Chapter 2 - Waiting

It has been a week now and I have been waiting for a real donation towards my university only another lousy 6% towards tuition and 4 % towards books and other supplies. do they even know how much university costs? These measly percentages are just chump change. I was getting a bit fed up about the whole thing.

about an hour later I got a WhatsApp message from one of my acquaintances it was a scholarship grant for those who were studying medicine and especially for those who were planning on becoming surgeons. it did seem a bit shady. and I know how to distinguish them now because I have seen many of these before and some of them have made me send around WhatsApp messages to my contacts to tell them to sign up so that they can also get grants and after sending around 20 messages then only for the site to suddenly stop working. I was being wary but I was getting desperate, I then clicked on the link. It took me to a website with a look that made it look quickly put together and also the google sites on the link. it had some basic information and signup. I did necessary and after submitting it gave me a phone number to call if they don't send a response email within two days. I wrote down the number and went back to waiting

I continued searching for more scholarships, checking my emails every hour and doing a bit of gaming which is playing temple run until my battery is dead. studying researching doing chores, eating, sleeping. I just kept on doing this for the next two days.

on the third, after receiving that sketchy scholarship I decide to call the number. I have just received another scholarship for NCB and Scotiabank both totalling 20% of all expenses paid for the four years as long as I keep my grades up. Things were finally looking up. And with this stroke of luck, I hoped for the best.

The phone started ringing and it rang four times. I didn't want to give up yet so I rang again. the first ring, second ring third ring, fourth ring, Then the phone answered.

thank you for calling Desert eagle scholarships who do I have the pleasure of speaking to

Christopher Henry. I carefully answered; the guy on the other line sounded like a professional at trying to sound as if he speaks proper English. But I tried to ignore it

hello Christopher have you submitted your application

I stood in my room waiting and thought to myself this is starting to sound legit

I have found your application Mr Henry and I must say you have some excellent grades and I think you would do well in any university that you go to. What do you think?

Why do I hate holding I guess it's part of the process? I am griping onto the phone hoping for the best.

after about five minutes the guy on the other line spoke again and his mood has changed a bit, not a good sign.
