Chapter 2 - Rebirth

My name is Mikado Haikaido. I was an Artist for an Anime Studio before I reached my death after being hit by a truck.

You wake up, as your eyes slowly open, blinking to allow the blurriness of your vision to leave.

You're in a small field. The grass is a deep shade of green, the sun is horribly bright and borderline blinds you, before you struggle to stand on your feet.

When you finally do stand up, you see birds flying through the sky. However they seem bigger than you remember. You blink your eyes, and make sure you're seeing everything around you correctly. You stretch your fingers, and most of your body. You seem to be like any other normal person, at least you think. You have motor control, you and hear, see, and feel like you remember. Then you realize.

"Where the hell am I? Am I alive?" You think in a screaming manner.

You see trees surrounding the field. This place doesn't look like the Japan as you once knew. You look at yourself. You have ragged and torn clothes on, like you escaped from something, or somewhere.

You feel your face. It's not as rough nor grizzly as you remember, it's smooth and clean, with some hints of acne and dirt, obviously due to the fact you were just face down in it. Your eyes don't feel as tired, and your hair is shorter than you remember.

"Wait.....AM I A TEENAGER?????" You Yell.

"There's no way I could have died, ended up in the middle of nowhere, and became younger all at the same time....right?" You think.

"Oh well that Is how reincarnation works, no?" you think, pondering on your previous statement.

You eventually stand up, still wondering what even just happened.

You have no idea of what in the world is happening, you have no clue what to do, and the only thing you can think of doing is to find a trail or path to put you in a right direction, but the only problem is you don't even know if there's any sort of civilization around you anyway, just lots of mountains and trees along the horizon. Snow covers the peaks of the mountains in the far distance.

You could swear you saw something flying about the peaks of said mountains when you are abruptly interrupted from your train of thought.

"Lost, I see?" says a voice coming from next to you.

"Huh?" you mumble, as you look around, trying to find the voice you just heard, with no luck.

"Mikado, welcome to Rokado. Land of Adventurers, with a bias towards Mages!" says the voice.

"Rokado, Mages.....was I seriously reborn?" you ask.

"That you were Mikado-san! You'll learn of your power eventually, but for now head Northeast! You'll find your way to that power in a certain large and totally not overly blindingly bright white city in that direction." says the voice.

"Wait....BIAS?!" You remark.

"Ok you'll quite literally see the city past those trees." says the voice, annoyed.

You ask a few more questions, but the voice stops replying.

"On my own again I guess." You think, before sighing.

"Northeast. wait. How am I supposed to find that out? I don't have a compass. At least I don't think so." You think to yourself.

You start walking, and find a trail. One of the directional signs you come across says:

North: The City of Snow

Northeast: Cestia City

West: Tai Village

East: Jean River

South: Battlegrounds of Geher

"Well, I THINK I'm going the right way now. I hope." You Mutter.

You look past the trees as the voice said, and you can see the city.

"That voice wasnt kidding. Talk about plain sight..." you think.

As you walk down the trail, people on horseback, by carriage, or even by flying, pass by you, glancing at you for a moment, then looking away. It's probably because you look like an escapee with the clothes you have on currently.

Your first order of business once you reach this city is to hopefully get normal clothes, truly figure out who you are currently, and if you really do have some sort of power in this new world of mages, swordsman, war, and everything else you could think a world like this would have.

As you walk, you begin to see a watchtower in the distance, high above huge white and gold engraved city walls, at least 125 feet tall. Quite an impressive feat of architecture.

"That must be it. At least part of it." You say.

"I wonder how I can use this new experience to my advantage..." you think.

You walk up to the gate, and see two heavily armored guards. Behind the gate looks like a massive city with long roads, well built buildings, and thousands of people.

"Uhhh..Hello, My name is Mikado." You say, in a slightly nervous voice.

The guards give you a suspicious look.

Your face crumples nervously for a moment.
