Tora's POV
I had just reached down the last flight of stairs. I had jumped down hard, so as to frighten Jim. I froze. What I saw, was not what I expected.
*Back to story*
She froze.
What she saw in front of her was anything but Jim. In fact, Jim would have been a pleasant sight to see at this moment. She tried to scream, but her throat went dry and her voice had disappeared. She blinked her eyes a couple times to ensure that what their seeing is really there. Rubbing her eyes would be impossible as her limbs refused to move. Her feet clued to the wooden floor and her arms stitched to her skirt.
The thing had heard her. Of course it had. She was the one who made the sound on purpose. But she had hoped it didn't.
It turned towards her. Staring at her with its deep red coloured eye's. As it edged forward, she could see it much clearly now. Before, all she saw was a big and very large beast-like figure as it was evening and outside was bleak. Now the light from the fire place shone on it and filled in the rest of the outline.
A massive creature.
The creature had black messy fur, with little twigs stuck to it. It had big beady eyes the colour of blood, razor sharp teeth and falcon-like claws, that could decimate a person with one strike. The smell of putrefaction filling the entire room.
There was a table over a few feet from the sofa, where it wasn't originally, and it was in shreds.
Felling all the blood rush from out of her body, she stood transfixed. The monster was looking at Tora intently like she was something delicious.
Suddenly, the monster charged. Running straight towards her with the intent to kill. Tora dashed from the spot were she had stood frozen and ran towards the kitchen.
How she had found the stamina and agility to move, and how she got there was beyond her. The only thought her brain could manage was that she had to escape.
The monster grabbed at her. She screamed and duck, barely missing the huge claws that tore her sweater and scrapped her flesh.
She was petrified. What was she suppose to do? She somehow made her way into the kitchen and by instinct, grabbed any and everything she could manage and threw it at the beast. Of course this made no difference, but she had to try. Pots, pans plates from the kitchen sink, utensils anything that could give her hope.
The monster rushed towards her and she dogged out of the way. It grunted. She saw blood.
Checking if she was hurt she saw that it was the creature. How did it get hurt? Where was it hurt? She shook the thoughts from her mind and in a quick second ran towards the knives. She grabbed two and as she turned around saw that the creature was right in front of her.
She was horrified. Its face was close now. Too close. It's breath was putrid.
Without even thinking, she stabbed the knives in its sides. It howled. Its screech made her ears bleed.
The thing took her by the arm, and flung her into the cabinets above the sink.
She hit her head and dropped to the ground in a daze. She had lost connection with the human world.

"Wasn't the lake a lot of fun Jim?" Asked Venice dreamily.
"Naw. Not really"
"But, it was better because I was there right?", she batted her eyelids at him cheekily.
" Hmm, I guess your right", he said nonchalantly.
"Oh Jim!", she exclaimed. " Why don't you and I just -"
"Sorry for disrupting this love fiasco but...", interrupted Steven, "What happened to the front door?".
"What?", they asked surprised. They looked towards the cabin to find the front door barely hanging on one hinge.
They got out of the car. Danny and Daola were already heading towards the cabin. There car was parked ahead.
"Oh my god! What the hell happened here?!", they heard her yell. They rushed inside and was shocked by the spectacle that behold them.
The table was in shreds, and the place was a mess.
"It looked like our dear angel Tora threw a wild party without inviting us", Jim stated, smirking.
"Where is Tora? Tora? Tora!", yelled her cousin. She began to panic. Tora didn't answer and she was nowhere in sight.
"Aaaah", she heard Daola scream. Venice rushed to the direction of the noise. Daola had made her way to the kitchen. "Food is the only thing worth stressing your brain over", she remembered her saying one day.
"Holy shit!", exclaimed Jim. " Guess someone had too much to drink".
"Tora doesn't drink!", said Venice frightened. Tora was on the floor. She wasn't moving, and it didn't seem as if she was breathing.
"There's always a first time for everything", he said jokingly.
"Shut up Jim!", yelled Daola. She was now lifting Tora's head onto her lap. Something she learnt in her first aid medic class.
"Oh God there's blood! She's bleeding! Daola, she's bleeding!", Venice started to scream. She was absolutely frightened out of her mind. If Tora died, what was she gonna tell her uncle? Most important, her father? No more expensive cruises she thought with utter sadness.
"Okay nobody panic. Especially you Ven", Daola started saying. "Go get some bandages and wet towels for her head. I think she has a concussion. And as for the boys, clean up this mess!"
"Hey! Who died and made you queen?!", asked Jim. Daola gave him that death glare that they all know and hate. In a few hours, everyone was finished cleaning up. Tora was cleaned up and put on the sofa to rest.
"Ugh", she woke up with a killer headache. Not the best way to wake up, but definitely not the worst.
"She's awake!", yelled Venice happily. She rushed towards her and gave her a tight squeeze. Tora, being the not hugger type that she is, tried to force herself free. But saw that it was useless so gave up trying.
"Oh look she's awake. The joy and happiness I'm feeling right now", said Jim sarcastically. Tora rolled her eyes.
"What happened?", she asked.
"That's what we'd like to know?"
"What?", she asked confused.
"We came here to find the door ajar, inside the house and the kitchen a mess. Steven is busy fixing the door. We found you unconscious, lying on the floor in your own blood. Not a good way to spend the night".
"Jim your being an ass again", stated Daola. Jim smirked.
"What? Why would I be on the floor in my own...", her voice trailed off. It came to her so quickly that her head began to hurt. She went pale. She was already pale from the cold but she went paler. She began to scream. Everyone was startled.
"What the hell?!", yelled Jim.
"Monster! There's a monster here!"
"What?!", everyone asked.
"There's a monster here! A monster!".
"Wait", started Venice, " maybe you were hallucinating? You were passed out on the floor for quite some time".
"I wasn't hallucinating!", she continued to yell. "There was one believe me. I know how this sounds but you have to believe me. There was a monster in here".
"Wait, how do you know that?"
"I saw it".
"Your joking".
"I'm serious. It was huge and terrifying. It smelled awful and it tried to eat me"
"Oh c'mon. Are we really gonna sit here and listen to this crap?!", Jim asked
"Well then Jim", Tora began to say, " since your such a smartass tell me this. How did the room look like what it did? You think I did it? A so- called weak girl like me, as your always saying".
"Ah, well.... It was probably just a bear then. That's more logical than some stupid story about some monster", he replied confidently.
"What?", she asked surprised.
"Well that is true Tora. That's probably what happened. It might have just been looking for food when you saw it and mistook it for a monster since the place was barely lit", said her cousin.
Tora couldn't believe what she was hearing. They thought she was going nuts. "You can't be serious!! Your really taking his words over mine? Ven, you know I don't lie. I'm not a liar".
"I wasn't saying you were lying am just saying you may be over exaggerating things".
"Your shitting me!!". Just then, they heard a loud ear shattering howl.
Silence.
"W-w-what the heck was that?", Jim was the first to say.
They heard it again. This time louder and closer than before. Suddenly they heard a bang on the side board of the fireplace.
They shrieked.
Tora remembered something about Steven fixing the door. She looked to see if he was there. He wasn't.
She went as white as chalk. It seemed as if all the blood had drained from her body. She started to shout for Steven. They then realized what was wrong. Steven was missing. Jim and Danny rushed outside while Tora yelled at them to stop.
They disappeared in the darkness. They waited with batting breath for a yell, a noise anything. But all they could hear was silence.
