Chapter 40 - Chapter 40

Jessica's POV

I woke up five hours later when a maid called me for dinner. I finished my dinner like a hungry wolf, startling everyone on the table but that was the least of my concern as I ate the delicious food.

"Come to meet me tomorrow in my office after breakfast. We have got alot of matters to discuss. I've heard about the overall news from Xavier and Harry but I would like to hear things from you too." Damon said as we stood up from our seats to go to the living room to watch TV.

"Alright. See you. Good night." I said and waved at him as he excused himself to deal with some stuff. Kate and Fiona on the other hand, dragged me to the living room, demanding that we burn the night oil by watching the latest movies and shows I've missed.

After I was squished in between Fiona and Kate, they started to argue about their choice of shows. They practically yelled in my ears, insisting that they should watch the shows of their choice.

"Guys! Stop! Just stop! You're deafening me." "Blame her, not me." Kate huffed and Fiona gasped at her.

"Alright. No more fighting. Since we are going to spend the whole night, why don't we watch both of the shows?" I suggest and that seem to have pleased them both.

Well, that night, we might have not just watched two shows but almost all the shows on the trending list. But at the end of the day, the only movie I could remember was "365 Days".

I loved the story plot but what actually amazed me was the fact that it was an action movie featuring the dark life of the mafias and modern world with a bit of romance.

Who am I kidding? The whole movie was about romance and explicit scenes. And as I was in some twisted way, the heir of Italian mafia, it made me fantasize about the life I would have. I loved every single thing about the movie even though it got me crying.

We've decided to go to bed at 5 in the morning and I didn't even bother to brush my teeth because I needed my sleep more than anything. After all, it would be no use when I wake up, I will smell like I was dumped in the garbage factory for a day. Or weeks.

I barely got any sleep as I woke up at nine. I am an early bird and the fact that I was accustomed to getting up very early in the mornings due to training didn't help. Despite barely getting four hours of sleep, I didn't feel tired or sleepy.

I was quite energetic as I've got five hours of nap in the afternoon. So, when I was done with my usual routine and breakfast, I walked to Damon's office, recalling the path from my memory.

I took a deep breath as I stood in front of a familiar door and knocked on it. When I entered, I was greeted with the very familiar office of Damon. It was in the exact same way it was three years ago; nothing has changed. I took a seat infront of Damon and braced myself for an interrogation.

"Hey. Did you have breakfast?" He asked as he stopped whatever he was doing and paid attention to me.

"Yeah, have you?" He nodded in reply.

"You're early. I thought I would see you in the afternoon as you, my beloved wife and daughter were up till the very morning, watching TV." I smiled at him in return.

"Well, I guess that's what living and training with the most well-known mafia warriors for three years." I emphasized the 'mafia' and he let out a light chuckle.

"So, I heard the reason behind your guys return. But I would like to hear things from your point of view. " As I was about to open my mouth to speak, a knock was heard and a maid entered; serving us a cup of tea and coffee. I thanked her and Damon took a sip of his coffee, looking at me for elaboration.

"The very day when I met Luciano in the forest was when Xavier and Harry were in good mood and gave us a break for the first and last time during the training. I am sure they've told you about my friends Rose and Tyler. I know you checked their backgrounds as well and I tell you, they are trustworthy so you don't have to worry about them. Ok, getting back to the story, I wanted to go for a hunt that day so I left alone in search of my prey." And I kept on telling the story, skipping the fact that Tyler and Rose are werewolves.

Xavier and Harry asked me why they would need training the very first day we've met and they were suspicious but since it was a crucial matter for them, I just lied to them. And I don't even remember the lie I used as a disguise. Damon listened intently as I kept on and he was deep in his own pool of thoughts when I was done.

"And what do you have in your mind for now?" He asked after minutes of silence engulfing us and I shrugged in response.

"I haven't got a clue but I guess we have to go with what is best for me. But if I were to take over your position, I would want to get a clear understanding of the mafia empire before I do. I don't want people looking down on me just because I am new to this world and am a woman. Me being a woman is gotta be troublesome and I wanna be prepared so that no one can pick on me." Damon seemed to completely agree with me and I was glad he did.

"Xavier and Harry will accompany you throughout the week to help get a better understanding. But after the week, on the first day of the next month, we will hold a ceremony for your return to this world." "Sure, no problem."

"And as I've said three years ago, Harry will return to his post of being your bodyguard." As much as I wanted to roll my eyes and ask him for a female bodyguard, I didn't want to argue with him on this.

After all, I guess the bond we shared during the last three years is better than a new chick who might be a bitch or a total replica of Xavier. So, I just nodded and walked out when Harry and Xavier entered to report for duty.

Looks like my life is going to be more adventurous from now onwards. Am I supposed to be happy or excited or should I cry a river and lament about my life?

Neither.

I am just going to enjoy life experiencing the life not many get to live.
