"Oblivion? I have never heard of that name." He was startled at hearing that name.
"Then you don't know the whole story yet. But that is one of the biggest reasons for you not to go there. And these anchors you speak of the sword must be one of them right?"
He nodded. Linda moved to the kitchen and returned with three cups of steaming hot tea. Alex walked in just in time and fully changed to a pink t-shirt and cargo shorts—she noticed the serious shade that was between Dr. Lin and Jack meaning they must have been in a serious conversation.
She grabbed her cup of tea and sat next to her brother who gave her a detailed explanation of what was going on when they were done. Linda placed down her cup and continued to explain, "When the spiders arrived, we were forced to live in the earth like moles as a survival strategy but before that, we already had plans to have underground cities. When we were building this specific city about two years ago, we uncovered what looked like an ancient entrance with carvings we couldn't translate. We were curious, so we used our technology to crack the language which was also the biggest mistake of our lives because we activated it and learned that it was a pathway to multiple realities." She paused and looked down facing the floor with guilt and sorrow in her eyes.
"It was the beginning of a standard series of misery. When we passed through the entrance, we found ourselves split into different realities, I was sent to the dark side of the multiverse where I had to survive from. This reality was called Uranus, filled with monsters ten times the size of a normal human. I lasted four days without food or water, but when I was on the verge of death, he came up to me—"
Alex immediately noticed that this woman might be talking about the voice that they had heard in Genevieve's mind telling her to kill them, "Who came up to you."
"Oblivion—" she replied. Alex felt terrified just hearing the name all she had heard was his voice but his desire to kill them meant he knew more about them than they did about him.
"Excuse us," she requested for a moment with her brother and pulled him off the sofa dragging him to the corridor that led to the bathroom. He could already sense the tension that was in her mind.
"What... what's wrong?" He was anxious.
"The voice! Did you hear the voice that ordered Genevieve to kill us?"
"Yes, why… I thought it was a manifestation of her consciousness to keep us out," he said.
"I am starting to think there are bigger forces at play." She whispered, Jack stared up trying to think about what she had just mentioned.
"Well, if there are any we should find out by asking doctor Lin. I think she knows where the anchors are and maybe the route to Teccar." He suggested and they both agreed.
They slowly returned to the room. Where Linda was, still waiting for them,
They took their seats.
What do you know about the anchors? Alex jumped to the point. Linda stared at the two as they both waited for her to answer, "They are instruments believed to be the sources of chaos' power. They are protected by rogue energy that makes animals stronger with rage." This all sounded familiar to the two remembering the creatures they fought before all this,
"Wait! You mean red energy." Jack interrupted,
"Yes, during my days there I was also taken over by it till I was far enough to resist its power." She made it clear to him
Jack lost his trace of thought for a bit trying to put the pieces together before he glimpsed at Alex to show her that he had an idea of what this all meant. He then waved his hands and created the map of the multiverse their father and handed them, "Dr. Lin, I need you to show me where you found that energy."
Linda stared at the beautiful display of magic. The golden tiny pallets that blinked on and off, the map was covering the entire room and would move every time Jack would wave his hand, but she noticed something was off when she saw that the map lacked the other side of the multiverse, "This map is old." she said,
How? Why? Jack was surprised by her comment
"Teccar, the dark side where are they? She looked around, but saw nothing,
"Do you mean Teccar isn't on the map? Alex lunged from the sofa to see what Dr. Lin was talking about.
She pointed at the very end where the map didn't continue, "Your map ends here. I guess the lords of chaos didn't care about that side of the multiverse, but you need to know that according to the texts of the ancients the god oblivion was locked in a place called Teccar the home and world of the elves." She said
"How do we get there? Alex asked with so much confidence in her voice
"Girl that place is dangerous I can't let children just walk in."." Linda denied her request.
"You've seen what we can do, we can take care of ourselves right Jack."
Jack didn't say anything.
"Right, Jack!" she repeated herself but he just frowned and looked directly at her.
'We can't make such rational decisions like this without the others. Scarlet and Argus need to have a say in this before we decide." He was right, Alex wanted to choose for the rest of the team. Something Jack couldn't accept her moves forward with.
"Fine." there was anger in her voice. She stared at him, then stormed out of the room, leaving only Jack and Linda.
"Will she be okay?"Linda looked concerned by Alex's dramatic exit.
"She will," he said, "now do you mind showing me your map."
"Sure... right this way"
