Chereads / The Drowning Alpha / Chapter 13 - Seconds

Chapter 13 - Seconds

Gal tried telling her brother how her day was, and even though her clothes were wet she did the expressions of every person she was impersonating at work.

She knew her brother, and she was sure he was pretending to be interested in whatever she was saying, something was stressing her brother out and Gal wanted to know. But how was she supposed to ask without her feeling like she was asking too much?

Yes, they were siblings. But Gal knew her baby brother wasn't the one to be pushed around. If there was something he wanted to ask he was going to ask, if there was something he needed to know he would do the same.

Even though her work was boring something has happened and that's why she came to pick Jordan up while it was raining.

She asked her brother a question, and it was received with nothing. Turning to look at him, he was already staring at her.

"Why are you looking at me like that baby brother Jordan?" Gal asked smiling with a happy tone.

Nothing.

Gal didn't expect that, she wanted her brother to answer her with a question and then their conversation would turn to that of questions and questions, and then they would have fun, and it would be a nice way of spending her evening with her brother while they were walking together home.

But nothing, Jordan only stared at him and it made Gal feel awkward.

"Have I said something wrong, or embarrassing?" She asked him.

Gal thought of the possibility of giving out the wrong information to her brother as she was wet and maybe she had finally told him about Sheryl?

"There is no need for me to be doubtful, we have been walking like what five-ten minutes?" She asked herself.

Was it possible for her to forget what she had said in those few minutes?

Gal had to ask her brother again, she wasn't sure because a lot can happen in seconds.

People die in seconds.

Babies are born every second.

Werewolves get hunted down in seconds.

A rogue can attack you in a second.

A good life experience can happen in a second.

And Gal wanted to know for sure if she had said something which made Jordan quiet.

"Okay Jordan you need to tell me what is going on, are you okay? Are you cold?" She asked him.

They had to stop, as Gal was now kneeling in front of him by the side of the road.

Jordan smiled at her sister and said, "seriously Gal, do you have to kneel? It is not like I am a child anymore."

"Yes, you are. Yes, you are." Gal told him while touching his cheeks.

Jordan tried to move past her but Gal held his hands, and then Jordan took his bag and put it on Gal's head.

"You know it wasn't a must for you to kneel, I could have either look up at you or you look down at me, you know?" Jordan started.

"Yes," Gal said and nodded, her face serious and a passer-by wouldn't think Jordan was telling his sister of the reason as to why it was not a must for her to kneel.

"You know when you are kneeling in front of me it shows that you have respect, in school, we were taught that when someone kneels it showed they have respect," Jordan said while looking as if his mind was on that day they were taught on kneeling.

"That is nice, kneeling and respect, okay," Gal said and that made her brother kneel too, and they looked like two crazy people.

"Hi, yes my brother is teaching me something useful here," Gal said to a random passer-by.

The person didn't respond to her, and just shook his head and walked past them.

"You want to join us?" Jordan shouted at him.

Gal laughed, and Jordan looked at his sister smiling. It had been long since he last heard his sister's laughter. And if this was making her laugh, then he was going to talk more about kneeling and maybe build a tent on the road where they were and stay there kneeling.

He was worried about his sister and anything which was going to bring her happiness was welcomed.

"Can I call Timothy? I have thought of something," Jordan told his sister.

"Oh, about school?" Gal asked.

"No, I want him to bring a tent for us."

"For what?" Gal looked around the number of people was reducing. Maybe one or two, it was getting late and it has just stopped raining, it was cold too, and that meant most people were in their houses drinking coffee or tea, and others in their beds.

For the Oceans Pack, werewolves a time like this they were not outside either. Most of them were in their rooms inquiring from each other how their day was.

"Jordan," a realization hit Gal as she saw Jordan touching the ground. He was as if he was testing something.

"Okay, this can work as our site," Jordan said with a serious face.

"I will call Timothy later, so about kneeling. The teacher said there was this man who washed his friends' knees and that showed humility,"

"Where is this going?" Gal asked herself.

"Kneeling, so you know even the alpha kneels in front of his wife and his family. Do you remember that story you used to read to me while I was young about the king who asked his subjects to kneel while talking to him? I think kneeling is…"

"Okay Jordan enough with the kneeling, please? Enough lessons about that now. Maybe tell me when we are home?"

The kneeling explanation had gone too far, and their house was the best place to have that type of conversation and not on the road.

"I am worried about you sister," Jordan told her with sadness dripping in his voice.

Gal was shocked, the kneeling talk wasn't supposed to be followed by her brother saying he was worried about her, yes her brother looked worried but Gal didn't expect that.

"Why? Don't be worried, I am supposed to worry about you. And not you worrying about me." Gal told him reassuringly.

"Yeah, right. Now I am too young to worry about you, seriously when are you going to get that, I am grown now." Jordan said and walked past Gal making her almost fall down.

"That was, oh my, I think he is mad at you," her wolf told her.

"Oh, you think?" Gal asked it and stood up.

"Hey relax, don't get all worked up at me, I am not the one hiding some things from their brother," the wolf said.

"Oh, shush!"
