It occurred to Vera belatedly that she had never been inside Casey's apartment before, though she had been at the door plenty of times. Since he had a roommate and she didn't it made more sense for them to hang out at her place. Especially since he didn't want her to meet said roommate.
Speaking of Kane, where was he? He wasn't in the main living area of the apartment. He might be in the bedroom. Or out.
Vera ended up making him instant noodles since that was the quickest thing she could find in the cupboards. He didn't say a word throughout all of this until he had eaten. Then he looked up at her seriously.
"Vera, this isn't working."
"What isn't?"
"Us. I can't be what you want me to be so I think it would be better if we broke up."
Vera gaped at him. Where was this coming from?! He had been completely normal last night and this morning!
