Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - Wake up call (updated)

Fenyang's Pov

It's been a few week since I've last seen Zafeera. Seems like she disappeared after being done picking with my mind. I replay that evening a lot when my head hits the still pillow and insomnia strikes. But I have not changed my opinion of her. These days without her have also taught me how quickly I've grown dependent of her company. Without her I feel like I'm running from one duty to another, juggling between the Kingdom's responsabilities and the training sessions, but when she shows up I know it's going to be a surprising adventure. I got from a being alone to having someone to hang out with and as much as I might have not longed for someone to spend time with, now that I've tasted friendship I don't want to go back.

I'm patrolling around the Kingdom's grounds, when an arrow hurries towards me.

"Master, Master!" he halts before me, heaving deep sighs with he's back bent forward and his hands on his knees, "The-there's be-been another attack... I... Me and the arrows a-are calling in troupes..."

I nod and gesture him to do as he siad while I rush back into the Kingdom to put on my armoury. We have had a lot of attacks recently, some more threatening than others. The stable point of calm we had reached is now being taken over by war again.

"I'm beginning to get sick of these barbaric nations", I hiss under my breath as I clock my sword in its sheath. A knock is heard by the door and a familiar face makes it's way forward.

"We are all ready Master."

Seconds after it's as though hell broke loose. Fire everywhere and some buildings damaged. I try to brandish my weapon with skill as I step forward on the battle grouds leading the troups marching behind me.

A group of Giants wearing nothing but teared clothes stump their way forward roaring to try and assert dominance.

"We promise to be civil, just retreat and we won't be as aggressive", speaks one of them. He's tall with long brown hair plated in braids and beard, his whole body looks as though covered in ash. Strangely enough he seems like the most pacific out of them, with a slightly less menacing face and looser grit about his teeth compared to his counterparts.

"Fire!", exclaims an Arrows officially declaring the war to commence.

I see the giants being tortured down one by one. I run behind the back of one launching myself forward with both my hands on the sword raised up and swing down as I landed on the back of one. Exposing his now unseamed back to the surrounding elements.

"Ahhh", he screams in pain, "You little-" he turns around dragging his arm up trying to catch me to throw me away far from him to not cause him any more damage. I pick up my pace and begin running to avoid being caught.

"Ahhhhh", my tiny legs swing aimlessly in mid air, nothing campared to his gigantic stature. As much as I tried escaping he still managed to pick me up and flick me away. Luckily I land on a few bushes. It still hurts but the impact would have been a lot worse if I had hit the concrete. I black out for a little and when my eyes are opened again, I wake up to the arrows chanting "Victory" with tears.

I gather myself together and join them in chanting, once again we have defeated the enemy. But I'm unsure for how long we are going to keep this up. We have hit a close call this time and last time it was a really rough encounter.

We gather back into Palace and as I head down to Main Hall I stumble across Zaffera and Klaus in the storage room.

"Hey Zaffera! I haven't seen you seen you in a few weeks." I wave reducing our distance a minimum with the last steps.

She approaches me nervously with a smile, "Yeah, I've had duties to take care of back home. But I'm here now...Klaus was just filling me on the battle you just had and I hear someone demonstrated great skill with a particular giant", her smile widening on the last part.

I scratch the back of my head in embarrassment and simply nod.

"We are going to have a banquet to celebrate victory, care to join Zaffera?", proposes Klaus.

"Oh that sounds great... I will be right back i just...just need to let my guardians know I will be gone for a while". She excuses herself leaving me and Klaus alone in the storage room.

"What were you guys doing here?" I ask speaking my mind curioused by the odd choice of place to engage in a conversation in.

"Master, I have some suspicions on Zaffera, I know you won't like this, but I found her searching in here and I find that quite suspicious. She also has a story she has kept away secret and only hinted at, like her incredible training skills and her sudden appearance. I will be keeping a close eye on her."

"Did you ask her why she was here? The Palace is quite big and it's easy to get lost unless well acquainted with the place." I say shaking my head repeatedly unable to believe Zaffera could be as suspicious as Klaus is making her out to be. She definitely has secrets but my nights of pondering have only lead me to believe that she means no harm.

"Yes, she said that she had lot her ring in here while looking for us."

"Then...you have your answer, nothing to add." I cut dryly.

"But Mast-"

"Enough Klaus!" I clench my fists in vivid anger. My tone is raised which makes Klaus drop his head in defeat and walk away discouraged. I feel like I might have been too harsh with him but hopefully he will drop the subject as it will lead him nowhere.

I make my way out myself and begin searching for Zaffera. I have showed her around a little the first time she came to Palace for training. Given that she still seems to have a rough idea of how to get around she she must have a really good memory.

I find her moments later at the entrance. She turns around and welcomes me with a warm smile.

"I'm glad Klaus invited me to join you all in celebrations. I hope it means he likes me too." she says looking up at me. I look away nervously recalling the conversation I've just had inside.

"They will be setting up for a little longer now, but we don't have to stay...", I change the subject, "We could go somewhere in the mean time and Klaus will warn me when it's ready."

She grabs my arm and pulls me with her to follow her.

"I'm going to show you something", she says with a wink.
