Chereads / CHAOS AWAKENING / Chapter 36 - Professor Stuart

Chapter 36 - Professor Stuart

She jumped off the bed and searched for her real clothes.

Now she remembered they didn't reach Trantor as directed, they had instead made it to Olympia and got trapped in a war with spiders alien things. She remembered escaping with doctor Lin and a soldier, but after that her mind was blank. Maybe there was an accident and that's why she was in a hospital.

Oh no! Argus, she had promised to save Argus' life when they made it to the city, another reason for her to leave this place. She picked out her big black jumper and shorts from the closet nearby, took off the hospital gown then changed.

She slowly opened her room door and peeped outside to see what was going on, she noticed that it was a very normal hospital and everyone seemed to be minding their own business. So she sneaked out of her room and teleported out.

The car slowed down after seeing the traffic lights. Inside was Professor Stuart Fredrick a friend and ex-colleague of professor Hayward before he left Oxford to go and be the headmaster at Bolton. Stuart was a loner maybe that's why they were so close before, he had just received news that Hayward had been found dead and was assumed to have been slaughtered by magic-armed terrorists. But he knew it was a lie there was something more behind all this. He knew that Hayward was researching reality-warping magic to restore the family he had murdered during the experiment he weirdly survived eight years ago.

He continued to drive till he stopped next to a building. He stepped out of the car holding his briefcase for work and locked it, then ran through the building's entrance and climbed the stairs, stopping on the fifth floor. There were apartment doors, and he walked to his room.

He stepped in and switched on the lights,

"About time." Michelle welcomed him. Stuart looked at her as he removed off coat and hang it on the rack.

"You're not supposed to be here. Michelle Terror...I mean your highness." he said as he walked to the kitchen. He picked up a glass and poured some wine, "I am here to ask you if you might have known where Hay---"

"Don't say his name you witch." he raised his voice. Michelle moved closer to him and made a flame in her hand,

"Don't call me that." she warned him but he wasn't moved by her threats.

"Then don't say his name." he was so clear with what he was saying, "I know you're here to ask me if I know where he placed the magical book he captured from the boy. But I have no idea where it is."

"The problem is I can't take that as an answer." She formed a fireball and pointed it at him. "Now I hope you can be a bit more cooperative."

Michelle had been here for a month now. She was amazed that most of the people in this world had access to magic. Talon had given her knowledge of this world and how there were lords of order, beings similar to her and were believed to be gods in this world. She had been instructed to avoid ever encountering one because that would draw too much attention. In this world, she was more powerful than she was because of the lanes that heightened her magical link. Talon had given her the task of looking for a spellbook. He said that she would know which one it was because her powers and chaos magic had something in common she didn't know which that was but she believed him because her father was a chaos lord maybe that's what he meant. She was given a lead on where the book might be and her source had told her that professor Stuart Fredrick had someone aware of her since he was a member of Talon's army called the creed. She had flown to London where he was and here they were.

She couldn't tell if he was sweating from the heat from her fire powers or fear,

"I swear, I haven't talked to him ever since he left London." he started to shake trying to hold in the look of fear.

"If that's what you saying then am so sorry." she had to kill him so that he doesn't tell anyone about this. She didn't have the heart for killing and it disgusted her, but sometimes it was the only option….

The flame in her hand expanded as she stared at the professor mercilessly.

Stuart's blue eyes widened when he saw the fire grow. Was she going to kill him? She couldn't he was a member of the creed. He showed his palm, there was a symbol of a snake swallowing its tail.

"A creed isn't allowed to kill another creed." He said,

"Who said am a creed." She now sounded like a whole different person, her voice echoed like they were two different people. The other sounded like a man.

"Please…don't….kill….me." he was now scared by what she was becoming.

She suddenly felt something tie on her right foot that pulled her out of the apartment and into the hallway, swinging her like a piece of paper and slamming her into the ceiling, wall, and floor many times before it let go.

She coughed blood.

What was that? She was on the floor, lying helplessly as she waited for her broken leg to heal. Someone passed by her. He was dressed in a green suit like those vigilantes wear in the comics with a hood covering his head a mask for his face. He walked past her heading towards Fredrick's apartment.

"You!" She stood up once she healed her leg, "how dare you surprise me like that."

She unleashed a wave of flames that the masked person just absorbed in like it was nothing. Michelle didn't seem surprised, she expected something like this from a world with people with magical powers who aren't even Elven.

The masked person disappeared and almost kicked her shoulder, but she blocked with her hand, creating a huge deal of force and sound. She was well trained in martial arts so she knew her way around hand-to-hand combat. He pulled back his foot and Michelle formed a flaming sword, swinging it at fast speeds a normal person couldn't dodge. He stopped her hand without holding it and forced it to let go of the sword that disappeared instantly. Michelle had heard of this magic, it gave its wielder the power to move things with the mind, meaning he was a bigger threat than she anticipated.
