Rose's POV
I closed my eyes and tried to sleep but I could see a white wolf pacing around in my mind which freaked the hell out of me. I snapped my eyes open and sat up straight, startling Tyler in the process.
'Yo, chill! It's just me!'
I relaxed a bit when I heard a familiar voice in my head and that's when I realized it was the wolf who had been talking to me all the while.
"Is something wrong?" Tyler asked in concern and I shook my head as I lay down and closed my eyes.
'Why the fuck do you look like a freaking wolf in my head?' I asked and the wolf turned around, checking her body and sticking her tongue out later.
'What can I do? It's my true form. Do you like it?' She asked with her golden eyes sparkling even in the dark and I smiled at her.
'I am not sure because having to share my dirty and personal space with someone isn't exactly my cup of tea but you sure look dazzling.'
'Thanks babe.' The wolf smiled and looked around.
'What's your name?' I asked her as I was curious about what she was called.
'It's upto you honestly.' She said as she sat on her hind legs, or hips. I was never good with human anatomy, let alone wolves.
'I go by alot of names and I don't mind having another one.' Her golden eyes bored into mine and I searched my brain for the names that I once wished to name one of my pets or wished I was called that way while reading Wattpad. But when I couldn't get a single name out of it, I sighed and blamed my brain for losing brain cells when they were needed the most.
'No worries. From now on, I will be there to remind you if you ever forget to do anything. My brain cells aren't as lazy as yours.' She snickered and tried to suppress her smile as she said it.
I gave her a sheepish smile before sighing out in relief. As much as I don't like to have someone in my head who is going to be there to invade my privacy, I was fortunate that she wasn't as forgetful as I was. After all, everything has a silver lining as they say.
'What about Layla?' I asked her after searching for my lost braincells for minutes.
'Sure.' Layla shot me a wolfy grin and I smiled at her in response.
It would have been really awkward if I was smiling outside and she couldn't see it but thankfully, when I had to talk to her, I was brought to the space where she rests so she could see my body language as I spoke.
'So, as I was saying, there is so much to discover about your parents and myself. Till then, I will try to explain who I used to be before I was merged with your body and soul.' Layla said and I sat infront of her, ready to listen to the story."
"It would have been better if someone was quick-witted to provide us with a bowl of popcorn but as I know that everyone is busy reading Wattpad, I will have to agree not to eat them.
'Nope, no popcorn. They are gonna distract you in the middle of story so it's for the best that we don't get any.' Layla butted in as she read my mind and I rolled my eyes.
'I have lived a long life actually and it might be hard for you to believe me but I was one of the most influential people living in heaven.' My eyes squinted in disbelief, thinking she was boasting about herself as she finished the sentence and she shut me up with her eyes as I was about to bombard her with questions.
'Sh! No questions while I am speaking because I will explain everything if you have any questions. I can read your mind.' I calmed myself and sat back as she warned me and continued.
'Yes, heaven exists. The place where I live is really different from what you guys expect. Yes, it's called heaven and a lot of people want to live there but you won't, after you witness how they fight to take over the throne."
"In the heaven, people are divided into three hierarchy; immortals, gods and deities. Immortals are the lowest rank but at least they have the privilege of living for as long as they wish. On the other hand, they are treated by gods and deities as if they're servants of some sort.'
'Gods are higher rank than immortals and one can earn the title of being a god or a goddess if they pass the stage of immortals. As you see, everyone is born an immortal in heaven and it's upto them if they want to go through millions of arduous trials to be a god."
"Being a god is a really hard task since they have to risk their lives more than you can imagine. Alot of them lose their lives during the trials and their soul will vanish from the universe. They can never reincarnate again but majority of immortals still risk their lives to live the life away from gods and deities' bullying.'
'Once they achieve the title of God, they live a carefree life. But some go through another set of trials to be a deity and it's a whole new level of becoming one, compared to immortals being a god. But there are still people who don't give up hope and try their best to pass the trials."
"Gods can stay in the heaven, looking after the species they were assigned to look after and staying away from the quarrels between deities and royal families because when you get involved, it's very complicated to uncomplicate it if that makes sense.' Layla sighed and looked away as if she was thinking about something. It's unfair that she can freely read my mind but I can't read hers.
I don't know what kind of life she has been living before but in my opinion, she is just overexaggerating it because no matter how hard it might be, how arduous can it get than losing your braincells in the middle of exam when you need them?
'You don't understand. It's too complicated matter for you to understand how things work in heaven. Anyway, I was one of those people whose soul could have vanished because I didn't pass the trial. I am quite an ambitious person so I always strive to be the best of myself."
"My goal was to pass all the trials that are out there to be a deity. I had times when I doubted myself but there was this friend, who always stayed by my side to motivate me. Long story short, both of us passed all the obstacles we had to overcome and we became deity of wolves, werewolves and poison.' I stared at her in disbelief and she laughed at me.
She can't be serious, right?
