Chapter 2 - How could I find a myth

The next morning I woke up in my bed. I quickly peered around the room, before sighing in relief that I was alone. Could it have all been a dream? The sharpest of pains struck the back of my head and answered my question. It had not been all in my head. I gently felt the back of my head. There was a bump the size of a rose bud. I'd been hit pretty hard. I brought my hand around to my face to see if I was bleeding and just as I feared, I was. The golden blood slowly dripped from my fingertips to the palm of my hand. Whomever that person was, they must not have known I was a god when they attacked me. I don't understand how any of what happened last night could be real, but i've got blood as proof. It would take a while to heal, but it was nothing compared to what the other gods have been through. I have to admit this is nowhere near the worst pain i've felt, but even so, nothing that's ever happened to me could come close to the pain everyone else has had to endure. I slowly turned my body and pushed my legs off the bed. I have to go to work or i'll get in trouble. I was idiotic enough to work closely to Poseidon. He seems so serious on paper, but when you get to meet him you learn a few things. He wears a big bright smile, but underneath that is a thick coat of fear. He carries heavy trauma on his shoulders, but he covers it up in front of people he deems, "too easily saddened" so I guess I don't fit that category. He was right though. I feel bad for him, but it's not my burden to bear, so why should I feel sad? Thinking about it just annoys me. I hurried into clean clothing and lightly bandaged my wound so that it wouldn't draw any attention. I avoided looking into the mirror as I always did on my way out of the door. I was running a bit late but I was sure I could make it if I flew there. I swiftly lifted into the air and rose high above. It was a bit cold outside, but I thought nothing of it. I flew past rooftops and came to an abrupt stop when I noticed ice forming on windows. How could that be? It's the beginning of summer. The sun gods should be prancing about and shining high above right now, but the sun was hidden away behind clouds. Could I have done this in my sleep? No, there's no way I could do that. I have to much control over my power to have done this. Fear and utter shock struck when realization set in. I've been asleep for longer than a night and I don't know for how long exactly. My mind raced with terror, but the most scariest thought burrowed into my brain. If the stranger got me, then did that mean they also got Mateo? And if not then he's somewhere waiting for me to find him. That just begs the question: How do you find someone that no one knows existed?
