Chapter 55: Cruelty
Asher watched her half expecting her to slap him or punch him for disappearing on her but she simply stood there and she stared at him. She looked every bit as beautiful as the day he left and he didn't even know how much he really missed her until just now.
Her hair was down and her eyes contained a glint of curiosity and hurt. Asher knew he had been unfair to her but he didn't have a choice.
(Tell her the truth)
His conscience told him but he couldn't, for Starr's sake and his but damn! How he really missed her. He took a step closer when he saw she was not in a hurry to say something.... anything to him through those tightly pressed together lips he had dreamt of for over a month.
Asher pushed a few of her hair behind her ear, so he could see more of her face.
"Calliope…" He murmured but it did nothing.
She simply swallowed her saliva loudly and fought the tears trying to embarrass her further.
