Initially, when Sebastian had asked Charis to accompany him for a business meeting she thought it would be something more formal, so she prepared everything. She hadn't expected to see Sebastian show up in a white polo, a pullover, and white trousers as well. He even had on the gloves and the cap, she knew he was handsome and she knew she should have expected that of course, he would look just that good in anything else but that didn't mean she was swooning all over again.
The reality of her situation dawned on her when she was asked to grab the golf bag and the moment she tried to lift it she stumbled. He hadn't even glanced back once, he just kept walking. Expecting to follow behind him no worries.
Now she couldn't even catch a break, how did she think this man was attractive? How could he not even have a conscience, at least if he did not have the manners of a gentleman then at least have some conscience at least? But just as he did not have a conscience she did not have a backbone so she nodded and hoisted the bag up, hugging it to her chest. "Of course, I can carry it, no problem."
"Let's head to the course first," the other man said, at first she panicked when she realized he said that until she saw the golf carts.
'Just make it to the golf carts' she said to herself, 'don't embarrass yourself, you can at least lift it till then.' Dumping the bag into the cart she looked up and saw Sebastian already sitting, sitting in the passenger seat. He held out the key for her, "you can drive this right?"
Panting she nodded and walked to grab the key, started the ignition, and began the drive, following behind the other cart with the man and his secretary. Eventually, they were on the course, some other men already golfing.
"Gentlemen, shall we join you?" Sebastian's business associate called out and they turned to them.
"Ah, Mr. Montgomery! Is that? Sebastian Delvey?"
"Hello gentlemen" Sebastian greeted all of them, while Charis battled with the bag, lagging behind the three men, she watched how the other secretary carried his and envied his ease.
It was easy to tell the employees apart, they were all wearing suits and formal clothes while their bosses were in golf attires. There were five men in with five assistants all of which were all men. For someone insecure, it obviously made Charis uncomfortable. Not to mention, she had no idea what these golf clubs were called so when their bosses asked them to call all these strange names Charis began to beg God in her heart.
And at the start, it was like her prayer was answered because, unlike the other men, Sebastian walked to her to get the clubs he needed.
"New employee?" The secretary from earlier asked.
"Not really, I am just new to being a secretary so I don't really know how to do all this stuff," she said with a friendly smile.
"Weren't you trained by your predecessor?" He asked.
"I had no predecessor, Mr. Delvey just bought our company, and the last secretary was fired along with our last CEO so-"
"Ah... I see. That's too bad then, you are doing very well for a newbie."
"Really? I really do not want to mess up today, it's been really hard. I think I have a really tough boss" she sighed.
"All of them are tough, it's some shitty side effect of having so much money" He winked at her and she had to clasp her plan over her mouth to keep from laughing.
Sebastian noticed it all, watching her chit-chat when she should have been taking note of the environment. He turned bitter all of a sudden and he wanted her to hurt. How dare she laugh when she was lacking in the presence of other secretaries.
If she didn't feel the need to learn he would show it to her, "Charis may I have the 52" wedge?"
Charis' worst nightmare had come to pass, why is he asking her for it now. She looked to her newest friend for help but he was halfway to his boss, the other secretaries stood too far to subtly ask them. She looked up at Sebastian and shook her head in panic, why wouldn't he just come over here and take it himself?
"What?" He asked looking straight at her, everyone had begun to stare at her.
"I don't- I don't know it," she said looking down, the entire group remained silent and she felt like digging a hole.
"Bring me the bag then," he said and she nodded quickly, excited to at least do that to show she was that useless. But that enthusiasm was her downfall because the hand of the bag cut and the force she applied to pick the bag up had her with no support so she ended up falling very awkwardly on her butt.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Sebastian's voice boomed.
