Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Rose's POV

I and Tyler sat there with our eyes as wide as a saucer and jaws hitting the floor. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So, what Laly said was true? What the fuck do they mean the fucking princess? I've always loved the word 'Queen' but when I am put into this situation, I don't like it a bit. What the hell is actually going on?

"The fuck you mean by that?" I asked them, my emotion running uncontrollably through my veins. I didn't even know I've stood up and banged the desk on the process till my hands hurt from hitting the desk to hard. Being rude to them was the least of my concerns now.

"I mean the exact fuck I've said. When I was working as the king of the werewolves, Jack was the Beta king so when I resigned, he had no choice but to take over. Not many people know about it as it was meant to be kept as some sort of a secret. The reason why I resigned will be the story for another time but for the curious cats, allow me to elaborate." Dad cleared his throat and opened his mouth to exaggerate but was stopped by my mom who mouthed him to speak the main point and I couldn't be more grateful.

"Yea, main point it is. You see, the main reason why I decided to resign was because of the war that happened between vampires and werewolves two decades ago and even though it ended with werewolves' victory, I couldn't face them as it made them lose thousands of our species, resulting in almost extinction of werewolves and people taking away their own lives as they've lost their mates in the battlefield who never returned."

"I took all of their mates and lives just because I couldn't come up with a proper plan to stop it from happening and saving more lives. I was such a failure as a poor excuse of a King." As dad said it, he wasn't looking at us anymore and looked away from us, deep in thought as he recalled the memory.

Tyler gasped at the end of the story and the meeting room was silent yet again. My mom patted dad's back as if telling him it wasn't his fault and looking at him with sad eyes. And what I did next surprised me, almost frightened me.

I stood up from the desk when I didn't mean to and it walked towards my mom and dad. I hugged them and patted their backs. Still, it wasn't me who was doing all of this and I was frightened at this point.

"Don't blame yourself dad. It was not your fault. I know that you did your best to just save every single soul on the battlefield and your people don't blame you for it. Instead, they are grateful to have such a brave and tactful leader. If they were to blame anyone, it should be people living in heaven who have brought it on yourself."

"I am sure the moon goddess has long forgiven you for what you had done because it was the best you could do to end the catastrophe. Things could have gotten out of control but it was you who put an end to the war so don't blame yourself anymore." When I was done saying, all of them stared at me with wide eyes and I couldn't understand what was going on either.

The fuck was that?

'The fuck was me.' Layla spoke in my head and I glared at her.

'What did you do that for?' Lala just shrugged.

'I've always wanted to tell this to your dad. He doesn't deserve to live the life he decided to live after the war. He is one of the best leaders' werewolves ever had and he is blaming himself for what he could have done better. No one blames him but himself so he deserved to hear it.'

Even though I didn't understand the situation, I just shook it off as they were already spoken and there was no taking back now. Mom and dad hugged me tighter and I just smiled, enjoying the hug.

"Thanks honey." dad whispered. "You're welcome dad." As we parted, Jack and Jade were looking at us with adoration.

"You guys might be tired. Business can wait. Rest and have some food first. The dinner is ready and I've assigned you guys personal maids who will help you with while staying in the castle." Jack said and we all stood up from the seat.

"As much as I would love to get wasted with you tonight to catch up, I am sure alcohol can wait. Please show us around. I want to see what has changed during the past decades." Dad said as he walked out with Jack and mom walked out with Jade. Jade stopped at the door and turned to us.

"Rose's room is next to Tyler's so he will show you around. We will get going." Jade waved and walked away as they gossiped to catch up. I turned to look at Tyler and he was already looking at me, as if asking me what he was supposed to do. I laughed at how cute he looked and dragged him out of the meeting hall.

"Hey bud. Let's get going." I dragged him to God knows where but he grabbed my wrist as I was leading the wrong way and walked the opposite way.

"This way, princess. I really can't believe what the fuck is going on but if you're the true heir, I am supposed to call you that." "You don't have to. Just call me Queen. I am the future queen anyway." I winked and he frowned.

"How are you processing this stuff so well? Aren't you overwhelmed?" Tyler asked as we walked through a familiar corridor.

"I would be lying if I said no. It overwhelms me a lot in fact but what can I do? Throw a tantrum? Is that going to change anything? No. Things will happen regardless of how I react so I am just going to go with the flow. If they want me to be the princess of werewolves, be it. If my life is to be the queen of werewolves, I will work to be a great leader for them. There is a solution to everything and I am not gonna dwell on how things might have been if it didn't turn out the way it did. I will just chillax and go with the flow."

"Wow, I love how you can just see the silver linings in everything and be cool with such complicated stuff. I must learn it from ya." "There are so many things to learn from me other than that." I winked as we stood infront of a room.

Tyler pointed at the room next to the one we were standing infront of. I went to the room which was right next to his and the room was decorated with girlish stuff.

"The room isn't that bad. I will skip dinner so please let them know. I am gonna take a shower and sleep. Good night, buddy." I hugged and gave him a good night peck at his cheeks after waving and walking inside the room.

"Good night, Princess. Sweet dreams."

After I got into my room, I showered and plopped down on my bed. As I lied down, I looked at the dark ceiling and thought about the long day I've had. There were so many things for me to take in and I was honestly shocked at how well I've adapted to the situation.

I look forward to what the future has in store for me.
