Chapter 6 - Chapter Six

The darkness from the day before surrounded them still. Seeing as there was no any kind of light or sun, Edward had to keep reminding himself to stop excepting there to be. He had to keep reminding himself where he was. Demon Nation, not Nation Valley. Dvina's had been crystal clear to him, when she was explaining everything to him, so why couldn't he remember everything she'd said? Was it because he'd grown so costume to seeing a sun everyday? Even on Earth there was a sun, so he didn't have any time to get used to not seeing it in the mornings. Although, as he awoke himself slowly, from his peaceful night of sleepless thoughts, he found the darkness to be rather terrifying. He didn't want to admit to the others, he felt a tiny bit of fear, when he saw them, moments after he moved from his move-less position. His curled form as a warm one ball. He turned to his right, and smile once he saw Dvina. She was down on her knees, fidgeting with something. Something that gave off a rather interesting scent. He was sure he couldn't link it to cinnamon. Not like he'd imagined last night, during his time with his reflection. Still he wasn't even sure what to think when he thought about that.

The scent, his mothers favorite scent, it smelled so real. As if it was right next to him, seeming so close, someone must've sprayed him with it. But he was sure he couldn't put the blame onto Dvina, or Light for the matter. Just getting to know Light, he wasn't even sure what Dvina had told him. Was there anything he knew regarding their past at all? Had she been comfortable even to talk about any of it? And how long did they know each other? Most likely a long, long, time, seeing as those she guessed Dvina must've been seventeen years old for a long couple of years. Seeing as he understood how immortality worked, even though the time difference was different between both their nations. He knew that much at least. He was sure he wouldn't need to have it explained to him for a second time. He understood a little bit how different things worked on Demon Nation, but he was sure it wouldn't hurt to learn a few things.

''Here, take this.'' He suddenly heard Dvina's sweet voice, as he brought her eyes over to stare at her. The light but vibrant shade of her sliver eyes, stilled with her soft innocent nature, as the sweet bright color of her wine colored hair, moved with the small chill of the breeze that motioned against them.

''Was is this?'' He asked softly, his eyes staring longing at a piece of black meat, stuck onto a small wooden stick. Flakes of ash falling from the stick, as the flames motioned up, inside the piece of meat, as it went out with a single blow of his breath. as Dvina smiled still.

''Bear. Its bear's meat.'' She replied.

Edward couldn't help but cringe at the sight of it, now that he knew what it was, he felt sort of disgusted. Even though he felt uneasy about eating it, he reached for it, taking it from Dvina's hands, as their fingers lightly rubbed against one another. Dvina felt warm at the touch, as he turned his eyes down, the bear meat staring up at him. Swallowing the tightness that formed in his throat now, he tried to ignore the fact that eventually he wasn't going to have to eat it, and tried to make the time go by as best as he could. But before any words could come out, he suddenly found himself rethinking of what had happened in his head during the night. The human reflection of himself, and the so realistic sent of cinnamon, which he'd just been told from the reflection, it was his mothers favorite scent. He thought about what might happen if he opened his mouth to tell Dvina about it, and for a second, he thought against it, until he saw Dvina's features again. Taking in the bright shade of her hair, and her sliver eyes. The day previously, he'd been told Dvina was offend called a mini - version of their mother. So that mean't, he could see what she'd looked like long ago. So as pleased as he suddenly was with himself, he was also happy. For he tried to pressure the reflection of himself, into giving him any details he could regarding his mother, but to his surprise, he was no able to pin point all his questions into answers. Noticing now he had another one answered. He knew what his mother used to look like. Wine colored hair, and light blue eyes. She had a thing for cinnamon scented spray, and later would give birth to three children. A girl, a boy, and the youngest, another boy. The youngest being him. First and middle being Dvina and Barron.

''Edward? Are you okay?'' He heard Dvina's voice ask him. Pulling himself from his thoughts again, he found her confused, concerned eyes. Light, who sat a few inches to the sight of her, stared as well. Even though the blackness of what seemed to be some ink, had started to form all around his forehead, shielding and keeping his eyes covered, so Edward could not be able to see through him.

''I'm fine, I'm just thinking about things.'' He replied.

''Things? Like what kind of things? Are you thinking more about mom? I can try to answer anything you might ask me?'' She replied.

''If you say so, did mom like to talk about her personal life? Like were there things she refused to talk to you about? Anything at all?'' He wondered.

''Our mom was very secretive, Edward. She wasn't always like that, not at first. I think it stared to show more, the more she and Dad became less talkative towards one another. I was able to hear about a few times in which they were completely in love, from mom's closet friend, Rose, but that's all. After that, she just started refusing to talk to me, bring up anything about dad.'' She whispered. ''I never knew exactly why.''

''Do you think she appeared more stressed and distant after she had me? Would you say it was my fault?'' He whispered.

''No! Not at all, everything seemed to stress her out after dad left, I doubt it was because of anything you did. You were only a child, a baby! If she was stressed, she certainty never talked about it. Like I never saw her yelling at you, or breaking down because of you. Whenever you were with her, she always seemed the most peaceful. The most at peace, joyful, and happy. That is why I said you were her favorite! Cause she was always at her best with you.'' She finished.

''Really?'' Edward asked, surprised, but relived to hear it wasn't his fault.

''Really.'' Dvina answered as she took a whole chunk of her bear's meat. As she did this, Edward was forced to stare down at his, the scent of it lingering past his nostrils, as he cringed a second time. Never on Nation Valley had he ever been given a animal to eat. The gardens were always stocked and supplied them fresh vegetables and fruit. Nation Valley could be considered vegan, for no meat every touched their taste buds. That much he knew about. For his mother, Jewel, had told him the term ''vegan'' and he was suddenly interested. Most things he was told or taught by his mother. His father, talk him combat, and training, His sister a tiny bit as well. Still hard to believe his mother had anything to do with Cole being allowed to be imprisoned without anyone asking a single question. Or the factial statement still hadn't been proven to him, whether or not his mother was aware. But surely she was, how do you just continue living when your son suddenly goes missing? Surely if that happened, she'd have made more of a fuss about it, then how calm she was most of the time. Jewel was never one to be angry or disappointed about something. His father though, boy did he have a good shouting voice, for when he got into trouble. And how many times a day, he would be in trouble. The play by play he had of being punished by his adopted father, only made it hurt more, now that he knew he had another family. A human family. Siblings in which he'd been kept from, and a mother who'd lost her life, because of unpromising research.

The one at fault here was Barron's adoptive father. The one who'd passed away a couple years after Barron's adoptive mother. The one in which he shared the most love with. What Edward couldn't seem to make himself understand, was why Barron's father needed him? Why he was so eager to perform the operation that gave him lungs to be able to breathe the air while on Demon Nation, what was the need for another son? Especially after his wife had given birth to perfectly good sons way before Barron had been born, and the plan to be created, for him to be his new son.

''Not feeling that hungry this morning, Edward?'' Dvina asked him. Their eyes met again, as he put down the stick with the bear's meat, his fingers uncurling from around the stick, as Dvina was quick to grab it, before it could hit the grass. Edward was instantly startled when he returned his attention. Staring at the stick now in Dvina's hands.

''You're not okay, are you?'' She finally ask, ignoring her ''he's fine'' thought she had in the back of her head, as she tried to ignore her prying and give him space, seeing now, her brother needed more than space. For her, he'd had enough space away from her. Now was her time. Moving herself closely over to where she sat, which was a few inches away, she turned herself to look past her shoulder, where she handed the two sticks of bear meat over to Light, Light taking it slowly, as Dvina returned her eyes to Edward. Edward was confused at first, but felt himself feeling calm now, once he felt Dvina's body lightly against his chest. Her head against the side of his neck, as she hugged. Her arms wrapped around him, as Edward tried his best to hug her back, even though he was seated with his legs out in front of him, which made it difficult with Dvina's hugging him, for he couldn't bend his legs.

''I'll be fine, now that you're with me..'' He whispered as he held his hand firmly against his little sister's head. The scent of her hair was sweet at first, which only seemed to remind him of the sweet scent of cinnamon he'd smelled during his time with his reflection. The same scent his mother apparently loved so much. He frowned as he tried to push the subject of Amara out of his mind, as he returned to his sister. Once Dvina seemed to have enough of him, she pushed herself away from him, and returned to Light. Who with a light smile, returned the two sticks covered with the big chunks of bear meat, holding one out to Edward, who tried to nicely decline, but ended up taking a huge bite out of it, as not to upset her.

The taste was bitterful at first, but seemed to grow more bearable the more bites he took, after every chew and shallow. As he brought his legs toward him, curling himself cris crossed, he held his hands down in front of him, on his lap, as he tried his best to come up with a single plan. The two days he knew were still reminding him of his pain, he knew he'd have to come up with something if he wanted to free Barron from his prison. The thought of not knowing what was happening to him, haunted and stabbed at him the more his fears became a reality.

How badly he'd messed up. Maybe allowing Barron to help him, wasn't the only mistake he'd made. Would it have been better if he kindly declined his help? Could things have turned better had he did anything differently?

''Edward? Please...'' He heard Dvina softly whisper. ''Nothing will happen to Barron, we'll get there in time.''

''How do you know that? Your so sure?'' He replied.

''Because, you're not the only one who's here to save him. You have me, and Light, and once we meet up with her tomorrow, we'll have Twilight. All of us something to offer to the plan, so, don't worry, we'll stop his sentence..'' She believed, a smile resting peacefully on her face.

''You're very positive, Dvina.'' He smiled. ''I like that.''

''Well, someone has to be..'' She replied....

***

''No, I'm tired of always doing what you want, nothing's THAT important, you know!'' Barked a voice..... Girly yet chilling to the bone, none the less.

''Father ordered us to do this, you know the rules! Stop arguing with me about it!'' Barked another, more sinister, and angry sounding tone. This once less girly, and more frozen.

''There'll be plenty of more before this is over, then if you want? You may leave, but you'll get none of it.''

''Good! I don't want it anyways! What your asking of me, is simply inhumane!''

''Get over it, don't you get it! We're not human! This is our nature! Besides, I told you once, I'll tell you again, if you leave now, you'll be left with nothing. And don't forget what happened when you decided to leave. I found you, you almost died....''

''But if we just turn our backs, pretend not to see them, we can finally make everything a little more meaningful! We won't have to follow his orders anymore!''

''Everything.....you know we can't have that, you that that, I've told you that so many times, why must you continue to cry about it? Listen, and listen good! If you do this, you're dead to me.''

Silence came over the two of them, as a horrible gust of cold wind blew through the dark colors in both their hairs. A mix of red and black, gold and pitch raven black.

"You have her eyes...''

"I'm sorry if it upsets you, but I won't help you kill the children of Amara.....''

The frozen voice turned chilling as seconds passed, and the wind began picking up. A knife slashing tone traveled through the horrible wind, as it reached the top of the mountains, traveling through the dark sky of Demon Nation, as her sparkling green eyes glowed, but only for a moment. ''Their already dead, Dove..''
