Chapter 61: breaking and entering to say I like you
Pepper dropped from the cab and stood in front of her house a few seconds before she walked towards it.
For some reason, June was sitting on her pouch with a sour look on her face and fidgeting hands. As soon as she saw Pepper she stood up and waited for her to approach her.
"Pepper…are you alright?" June couldn't hold her best friend's gaze for more than two seconds.
"The bullet barely made a dent. I am fine" Pepper answered.
"Thank God. I was really worried when I heard the news"
She has had a crappy day and a friend she has issues with was the last person she wanted to see. Not with what just transpired between herself and Asher a few hours ago.
"What are you doing here, Junie?" Pepper rubbed her eyes. She was suddenly exhausted.
"We need to talk, Pepper…"
"You think I don't know that but not now…"
"Pepper, please…" June grabbed her hand.
