Chapter 3 - 03. The Silvery Menace

After finally snapping out of his gaze, Raphael smiled completely satisfied towards Axul. Although he was a prince he did not want him dead yet, and even shared valuable information.

He'd only heard tales through word of mouth, never thinking he'd learn the real truth. He had failed to notice the air around him beginning to thin, until he felt an overwhelming presence behind him. With one eye shut and a tear slipping, and the other barely open, he noticed the one he feared most of the three there as he clasped for his neck.

Once again the giant man, perhaps a little under 200cm, or 6'5, was right there. Axul had a more simple presence which demanded respect, but in a friendlier manner. This man however, had the looks and walk of someone with pure authority.

It seems like no one else felt this, looking at the small boy and recalling the absolute ginormous man from before.

"Humans really are weak." The sea prince mumbled. Not before wiping away his tears and trying to make him relax.

Although he couldn't see if the vampire's eyes had widened. He was taken aback by the word, 'human' so much so that when normally speaking or opening his mouth he'd hide his fangs, but this time he didn't.

"No…" the human muttered in protest to his inquisitive roommate's help. Too soon to think about making his way through school, huh? he'd thought.

All of a sudden, he felt a wave of relief wash over him as his hands were no longer on his neck. "The aura of a strong king," the sea prince begun. "His ability does not strangle you, but rather the more you fear him or want to avoid him the more your mind tells you that you're suffocating- so much so that you've started to feel as though he is forcing you down to kneel." when he finished, things made a lot of sense.

The king did not move other than walk therefore having no time to cast magic. He had no way to use vampirism on him within the span of Axul watching him. Next off, there was also his fear from the start of attending which subconsciously slipped in and caused him to fall originally. He had only let up when the king had stopped looking at him causing him to feel more relieved that he was spared rather than scared.

"So that's how it works!" He gasped out, voice still raspy from his earlier struggle. Shaking he managed to reach his notebook and turn to a page with a thin bookmark and begun writing.

Widening their eyes the other two watched. "Vampires have abilities like mental hypnosis… don't need to speak to be used nor would it be vampirism as they do not lock eyes." he recalled.

Forgetting all of a pain in a moment his thirst for knowledge overwhelmed him. His pace quickened as he filled out the page, completely forgetting where he was.

His wrist ached as he continued piling new questions all over the page wherever they fit, even if it was sloppy. He created a hypothesis and more from these questions and little notes on how to find out or to ask away.

Finally, the pencil snapped and it was noticeably shorter. "Again?" He whispered looking at the pencil. This was the fifth he broke that month, another one to sharpen and fix soon.

Hopefully there was a school store, he could soon purchase pencils with the money his grandfather sent with him. He was curious how to use paper for transactions, something not used where he came from.

Lifting his head and looking at the silver-haired king, he tilted his head as his light green eyes shone brightly with curiosity. "Would you please tell me more about yourself? Am feeling a bit curious."

His lips were ever slightly-so parted, as his eyes were now doing the gazing. He looked at the very king of vampires as though he were a mere subject to be analysed in class.

His messy black hair bangs soon started to fall over onto his face, but it seemed he could not even feel the slightest tickle. Axul tried to move a hand up and down but to no luck.

Again his trance was unbreakable. As the silver-roommate tried to step back and cover his mouth, the smaller boy only stepped closer with his notebook clinging tightly to his chest whispering, "I'm curious."

The science behind vampires and their dna- just what could it be? To humans they knew basics but was that really true or was there much more to uncover? Just as he had just learned about the sea prince with iridescent beauty.

"Do you have no fear or are you a really dedicated fanboy?" The pink-haired boy questioned but was drowned in the sea of unease throughout the entire room.

Finally, they moved until back against a wall. "Do you have no desire to continue with your life?" A deep voice thundered through the room, echoing down the halls to the farthest corners.

Backing away slightly Raphael held his notebook at a tilted angle right by his lips with two fingers holding each opposite top and bottom corner. "Fascinating, his voice earlier was light and deep nearly sensual but this is deep and gruff almost frightening- this is truly the presence of a king."

However much the other two members of royalty wished for him to return to the normal docile boy, more mumbles escaped forth.

"I'm warning you," a deep growl, "you are beyond frail." but the warning was never followed through with. The king only looked frustrated.

Finally, the young sea-boy pried the two away. "Humans are freaky. We aren't allowed to fight but have a bit of self-worth. You could just read this in the library." An off-handed comment.

Taking his hands in an instant, he turned on his heel and looked down as Raphaēl had a child-like smile adorned on his features.

"Really? A actual library?" He asked the obvious. Any school has a library but it must of escaped his mind he would be able to enter one like other students and find books which answered his questions! Not just language!

As the two went back and forth from his high only the vampire watched unsaying of anything and rather unmoving. "Humans…" he muttered with a flustered face.

His mouth was covered and so were his rose coloured cheeks. He could not remember the last time he felt warmth, the heartbeat of a living human or any living entity so close, and could feel the hot breath against his chest as he got cornered.

Humans were abnormally frail. Everyone knew that vampires were superior to most and that the ravennette's species was at the bottom of the food chain and yet somehow someway this human confronted him.

A bad and terrible creature who started a war which caused his species near extinction. Suffocate choked and mocked yet still gleefully asked.

The feeling wasn't too bad, the warmth was something he figured he'd never feel again. But as he left with the general of the sea, who was so ruthless he made a species extinct, he had a smile.

"Are you upset?" A voice rang causing him to look up. The blue he'd notice anywhere. The last of the pureblood leaders. Only his clan remained anymore.

The man who always annoyed him to no avail for any chance given from his past statement. "You are too kind for someone so heartless." He mocked walking away after slamming his hand hard snapping the king out of his gaze, he was not being kind and worrying for the human. Rather, he was just shocked that one would approach him, was all.
