Jessica's POV
I have to say something has gotten into Xavier and others today because they declared a break in forever! They have Never Ever given us a break for the past three years and they freaking gave us a break today. That was the main part but I decided to leave Rose and Tyler alone because they were an eyesore to me as they flirted right in front of my eyes.
Because I wanted Rose and Tyler to be alone and enjoy their time, I walked out of the house after changing myself to go hunting. When I opened the door, fresh air hit my face and I gladly welcomed it. I've been living here for three years but I still can't get over the smell of the pine trees.
I ran for a mile where most of the wild animals lived. I hid myself between the bushes and waited for the animals to get out of their caves. I got ready to shoot my arrows when there were rustlings but stopped my actions when I saw three men walking towards the bush I was hiding.
I stopped my actions and stood there, holding my breath and trying my best to not give myself away. Two of them were facing me but I couldn't see them because the one who had his back to me was a freaking giant and blocked my view from seeing others.
The three of them seemed to be having a really serious conversation and I tried to eavesdrop but I couldn't because they spoke the language I couldn't understand; Russian I assume. So, I gave in and decided that I would wait till they were done and continue hunting after they got out of this forest.
It's a miracle they managed to even find this forest. Because for one, this place isn't located on maps. Maybe they decided to meet here to do the drugs deal or whatsoever. All I wish is that they would get out of this forest ASAP.
As I expected, they seemed to be exchanging something and two of them left, the other one still standing on the ground, unmoving. I wish he would walk away soon and keep dead quiet in the bush.
"How long are you planning to hide there, Miss Knight?" My breath caught in my throat and I froze on the spot as I was recognized by the mysterious man.
Who the hell is he?! How does he know who I am? And WHY does his voice sound so freaking familiar??!!
I let out a gasp when the man turned around and his grey eyes pierced through my skull. I was caught off-guard but I stepped out from the bush when I recovered from the shock. After all, it's no use hiding when he knew my presence already.
There was a thick and agonizing silence between Luciano and me as we stared at each other's eyes with hatred and alert. I watched his every step and got ready to fight back in case he wanted to pick a fight.
Well, maybe he wasn't keen on picking a fight because I was the one who managed to aim my pistol at Luciano who reacted a few seconds later. When the thought of him being related to my own parents, the only one who could have been the only ones in this world who would love me for whom I am unconditionally, I couldn't control myself as I aimed by gun at him.
I so desperately wanted to pull the trigger and finish him right here and there but the logical part of me prevented me from doing so.
"Did no one tell you it's bad to eavesdrop, Miss Knight? Or to point your gun at a gentleman? Oh, right, I forgot. You don't have real parents who can teach you manners." Luciano said with a smirk and that got me even angrier. He went too far on this and I am not going to let him get away with it.
I was fuming and on the verge of pulling the trigger but I smirked instead and lowered the gun. The very first thing I got to learn during the training is that my impulsiveness doesn't get me anywhere. And the faint shock Luciano had on his face by looking at my calm posture made me proud.
"Well, it's a pity your mother was a whore and never got the chance to look after you and teach you the simplest fact that women aren't to be messed with." I let out a dramatic sigh and my chest bloomed with pride as Luciano clenched his jaw and fist.
Of course, I've done some research and studies on the most important figure in the mafia world. Obviously, he would have a deep scar in the deepest part of his heart that he doesn't want to show and since he is being such an asshole, I got to remind him that I am not to be messed with.
"At least I had parents who would look after me and teach me manners throughout the years. I wonder who is the unlucky one here." I examined my nails which was just polished with a translucent nail polish and enjoyed the show.
"Truce." I smiled and nodded as he mumbled it and I suppressed myself from making him angrier with the nastiest comebacks in my head. The previous one couldn't even be called a comeback. It was just the way I talked to uneducated and ill-mannered people like him who doesn't deserve my respect.
"I know that you guys have been taking advantage of this abandoned forest for the past three years but I guess I've been lenient enough to go blind eye to you guys." He paused and looked around the surroundings, taking deep breaths to calm himself.
"Your point, Mr. Ivanov?" "One can wait for long. I am sure you're smart enough to know what I mean and what to do, Miss Knight. Till then, goodbye and take care. I am sure we will meet soon." And just like that, Luciano walked away from me and I let out an angry huff.
Why did I come across him again? Well, it looks like I am going to have to leave this forest soon. Oh god, I am really going to miss the forest and the memories of us for the past three years. I really got to thank that psycho for being an asshole.
"Guys! It's code red!" I yelled from the top of my lungs as I entered the house. In an instant, Harry and Xavier were out of their rooms. Ignoring them, I ran to the kitchen, poured myself a goddamn water and downed it. When I was done, everyone was gathered, looking at me with worry and confusion.
"I met Luciano." I went directly to the point which activated eye brow muscles of Xavier, meaning he was frowning and the gasp from Harry could be heard. They exchanged glances together but Rose and Tyler stood there completely clueless. I then started to tell them who they were while Xavier and Harry were making a fuss about it in the back.
"OMG! That sounds like utter trouble. So, what are you guys gonna do?" Rose asked with her voice coated with pure worry and I patted her back, telling her it was nothing serious. Xavier and Harry had same thought on the matter; both of them wanted to leave the forest ASAP.
And as they were the in-charge of my training, I couldn't afford to argue with them. The very day, we were busy packing. Rose and Tyler would leave a few days later but we were to leave as soon as we could. Rose helped me pack and we used the chance to talk about stuffs like the gossipy girls we are.
We tried our best to utilize the time because we knew that we wouldn't get time to talk to each other when we were back to our duties. When we were done packing, I got out of the room to see guys already packed and talking to each other.
I and Rose hugged for a minute or two, reluctant to let go of each other. In the end, we had to bid goodbyes and once again, it was heartbreaking to know that we were to go our separate ways. We were basically going to live in another part of the world, busy with our own duties as the future don and queen of two different worlds.
Even though both of us had different identities, that couldn't change the bond and friendship we shared.
And just like that, in less than 12 hours of meeting Luciano in the isolated forest, three of us had to catch a flight back to Italy.
