Chapter 14 - Forever?

"I love the fresh air after the rain, oh the smell of the sand, if only I could be let free, I could eat it. If only, I could be let free, oh freedom. I wish it was still raining," the wolf said in a singing voice.

"Keep dreaming, keep dreaming," Gal said, she was drenched wet and her wolf loved it, even wished it was the one in the rain. It was crazy.

She had been rained on while walking to pick her brother Jordan from Timothy's home, she hadn't seen the news regarding the weather or anything and the rain got her by surprise. And that meant walking in the rain with no umbrella or a sweater.

She didn't want to ask Timothy's mother to bring her brother home as she didn't want what happened the previous day to repeat itself. In a week she wanted her level of worry to stay where it was.

The work stress was eating her up, planning the swimming competition was making her heart cringe, and her brother's idea to start a swimming team made it even worse.

She had lots of things in her mind.

And now that they were walking with her brother mad at her, Gal felt like her head was going to burst.

Now not only was she worried about her brother's need to start a swimming team but also her brother was mad at her because she couldn't tell him what was going on.

"Beta Sheryl," her wolf reminded her.

"Oh, great thanks a lot for reminding me. It wasn't like I asked you or anything," she sassed back at the wolf.

Beta Sheryl.

She was on top of Gal's problems list, she didn't know how she was going to make that woman go away, or maybe she could leave the woman at the Oceans Pack and pack hers and Jordan's bag and go to a different place?

"I am not a rogue; I will just be moving to a different with my brother," she reassured herself.

She hated thinking of herself as a rogue, she was happy they had found a perfect place to lay low. She was scared of what was going to happen with her brother if she just moved abruptly.

Yes, Jordan was going to be pissed but Gal was going to explain why they had to move, and she would explain. Everything.

Or not.

Jordan was still a kid, under Gal's guidance, she acted more like a mother to him than a sister. And parents always made the best decisions for their kids. It wasn't like a mother was going to decide something harmful for her kids, Gal thought of her mother and any possibility of any decision she could have made for her.

Like which school she could attend, what clothes to wear. Yes, the list was small but she knew that whatever her mother would have done it would have been for Gal's best interest.

Gal wanted the same for her brother, she wanted to protect him from any disappointment he could ever face.

She hadn't planned on staying at the Oceans Pack for long, but now after Jordan became comfortable with everything, she didn't want to think of what would happen if she took her brother out of the Humble Hearts School, far away from Timothy and Oceans Pack.

Jordan was young with a big heart and Gal knew her brother would forgive her, after all, it was always family first, and the best way to live harmoniously is through forgiveness and understanding.

Everything had a reason, and after an explanation, Gal hoped Jordan would understand and forgive her.

It wasn't like Jordan had any many people he would miss apart from Timothy and his mother, and Michaela and the new friend he had just found. He would find himself another best friend.

"How long would it take anyway?" Gal asked herself.

"A day or two or a week. Or maybe a year, or... forever." The wolf said, Gal shut her eyes, she was ready for a perfect comeback, no one asked the wolf for any comment or an answer.

"Ok, am off to sleep." The wolf told her before she could tell it to shush, its guidance was not required.

Gal's heart skipped a beat, had she made her brother become a lone wolf as she was.

Counting the number of people her brother knew, Gal wasn't happy about that, it was only one person she wasn't friended with that her brother was a friend to.

Thinking of that made her worry, what if her brother became like her? He was still young and Gal didn't want that for him, and after moving she was going to make sure they stayed there.

His brother won't stay mad at her forever, Gal was her only family. She was his only true pack.

"Forever?" Gal asked herself.

Forever? Hell no!

It was bad already for her to live with no parents, to be an orphan from such a tender age, and Jordan was the only person she had close to family.

"And Michaelaaaa," the wolf said in a singing tone.

"Damn it! Didn't you say you were going to sleep?"

"Was just reminding you an important person. And me, how could you? I am your family," The wolf said to her, and Gal imagined how it looked down feeling dejected.

"Never mind. I am you!" It continued.

"There is no need for that, I know we are one."

"I..." The wolf started but stopped when Jordan talked.

"Sister, why are you always thinking?" Jordan asked with a low voice as if he had been contemplating asking her sister that.

Yes, he had been thinking if he should ask again and hoped for an answer without Gal telling him how young he was and not to worry.

It wasn't as if he didn't have a mind of his own.

He zipped his jacket and looked at Gal, Gal always had a spare for him in his bag. With everything going on in their lives the last thing she needed was her brother getting sick.

"Gal are you okay?" Jordan asked again, he was worried.

"Am I okay?" Gal asked herself, how was she going to answer her brother when she couldn't answer herself either.

It wasn't the first time that her brother has asked her that, and if they were at their place she always had a divert answer or question like, "Jordan bring your plate or Jordan where is the art you were making, or Jordan how was school today?"

But they were on the road, Jordan had already told her he was worried. He stayed for a short moment mad at Gal, and even though Gal felt bad about making her brother mad she didn't have an answer to any of his questions.

Where was she going to send her brother to? Or what was she going to ask him?

"How was school today baby brother Jordan?" Yes, that was a perfect one. They haven't talked about his day so far.

And they were almost at the pack house and that meant she was going to have something to make Jordan do for him to forget his quest on knowing what was wrong with his sister.

"The boy is on fire today, asked him again how was school," the wolf told her, and before she could open her mouth and tell the wolf that was brilliant Jordan touched her arm and stopped walking.

Gal looked at him wondering if they were going to arrive at the Oceans Pack, pack house.

"What is going on?" Jordan asked again.

He wasn't going to stop, he needed to be answered and if that meant staying on the road all night, then that was what he was going to do.
