Since finding the job at the inn, things have been looking up. A year has passed, and nothing crazy has happened. That is, with my somehow horrible luck, no matter the life; until today.
You wake up to go ahead and do your usual cleaning duties downstairs. Toru is the first one to come down, always with his signature Cigar. He seemingly flashes at a superhuman speed around the inn making sure everything is in order. Maybe a superspeed ability? You tend to try and not notice, but his speedy presence alone during his sequences every day gets quite tiring.
"Sleep well, Mikado?" asks Toru in a hoarse voice.
"Could have been worse." You say, monotone.
Toru Shrugs slightly before turning back to the shelves behind the bar, making sure every single thing is in order.
You do the same, and continue mopping the floors before you hear a loud bang and a scream coming from outside the inn. A group of people appear outside the inn before you see them run off. The ground shakes every few seconds, and the glasses on the shelves behind the bar clink together and a few fall off, breaking on the floor.
Toru snaps his head to look at the glasses falling before sprinting over to stop the chaos.
"That sounded close" you say, slightly frightened, but making sure not to show it.
Toru doesn't say a word. He just tries to stop the glasses from falling, running back and forth like a maniac.
You chuckle slightly and go out of your way to look outside, before nearly turning to stone, as what you see is a colossal giant stomping through the street, a few military horses just behind it.
"Am I living in Attack on Titan? If so I REALLY REALLY WANT OUT." you think, mostly terrified.
"Protect the citizens!" says the lead soldier.
The back soldiers let out a yell.
"Oh well that seals, it, I definitely am." you mumble, sulking upon the fact that this is happening.
The giant stops in front of the inn after seeing you run back inside.
You see its arm raise and you hope for the best.
"Not Again.... I was so close too!" you think.
In the split second, you remember what your Kendo Teacher told you as a child.
"Mikado, when you run into a issue that may be a danger to your life, take advantage. Clear your mind and focus on how to protect yourself and others. Focus on it's weakness, not it's strength."
You suddenly feel a small fire inside of you, and your eyes turn an ever so slight red. You jump away from the strikes trajectory, hitting a few tables in the process, nearly falling flat on your face.
"What...." you say, staring at your hands in wonderance of what that was.
The giant looks to have missed. You know you now have to take advantage. You look at your hands once more, and you feel a tingling sensation throughout them, almost a soft burn. Your odd instinct is to point one of them at the giant, and an unconcentrated shower of fire explodes out of your hands, hurting you at first, but the pain recedes soon after.
The fire staggers the giant for a moment, and you at least somewhat realize what you just did. You do a few random tricks with your hands just to see what happens and all you can let out is a slight flame.
The giant audibly chuckles as he readies another strike. You try to dodge but end up getting hit, and fly backwards into the wall at a high speed. The wood from the strike flies at you after the strike, before a piece of it hits you in the head, knocking you out.
You hear a large amount of yelling from the soldiers outside as your eyes open and close. You close your eyes for what seems like forever before hearing a woman's voice next to you.
"Wake up!"
You ignore it.
"I said, Wake Up!"
You feel a slight pain in your shoulder before opening your eyes to see a figure kneeling to your side. You're still inside the inn, and soldiers are still fighting the giant.
"Who....are you?"
"Don't worry about that right now. Get up and take a sword."
"I really....don't want to..."
"But you have to."
You give in after a quick groan and stumble heavily up on to your feet. There's a steel sword leaning against the staircase that you use to gain your balance. It's been there inside the inn just in the case that something would happen. You feel a power run through you and it channels into the blade. The sword has turned a deep red and there's a slight fiery aura to it now.
"Ha...cool." you mumble.
You see the figure jest for a moment. You shrug it off and run outside. You see the giant. Knowing that that strike nearly killed you is beginning to fill you with a rage. You can feel your eyes burn as your mind takes control.
"I'm not going to let this happen again. Once is more than enough." You say, anger in your tone.
You swing your blade at the giant, letting out a wave of concentrated fire, injuring it.
The giant lets out a scream before swiping at you, hitting you and sending you flying into a nearby wall. You feel like you have almost...superhuman reflexes, slamming your legs into the wall, using the force to fly you back towards it.
You pull back your sword and a red aura surrounds you before all you can see is fire. Almost like a meteor.
You swing, setting off an explosive strike, sending the giant back about 20 feet, crashing into few nearby buildings across the road. It gets back up after a few seconds before throwing its club at you. You notice it flying at you just in time.
You use your reflexes to jump on it in mid air, jumping off of it before pulling your sword above your head. You send it down, letting out a massive explosion of fire on impact, Injuring the giant further.
The towering monster stands in front of you with a stumble, before it begins to fall.
You stand there for a moment, before turning, and flashing a smile.
"Hey, that was pretty cool." you say, smiling.
"Kid, watch out!" says someone.
You turn around to see the giant falling straight towards you.
"Oh..oh no."
You try to make to move to get out of the way, but can't in time.
Suddenly, you hear a whooshing noise to your left. Toru. He does have superspeed...
You fall unconscious after Toru gets you out of the way, hearing a few voices just beforehand.
"Not again..."
