the living room, expecting Julia to be there.
But when I opened the door to get to the living room, James was sitting there by himself.
He doesn't even hear me walk in, he's too engrossed in the horror movie playing on the TV. I haven't seen enough scary movies to know what he's watching, but I do know I'm about to give him the biggest jump scare of his life.
Silently sneak up behind him, and once I'm right behind him, I reach out with my arms to grab his shoulders, but at that moment, his arm reaches out and grabs my right arm....and I'm flying.
'...wait... I'm flying..?!'
I squeeze my eyes shut, and keep them
closed, even when I land on something
hard.
James's breath tickles my face.
"You know Freya, you shouldn't sneak up on me. I'm trained in judo and taekwondo. You could've been hurt."
I slowly open my eyes and make eye contact with a smirking James.
"Oh, and you're like a feather, Fay, I almost overthrew you.", he adds.
I push his face away from me and get up, laughing quietly.
"Maybe you're just freakishly strong, James, I'm not that light.", I say while sitting down next to him on the couch.
"Actually, you're lighter than you think but never mind that, what are you doing up?", he asks.
"I could ask you the same question, Jamie.
What are you doing here, shouldn't you have already left, or should be resting in your room?" I ask slyly.
"Haha, you're right. I'm just not tired yet, It's only about midnight right now. Whenever we have schedules I'm used to going to sleep around 1-3 AM and as for your first question I was going to leave right after I had settled you in your bed but it was already very late that's why Julia let me stay here for the night.", he says nonchalantly, after checking his phone.
So, he was the one who had put me in the bed. Oh my god Freya, how can you sleep like a log? That must be so embarrassing. I thought as I felt the blush creeping in on my face.
"And what about you? Are you having a nightmare again? If you have trouble sleeping I can give you company or sing you to sleep?" He teases me, but I'm actually quite tempted.
"Wait, how did you know I have nightmares," I ask confused
"Well, you were frowning a lot when I had put you into bed so I guess you were having a nightmare. Later Julia told me you had them often." He says and I nod understanding.
