"Seeing as you are a magic beast hunter, I felt this information might be useful to you," Old man Croan stated.
'Oh, it turns out this was the reason for the questions earlier?' Landria thought as he stared at the pamphlet.
"Barbaois City..." Landria voiced out as he turned to his left to look up ahead.
Miles ahead, tall walls could be seen barricading whatever piece of land was up ahead.
There was also a massive seven-meter tall steel gate which was positioned in the middle. Visible small figures could be spotted standing on the walls which were suspected to be guards.
Clearksy Town was situated on the east border of Barbaois city which was why the tall walls of the city were visible from any part of the town.
Landria stared at the pamphlet once more checking out the date of the occasion.
"Three weeks from now," He had a contemplative look on his face as he voiced out.
"What do you think? will you try to get the creature?" Old man Croan asked.
"I'll think about it. Thank you for telling me," Landria said with an appreciative tone.
"No big deal just be careful if you decide to hunt them. Many other hunters will be embarking on this very objective which will make it more dangerous," Old man Croan said before waving Landria goodbye.
Landria left the stall and began moving towards the area where he would get a carriage back to Riverbeak town.
He paused his footsteps after moving for some time and turned around to stare at the town.
'That tower... I should probably check it out today,' Landria thought as he stared in the direction where a seven-story tall tower could be seen in the distance.
Landria occasionally heard a few talks about how it was the town's magic library but he has never gone to check it out.
The mana in Clearksy town was way more concentrated than back in Riverbeak town so Landria occasionally came into contact with Mages.
Most of the hunters in town could use basic magic which also aided in their hunts.
This meant the mages in this town would mostly be Beginner Level Mages and a few might already be Apprentice Level Mages based on the mana concentration in town.
Landria felt their magic library would not be useful for him since the apprentice Level was most likely the highest level that could be attained around here which was why he never tried to visit but now that he wanted to build a mana reactor tool, he needed all the information he could get.
That is if he could get any information from any of their books there at all.
He had never really strolled around the town before so he decided to also use this as an opportunity to do so.
Chatter! Chatter! Chatter!
Even though nightfall was approaching, the streets were still as noisy as ever with people moving to and fro.
Some were returning from their daily activities looking tired while some were looking lively as ever as they chatted with the companions around them while walking.
Carriages moved about the streets and the lanterns within the households by the sides began to light up.
"Come and have a good time with us, pretty boy,"
"Don't worry I'll charge less if you take me home for a good time,"
He passed by the corner of a street where prostitutes wearing makeup were trying to draw his attention with their seductive gestures and words.
There was a two-story wooden structure behind them that had a sign which said, "Haven of dreams!"
There were other ladies positioned at the top balcony area making all sorts of attractive gestures at other men walking around this side of this street as well.
'A brothel... father did tell me about this one. It's where a man goes to have a good time I suppose?' Landria thought with an intrigued gaze.
He seemed quite naive about what exactly was the nice time his father meant.
He remembered when he asked his father why he never went there. His father responded with, "Your mother will kill me. I only visited such places in my younger days,"
Landria was intrigued but he had more important on his agenda so he wasted no time in moving past the street.
Some men branched over there with excited looks on their faces which made Landria believe it was truly a place of fun.
After walking for a few more minutes, Landria arrived in front of the tower and wasted no time before heading in.
The moment he got in, his line of sight was filled with floating book racks that extended all the way up.
There were small stairs in different areas that were structured in a circular way around pillars that extended to the ceiling of the tower.
This was the only way to get books that were higher up since there were no actual floors.
Landria moved around the place trying to see if he could find a pattern or a way in which the books were categorized.
Checking some at the bottom level, he could see there were some books with information on basic magic spells, mana core, magical beasts, and many other things related to magic as one would expect from a magic library.
From what he could see here, there were over five thousand books. Sorting through them to find what he wanted would be an issue if he couldn't find out how they were categorized.
It turned out this place was bigger than he thought.
"Good sir, we will be closing up soon," A loud voice drew his attention from the far end of the magic library.
Landria stared in the direction where the voice came from and spotted a black-haired teenage boy with a thin frame.
He had a pale white skin tone with a binocular covering his right eye which radiated with inexplicable brilliance.
He proceeded to walk towards him where there was a small wooden counter in front.
"I am looking for books with guides on how to make magic tools," Landria assumed this teenage boy was in charge which seemed a bit odd.
"What type of magic tools?" The boy inquired.
"The type capable of drawing mana from every direction to a single location... a mana reactor," Landria explained.
"Oh that... hmm... would still be up there certainly collecting dust," The boy voiced out like an old scholar.
"Collecting dust?" Landria stated with a look of confusion.
"I'll show you where to check, follow me," The boy said while coming out of the counter area.
He showed Landria to a part of the library in the east area and told him he had to climb to the highest point to check the books on racks there.
Landria nodded and thanked him before he began climbing upwards.
According to the boy, he had to get to the highest point which was up to seven stories of climbing.
-
About thirty minutes later Landria was walking out of the library with a dirt-colored thirteen inches long book in his hand. It took him some time but he was able to locate one of the magic books which had the title he was looking for.
The town's magic library was supposed to have closed earlier but the teenage boy decided to give Landria more time to look for it.
Two silver pieces was the sum paid to hold onto the book for two weeks so he didn't want to miss out on that.
When Landria asked why it was so expensive to borrow the book for only two weeks the teenage boy replied, "Learning the magical arts is expensive. Everyone knows that,"
Unfortunately, Landria didn't know that since he learned everything for free back when he was still in the Lebenoire family vicinity.
A blood stamp was done to make sure the book would be returned and Landria went on his way.
-
Days went by and Landria continued his usual schedule of hunting, refining his mana core, and selling the beasts he killed.
He also took time to refresh his memory about creating the mana reactor with the book he got from the magic library.
During the last few days, Landria had been disturbed by Lyra who would intercept him on his way back from the forest asking him to teach her magic.
Landria still did not budge and refused her each time saying he wouldn't waste his time with a rude person.
She made it her daily task to intercept him and beg. When begging didn't work she would throw all sorts of insults at him and leave.
Landria had thick skin so he didn't care about all the insults and even sometimes exchanged vulgar words with her.
After a few more days, Landria was sure he would be able to create the mana reactor tool now so long as he had the materials needed.
Now the next step was to gather the materials listed in the book.
