Chereads / THE FATE OF A FEMALE ALPHA / Chapter 11 - FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

Chapter 11 - FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

AUTHOR

When Nathan got to the pack, he saw Alpha Rogers worriedly pacing with other members of the pack, including the witch Lana.

Nathan could not decipher those in support or those against the Alpha, but he knew fully well Lana was the greatest enemy in Blood Rose pack.

Alpha Rogers, upon seeing Nathan walking towards him all weak and exhausted, ran to his rescue.

"Nathan, what happened to you, where is Raymond?

Nathan teared up at the Alpha's show of concern for his Father. He watched everyone around him, his mom whose eye's have become bloodshot from tears, his mate Tania, who looked so devastated and Maya, he could not believe he would be the one to bring about doom upon his people.

His eyes darted to witch Lana, who was staring at him dangerously.

"That Witch!, I should have known she gave a fake prophecy, I always felt something ominous about her, who would have thought she was the true enemy to Blood Rose pack".

Nathan kept silent for a long time, and

Alpha Rogers was getting impatient.

"Speak!, Nathan, where is your Father!?".

"He…he… Nathan sobbed continuously…

He's been captured by the werewolf hunters. I was only able to escape because he protected me and strictly told me to bring you the message, Please save him Alpha, they used wolfs bane on him, and he's weak and helpless now."

Everyone panicked upon hearing about wolfs bane, never had they come across werewolf hunters who were so daring as to kidnap the Beta of the strongest pack in the southern province.

"Are you really sure they were werewolf hunters?".

Alpha Rogers asked carefully, confused as to why Werewolf hunters would attack his pack. He never made trouble with the humans in any way, so why would they attack his pack and going as far as capturing his beta?

Alpha Rogers, gathered some ferocious looking war wolves and pack warriors with him together Nathan who volunteered in his weak state to go with them despite being told to stay in the pack.

Luna Eva also wanted to go with the Alpha, but he asked her to keep watch over their pack. He left some strong pack warriors and war wolves behind to guard the pack until they came back with the beta.

They gathered the weak women and their children into a safe haven.

Maya volunteered to stand guard over them together with Mark and Ryan. Lana and some elders were gathered in the pack's meeting place, pretending to hold a serious meeting.

Meanwhile, Luna Eva never had the chance in attending the meeting as she was busy giving out orders to pack warriors to safeguard the pack.

Lucas stood guard alongside Maya.

Everyone in Blood Rose pack stood on high alert awaiting their Alpha who went on a rescue mission.

MAYA

This never happened in the pack before, where everyone feared the unknown.

What could those wolf hunters be after? Even the Luna is looking very nervous and worried.

Tania looked so sad and defeated, she sat down in a lonely corner, seemingly lost in thoughts.

I can't imagine how sad she must be feeling now, it must be very difficult trying to stay calm when your mate is out there in the face of danger.

I walked up to her, not minding the fact that she might ignore me.

"Hey, are you okay?

"Do I look like I am?"

Yea right, at least I expected that, I know wanting to be close to her will be a bad idea, but I just wanted to cheer her up, tell her everything will be okay, at least I hope so.

"Do not worry too much about Nathan, he will be okay. The Alpha will make sure of it. We should keep hope alive."

Tania gave out a sarcastic chuckle like I said something hilarious.

"Did I say anything funny?

"Yes, you are very funny. You must be either dumb or stupid.

You think what happened is that simple?, this has never happened in our pack before."

"Those werewolf hunters are humans, but they have weapons that can eradicate the whole of the werewolf race. They kidnapped our beta, means they are challenging us to a war, Maya. That's what is about to happen."

"Didn't you hear when Nathan said they used wolves bane on him and his Dad, else could they kidnap a werewolf as strong as beta Raymond?".

No, this can't be true, Tania is just over thinking things. I looked to the direction of Mom, who was still pacing about worriedly. If Tania is right, then it means we are not safe, and we might be attacked any moment.

Wait…what if my Dad was their target?, no, no that can't be right? If it was true, then it means Nathan was leading my Dad into a trap because he knows how vicious those werewolf hunters are.

What am I thinking now, Nathan won't do such a thing, he won't betray his pack and Alpha. What if….arrrrrgh... what am I even thinking.

Lucas, on the other hand, was busy having a stupid conversation with Ryan, it's so disappointing to seeing the son of the Alpha l laughing heartily when his pack was at the verge of being attacked.

I beg of you moon goddess if you can hear me, please let our Alpha, Nathan and all the rescue teams including beta Raymond be back safely.

It was weird seeing Witch Lana having a meeting with the elders in the pack without the presence of their Luna, and the Luna does not seem to worry about the meeting going on without her.

She was too busy giving out instructions to pack warriors. I really wish I could eavesdrop on their conversation without being noticed, but that was completely impossible.

I decided to go ask my mom why there was a meeting without her.

"Mom, you should get some rest now, you look very exhausted. Let the pack warriors will be on guard and I will also be here to keep watch."

"By the way, Mom, why is there a meeting without you?"

"Maya?, come with me". My mom said in a serious tone she has never used on me before.

I followed behind her as she took us to a quiet area that was out of ear shot.

"Listen to Maya, I don't feel good about what's happening, I can't reach your Dad through the mind link, my instinct tells me something might bad is going on outside the pack."

"I will be living with some pack warriors to the pack's boundary searching for your Dad, and if I still cannot reach him, then it means your dad's in trouble and I will have to leave the pack in search of him."

"Maya, You are my eldest child and if anything was to happen to me or your Dad, you will have to lead Blood Rose pack as its Alpha, the pack will be in your care Maya, the goddess will protect you."

"No… Mom doesn't say that, you are scaring me, what's actually going on, are we at war? Please don't leave, I can't lead the pack Mom, everyone hates me you know."

I sobbed knowing Tania was right because I've never seen my Mom this serious. I can't lose them now, not ever… I'm still too young to head a pack that hates my guts.

"Don't be afraid. You are stronger than you think, and you have more responsibility on your shoulder, it's not just about Blood Rose pack. In due time you will get to know."

"And Maya, never tell anyone what I just told you and be on the lookout for Lana, I don't trust her anymore, the worse enemy we are yet to face is the one among us."

My Mom left me mortified and helpless, I feel my life is about to change for the worse.

Back at the pack, my mom left with some pack warriors. I could not help observing every pack member, including the pack warriors and gamma Gerald who happens to be Ryan's dad.

Gerald though is a faithful member of our pack because he's always doing what he knows was best for the pack even though he never liked me.

What if it was Nathan and his dad were the enemy?, no, no, no, I can't think so badly of them. Nathan is still my friend, even though we weren't that close anymore after he found his mate. He can't be the enemy but I'm sure Lana might be because she was the root of my problems in the pack, she gave that prophecy which made everyone in my pack feel disgusted about me.

I tried keeping myself composed, I wish I could tell Lucas and Ryan to keep shut!, it was beginning to get on my nerves seeing them, specially Lucas feeling the least concerned about what's going on around the Pack. I wonder if this was how he was to lead the pack if he were to be given the opportunity.
