Waking up in the morning, it felt like someone had ran me over...continuously. My body was so sore, and I wasn't even sure why. I didn't have practice the day before, and I didn't do anything that night. I thought for a second then groaned, that was actually a lie, Grace wanted to go out for a run last night saying I needed to build stamina, and she practically killed me. It would have been better if the car had ran me over after all, but that was only wishful thinking.
I groaned and I heard a squeak next to me as I looked down to see where it was coming from. Grace was yawning beside me as she stretched herself wiggling this way and that. I poked her side and she yelp her eyes flashed for a brief moment from brown to gold and back again. I sat up looking at her confused, and she looked at me confused as well. A little concern on her face as she watched me.
"You ok Alie?" But I couldn't speak, was it the trick of the light, or was I just tired? I closed my eyes and used the palm of my hand to rub at them, before looking back at her and blinking. "What!?" she asked again more frustrated this time.
"I just....your, your eyes." I spoke getting closer to her face as she pulled back from me. "Your eyes look like they keep shifting color but I swear, at first they look like your normal brown then gold but then its gone."
Grace froze, almost horrified by what I was saying, before rolling her eyes at me and shoving at my shoulders so she could get up and start dressing. "You're just seeing things Alie, its all in you head."
I was a little hurt by her words, she was never this mean in the morning, what was up with her. "Moody are we?"
Grace turned her head like a viper, she almost seemed offended by my words before her face soften as she spoke. "I'm sorry, I'm just hungry." her voice soften as well, as she started to put her cloths on getting ready for school.
I frowned at her but didn't say anything while I rolled over in my bed and grabbing cloths from the dresser and putting them on too. I slipped my hand under the pillow I had been sleeping on and pulled out my phone, it was 6:30am and the first time I had actually woken up on time, it would take us 20 minutes to get ready and we had enough time to take the bus back to school.
When i opened the door to my room, I could hear both my parents leaving, while my mother slammed the door behind her my brother opened his looking furious. I pointed at the front door where our parents just left, "Mom." My brother growled, and when I mean growled, I literally mean an animalistic type of growl, one I haven't heard before. He turned back around and slammed the door.
I stood there confused as hell, what was up with everyone this morning first Grace then George, and my mother slamming the door. I scratched my head for a moment confused with this morning, when my phone vibrated in my hand. Looking down I saw it was Aries. I groaned... Not him, not now, not on top of everything that has happened today. Unlocking my phone it was a single text.
I'm out side.
Great so much for taking the bus back. I groaned again just as Grace came around the corned.
"What happened?" Grace was tone of voice was curious as I looked down at my phone.
"Aries is outside waiting to take us to school." I was still looking down at my phoned annoyed at the fact that I didn't have a say in the matter of who would take me, or how I would get to school.
"I told you, he has a thing for you."
"He's just being nice." I looked up to see Grace had walked back into my room, grabbing our bookbags before coming back, holding out my bag to me.
"It's more then, just nice to me." She said snickering and sticking her tongue out at me. I just rolled my eyes at her.
Knocking on George's door before I left I yelled as I walked out the door, "I'm going!"
I heard a thump, before he yelled "I DON'T CARE!"
I closed the door, scrunching my face at his words, and mocked him as I locked the door behind me. I heard a tap on the window next me as I turned my head George was watching me from the window flipping me the bird before moving the curtains back from his window blocking me again.
How rude, jerk.
I heard a honk and turned to face the street behind me to see Aries furious face, had he seen what George did? Probably, not like my brother cared though. Grace was already at the car looking between me and Aries truck. I just rolled my eyes as she opened the door to the back seat and hoped in.
Why did she go to the back seat, it just made me have to sit next to Aries and I knew she was doing this on purpose too...damn her. I just frowned at her as she smile devilishly from the backseat window. Brat.
Walking up to the car I could feel his eyes on me but I didn't want to look at him, I didn't have anything to say, and I could guess I was still in trouble for yesterday. Getting in the car I kept my eyes down not wanting to look at him but I could see the tension radiating off him, the anger and confusion definitely from yesterday. I cleared my throat as I mustered the courage to finally look at him.
His eyes were a startling green, both bright and determined as he looked at me annoyance on his face. Yea...definitely mad at me. I gave him a hesitant animal caught doing something they weren't suppose too, type of smile. His face fell into a frown as he looked away from me and focused on his driving as he put the car in drive, pulling away from the sidewalk. I could hear Grace in the back seat snicker to herself, yea keep it up wait till we got to school.
The car ride was super quiet and tense but I watched as we drove by contemplating when he would speak up. It wasn't till we got to school and Aries parked down the block that I realized what he was waiting for. I just had to beat him to it. As soon as he parked I unbuckled myself but Aries was quicker, he caught the belt just as it had released from the buckle and plugged me back in his hand held over the latch so I wouldn't unfasten myself again.
I staired at him disbelieving, then turned to Grace behind me, she just looked between the two of us and slowly shut the door before coming to the passenger window.
"Whatcha doing Aries?" Grace asked a hint of amusement in her voice.
"I need to talk to Alex in private," his tone of voice was both annoyed and stern, making Grace take a step back with her hands up.
"Sure, ok." She took a few steps back before turning and walking away, alongside the school building heading to the front entrance. I panicked knowing i was about to get scolded by Aries, no don't leave me with him...
I felt the pressure in the car rise as I slunk back into my seat hoping I could just disappear. I turned my head to look at Aries, his frown creased his forehead but his eyes were looking at me like he was dead serious.
"Are you going to explain yourself or am I gonna have to force it out of you?" His voice sent shivers up my spine, oh boy he was mad.
"Uh..." I tried to come up with something witty but everything seemed to evade me at least any excuse I could come up with.
"You should have told me you were going to take the bus. You should have said Grace was going to be with you. You really need to start telling me things Alex," His tone of voice seem concerned and genuine, but he wasn't my brother or my boyfriend, he didn't have a right for anything.
Inhaling I mustered up what courage I could and sat up taller in my seat making Aries sit back in his looking a little confused, thinking about what he told me yesterday fueled me emotionally as I felt heat rushed to my cheeks. "Listen here mister, you are the one that lied to me yesterday remember or did you forget? Besides, we aren't friends, you're my brothers friend, and as far as I'm concerned you aren't my keeper either." I had to keep up the momentum I couldn't give into him now, "You are a liar and...and" I stuttered for a moment, then it hit me. "And you a snake, a flirt, and a liar. You said you and Ellie weren't dating but there she was yesterday hanging all over you." I gave him a firm poke to his chest but he grabbed my finger before I could pull my hand away.
"A liar? A flirt?" His eyebrow raised questioning me with a smirk on his face.
"That's what you got out of that? And let my finger go." I frowned tugging at my hand, but he didn't let it go he held my wrist firm in his hand and didn't let me go, but I continued to tug for my hand back.
"Alex, I didn't lie about Ellie. There is nothing going on with me and her, she's just a friend I swear." I stopped trying to free my hand from his grip and instead just sat back watching him.
"What you do has nothing to do with me." I turned my head to look back up the street, it was getting late, I could feel it, but Aries wasn't letting me go. "Look, can I have my hand back now?"
Aries tugged my arm pulling me closer and making me turn my head giving him my full attention, only for the fact that now I was practically sitting in the center console. I squeaked with surprised, Aries face now inches from mine as he looked me over. I held my breath and tried not to make eye contact, being so close to him was starting to make me feel...well weird. My heart was fluttering and twisted almost like I was sea sick.
"Alex?" His voice was a whisper as I felt the heat from his breath on my cheek. I turned my head to look at him and met his bright green eyes. "As far as flirting...I thought you weren't catching on to that." His voice was so low I had to strain to hear his words.
"What?" My eyes went wide with surprise as I looked at him, "excuse me?"
"Did you hear me?" He smiled, it felt like he was inching closer our noses almost touching now.
"I think I heard you, but what did you say?" It felt like I was about to have a heart attack, did he say what I think he said? He was purposely flirting with me?
"Alex, I-" His words were caught off when there was a knock at the window shocking the both of us as I jumped back into my seat, and Aries releasing my wrist. Oh God!, Oh God! Ellie was at the window, smiling and waving like she didn't see anything, her hair fell in tight bouncy curls around her face. Ugh she was perfect.
I cleared my throat and quickly opened the door scrambling to get out. Ellie stepped back giving me room to exit the car, but I turned grabbing my bag quickly while Ellie still stood in the doorway of the car making me walk around her. Looking down at the floor, I couldn't meet Aries eye or Ellie's, as I mumbled my goodbye, and practically ran from his car rushing to enter school.
"Alex!" I could hear Aries call my name but continued to ignore him as I walked further from the car and into the school.
Oh my god what was happening? I prayed that Ellie wouldn't come looking for me later on today. I didn't have a single clue what I would tell her if she asked what I was doing with Aries...in his car.
I felt the heat rush to my cheeks and I had to cover my face as I walked into the main building of the school, God forbid anyone see me. Ugh, today was starting out to be a difficult one.
