Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Door of Secrets

Fenyang's Pov

"A pile of books must have fallen in front of the door hence why it shut back at us and it looks like nobody has entered in so long that a lot of dust has formed..." she says dusting off some books and picking then up to put them back.

"This must have been a library or something... I wonder why it stopped being in use and how it got to be what you knew it to be. The sign and the myths are pretty worrying don't you think." Walzing around the the tight room I notice some lines engraved on the walls. I feel them with my hands and notice that it extends across the wall facing the door we entered. "Pass me the torch, there's something written here."

The torch shines quite a bright light on the dimly lit room. There's only a small ray of light shining from the out outside here which hardly does anything really in terms of making anything visible. Even the sign on door was easier to read earlier as the broad daylight made it a little easier as more light could enter. The writings are mostly in black with some slightly larger in red.

"Woah!" she exclaims noticing the writings herself, dropping her lost cause at making some order. "It alsmot looks like art, like... Iike a motif on the wall. Must be an ancient language or something."

I nod and strart tapping the walls which Zaffera looks at confused to then break out in a sonorous laughter. "Are you seriously trying to find a secret passage here?", she continues giggling until it's stopped by a shake on the ground.

"Wait do that again."

I tap on the same spot again but in vain as the shake felt before isn't heard again, "must have just been an earthquake" I conclude.

I give up on trying to find a secret passage and start searching for books that may have a similar motif to the one on the wall. Perhaps something needs to be encoded first. As though reading my mind, Zaffera does the same but begin on the side opposite to mine. Time goes by and when I really feel like calling it a night Zaffera screams 'Look' showing me a book about old writings.

"Maybe the language can be found here. Wait, this could be our first proper adventure... We'll propably need to ask around about this, there must be someone that knows more than us. Klaus would be a good start." she says excited, I can tell she's really close from breaking into a dance of joy which would be pretty difficult in the tight room.

I shake my head," not Klaus, he's not in the right mindset to be able to help us at the moment," I speak refrencing the conversation from earlier today. She doesn't ask further but instead invites me to to keep on searching for more books just in case.

That night I'm able to sleep like a baby exhausted by what happened today. It was like one adventure after the other. The wounds I made in the battle didn't even receive the proper medication they needed as I was distracted by Zaffera. I'm not mad though, in fact I'm quite happy. I'm hoping whatever we have discovered today is nothing dangerous. I know how those things end.

"We need to find a way to communicate, now more than ever we need to be able to reach out to each other." I tell Zaffera the next day when I see her in the Enchanted Garden. It seems as though this has become our meet up spot and I'm not mad about it.

She agrees."You can write to me using a telegram and I will do the same. This is the address code you will be sending it to."

I take the piece of paper she lends me. I don't recognise this place but I assume it's because it is outside the Kingdom grounds. I fold it up and shove it in my pocket making a mental note to put it somewhere safe when I'm back to Palace.

"Now that this is sorted, about the door... I brought the book I found the myth in to begin with." She says handing over a thick book with a black leather back. "It was at home, I found it while I was helping out whilst I was gone."

Flick through it and discover that this book is a collection of legends and myths. When I find the page about the door I frown at how little information it's contained in it. It can't be just an old library people have made stories about there must be more to it. At the bottom of the left page there's a fine writing.

"Did you notice this" i point at it.

She shakes her head.

"It says: The door congeales secrets one must never find out of or the war between Kingdoms will only be aggravated, for whoever reaches the end will be granted one wish before..."

"Before what?" she panickes now looking at the fine print herself.

"It's smudged off, it doesn't say."

"Woah," she heaves leaning back. "Are we sure about doing this? Seems like we are dealing with things much greater than us."

I nod. I see her point completely but also feel like we should still go ahead. If we were able to reach the end we would be granted a wish, I could wish for my guardians to be back. I'm not ready to be King and their memory it's beggining to fade as time passes. There's little paintings of them at Palace and their manuscripts are still locked away from me as I've not reached the age of maturity yet. I understand I'm being selfish in my thinking but it's on behalf of the Kingdom's good too. The kingdom has lost their Royals, and it needs them back.

"I think we should keep going."
