Zaffera's Pov
*A few weeks prior*
The wind dances on my skin as I lay on the grass looking up at the quietened sky. Long prices of grass caressing my face as they oppone no resistance to the breeze.
"Nobody knows me, not even you..." I speak dryly and soon after question my very own words, quietly gulping down saliva. I'm not getting attached I can't be. I feel a stinging pain on my chest as I think about what my mission truly is. I have not known Fenyang for long but I've seen enough to question my dirty work in a fleeting thought as we look at wonders of nature.
This is my safe place. I've run away from my busy Kingdom to get here on multiple occasions as the Enchanted Garden sits on the boarders of both Kingdoms . I need to take a break from this mission.
The following weeks I spend them back at Palace studying more about my future duties as Queen as an incentive to get me to focus back on the mission more and less on the morality that this encompasses.
"What's this?" says Ginn with a slight frown picking up a dense black leather book from the pile I'm studying from. I shake my head head trying to not listen to his distractions. He's such an attention seeker.
"Did you know that Arrows' Palace has a room of secrets in its dungeons... Apparently whoever entered has never made it out alive" he says looking down at the book while he takes a seat next to me, "sounds like you could really find something here."
Intreagued, I look at the page he's talking about only to realise one thing, "The door it's just a myth though, it says it right here."
"Yes dummy, but you know that with myths there's always a little layer of truth in all of them, besides it's time you go back undercover. I've not had a chance to miss you since you've been around so much again," he says with a smirk gently tapping the top of my head. I smile bacm at him tired from the great amount of studying. I stand up and clear the books away except one and leave that in my room.
"Thank you for the invitation Ginn, but I don't need you to tell me what to do" I softly flick the top of his shoulder with my hand to jokingly end the exchange.
"I know." he says before standing up himself engulfing me in a tight hug.
That night I'm staring at the ceiling unable to sleep. I reach at the bottom of my bed with my arm and grab the book from earlier. I read more about the door and there's really little information on it. I heave disappointed thinking I won't be able to enter it alone. I will need to warn Fenyang if I don't want to be caught lurking around and possibily face tragic consequences.
I'm going to head to Palace tomorrow.
There's a feeling of deja vu as I'm sat on the ship hovering over the Kingdom and entering the next. Looking down I see buildings in ashes and battle weapons. Looks like a battle just ended here. I decide that this time of commotion is the best time to go looking for the door. As it could be just a myth I should check if it exists to begin with and only warn Fenyang if I have positive news. Besides I shouldn't be seen.
Unfortunately I make a wrong turn and end up in the storage room but worse yet it's Klaus finding me here. I quickly pretend to be searching for something to have an excuse in case he questions me as I notice him before he sees me.
"Hello Klaus" I wave at him with a smile pretending to be putting my ring back on.
"Zaffera, You've not been around for sometime. What brings you here?"
"I lost my ring here as I was searching for you guys. Looks like you guys are returning from battle." My voice sounds higher than it should due to lack of rehearsing but he doesn't notice.
"Yes. Master showed great skill with the giants that attacked us and all together we brought the Kingdom to victory."
As I try to congratulate I see Fenyang walk towards us and after a bit of back and forth I excuse myself and head out the front door to get some hair. But I'm quickly found just minutes later. I disguise the fact that in worried of Klaus possibly realising my true intentions holding a smile as he walk towards me.
"I'm glad Klaus invited me to join you guys in celebrations. I hope it means he likes me too." I say looking up at him. I can tell he's feeling nervous as he looks away which makes me think that a little more might have happened in my absence.
"They will be setting up for a little longer now, but we don't have to stay...", he says changing the subject, "We could go somewhere in the mean time and Klaus will warn me when it's ready."
This is my opportunity. In excitement I take him to the door. The very same door that has been on my mind since I heard of it. The book said that it's all the way down to the dungeons. I find my way pulling his arm a long way down the staircases but eventually we reach a door. There's a sign on it which was missing from the picture but as far as I can tell from the context of the picture it looks like it's the right door.
I'm ready to turn the knob in trepidation but at the worst time I hear a horn playing.
"Another time, we have to head back now."
I drag my feet back upstairs but I can't shake the thought of the door out of my head. The last thing I expected is for him to question my wareabouts while we are eating at the table. I respond honestly, and it seems like the honesty was the right choice as he nods in understanding.
After we are done with celebrations I'm eager to go back to the door but due to our tired bodies we decide to retreat to Fenyang's room.
"I'm so tired", I yawn laying down on his bed which he unfortunately reads as reason to no visit the door which makes me sit up as though I just felt an shock. I shake mt hesd repeatedly smiling to convincing to ge back. Although I realise that this is quite an infantile response I need to appease my mind.
He suggests to go creature hunting, something I've not heard of before but it's seems rather interesting so I agree. It quickly seems like the wrong choice as I didn't expect this to lead onto a deeper conversation. He opens up about his guardians dying in Battle and I can't help but feel slightly guilty as I hear that it was of my Kingdom's fault. Unable to answer appropriately I change the subject instead as noticing a bug very similar to the one on one of the book pages.
"I don't need your pity..." he starts saying. I apologise as I didn't mean to be insensitive.
"Let's check the door out now." Fenyang grabs my hand abd pulls me with him and we quicly arrive the dungeons.
"Ready? Let's go in then."
