It was brought to his attention after a few minuets, that he only needed to take a few more steps in front of him, in order to feel completely uncomfortable in the ink, rubbery, suit Light had put him in. The inky material covering his body was to act as replacement clothing. But nothing about the material of rubber, was anything even close to passing as clothing. As he walked, he couldn't help but feel Dvina's eyes pressing lightly on him. From behind she decided to walk, he wasn't sure why she'd decided to move from her original spot, to walk behind him, but he had a small idea. Protection, that had to be it. She's worried she'll be separated again. Edward turned his blank expression into a small, light heated smile, as he quickly snatched up Dvina, pulling her over towards him, and hugging her tightly. She was surprised at first, but seemed to relax a little, once a smile came to her face.
''Hey, you can let go now…'' She suddenly said in a laughter. Edward nodded slowly as he placed her back down to the ground. Both their eyes longing into each others, as Dvina's pale skin and red whined colored hair reminded Edward of their mother. Their mother Amara. She surely wasn't making it up when she said she could be a mini version of her. The coloring of the hair, the bright baby blue eyes, exactly how Dvina had described them, when he asked about her. Although since Dvina's one demon ability was to change her eye color to the beat sliver cat like one, he couldn't see the bright baby blue eyes she possessed, seeing as Dvina seemed to lack control in switching from one to the other. Which Edward couldn't be bothered about; he knew what it felt like to be unable to control something going on inside you?
He was successful, attractive and charming but he'd learnt that people of that age always had secrets, how odd though, to find the truth behind everything he'd once though was the truth. His father, the king, was his real father, only to have that thrown out the window, where he was told he wasn't. And that he was originally a mortal, kidnapped from Earth, and given the lungs of a almost dead warm one, simply to take the lungs, seeing as he couldn't use them. The thought behind that little story caused his blood to want to boil. How much pain that warm one was probably in, the entire time…. The thought of him having even a small chance to survive whatever it was that made him ill, seemed less than none. But Edward still had to wonder.
''You know...'' Edward said softly. Dvina brought her eyes to stare at him again, from her back turned, she waited for the rest of his words. ''When we save Barron and get out of here, we should all take a visit to Earth. See if it's the same as you remember…'' He smiled.
Dvina stood silence, nothing but a small shrug from her shoulders, as her eyes softened. Edward was sure he'd brought up something she clearly wished not to think about. Brushing the back of his head, nervously, he frowned. Coming clean for his mistakes.
''I didn't mean to, Dvina, honestly, I just thought it might've been nice. I must keep reminding myself, you have it way different than Barron and I.'' He whispered.
Everything about her was a lie.
Everything about their lives was a lie. Once big huge freaking lie cooked up with the intent to replace the son he banished. Simply ruining a whole innocent family in order to keep his guilt from destroying him, the coward deserved his desserts. As she stopped to catch her breath, she looked back, Dvina, who was now looking at him again, shifted her eyes from left to right, the surroundings covered with raven blackness, seeming to be all the same to Edward. The directions simply couldn't help him, he'd be lost in under thirty seconds. That surely could've been a record, had he not landed where Dvina was. With her faded dress and worn shoes, she knew she couldn't go on any further if she kept those uncomfortable looking shoes on. Edward was sure of himself, that was the reason she suddenly seemed distressed.
''Those tiny shoes bothering you?'' He asked her.
''Yeah…'' She replied as she began removing the right one, following slowly with the left, pairing them both together with both her fingers, as she looked up at Edward. A blank expression on her face, before she turned to look behind her. She seemed utterly sad about something, Edward was sure it was because of the shoes, she'd be giving up. They seemed important to her, but the sudden sign of mud and black dust and sand, seemed like an utter sign that the shoes needed to be taken off, or risk her getting suck in the stuff. Although just because the odd substance in front of them, didn't seem all that high, Edward was sure it was better this way. The sand surely would become hard, if bare skin walks across them. Seeing as he'd already transported himself to Demon Nation bare foot, Edward could clear himself. He wouldn't have to worry about being targeted, nor did Light, for he seemed to have started traveling bare feet long ago, seeing as how comfortable he seemed.
''See it like this, Dvina? Your paying a small price by removing your shoes now, compared to what could've happened to you, had you decided to keep them on.'' He pointed out, as he tried to comfort her, make her feel better. Although from the unbearable, and angered expression she had directed towards him, she wasn't in the mood to hear any of his advice. Once she had all her goodbyes in order, she tossed the shoes as far as she could away from her and growled. Growled under her breath, though not as quietly as she'd liked to think she was being. For everyone could see hear how frustrated she was.
"H-how long have you been standing there?" She wondered, addressing him, as minuets passed the threw of them, to her surprise, she wasn't even sure how long time had passed them, seeming embarrassed now, that it took so long for her to say goodbye to a pair of shoes. Edward couldn't find himself angry with her. It was clear she loved those shoes. And from everything he was told about Dvina's childhood, separated from her only family, it was nice for a moment to see she had something to care about. Even if they were just fashionable footwear...
He respected her sacrifice none the less.
"You did a bad thing for a good reason." He told her. Surprised to see a small smile appear on her face, Dvina turned away from him, and continued walking. Light still in the front, leading the way. Edward, at the very back. Now a little less worried now that Dvina took her rightful place at the front with Light. No more would he have to worry about her as much. It was better for him to be in the back anyways, keep your loved ones in front, where you can always see them...
