Chapter 5 - Taken Aback

"Do you remember the human war over two hundred years ago? How Ares joined the side that he wanted to win. He'd taken a liking to a child belonging to one of the men fighting and made the promise of bringing him home. That was when we gods decided that we and humans must never befriend one another. Humans die and we do not. Ares could not keep his promise and in turn he locked himself away." I nodded my head as Lord Poseidon told his nephews story. He became silent as he looked down on me.

"Is there something wrong, sir?" he nodded and stood. I did the same.

"The rules that were set no longer apply to you. You have done something only a mortal soul can. You died. I Poseidon, God of the sea, waters and earthquakes, hereby banish you to the human world. For my sake and your own you may never return to Olympus. You cannot come into contact with any other God than I." I was frozen. I knew that I was an outsider, but never had the thought of being banished crossed my mind. I looked behind me at the far of human town. He pointed in that direction.

"You want me to...stay in this realm forever!? I've never even met a human before. How am I supposed to fit into this world?" he sighed and looked over at Peta who bowed her head.

"I'm sorry. I knew that this would be the outcome of this particular situation. I meant to tell you, but in the fear of the moment it slipped my mind. Though hearing it from me might have been worse. We've only just met and you care much more for Lord Poseidon. I thought it wise to let him break the news to you. I guess it's bad news no matter the person. Έπρεπε να ξέρω." I shook my head and crossed my arms.

"I refuse. I've lived in Olympus my entire life. My home is there, my friends, my job, my life is there. I can't go live with these unintelligible creatures. They literally need us to live! And they hate me!" the two of them gave a quick glance at one another before Peta sighed in annoyance.

"I will ease you into life with the humans. Thankfully you Gods resemble the humans greatly. They know me and the other's already. Εχω σχέδιο. You will stay with me and I will tell the humans that I found and raised you among the Nymphs. I will teach you their ways and one day send you off to become apart of their society." I shook my head in disagreement. If I stay here, that would take away time that I could be using to find Mateo. I promised him that I would and I won't let them hold me back from my main objective.

"I can't. I came out here for a reason. I thought you, Lord Poseidon, of all people would help me, but now I understand. You just don't want the extra attention. Having me around would get you in trouble with Lord Zeus, so you're sending me away!" the words left my mouth before I could catch them. The area became quiet. All that could be heard was the wind rushing by and the sound of waves rising, then all of a sudden I could hear the screams of the Nymphs from a far. He'd began to rage just as he always did, except this time he dragged bystanders into our argument. I was always like this.

"How dare you disobey your king!?" the ground began to quiver under my feet and break away. I flew into the air and looked down at him. Peta cowered in fear behind him.

"The way I see it, you're no longer my king. After-all, you did just banish me!" above me I gathered the dust in the air and formed a cloud. I push it to it's limit, making it as big as I possibly could. With a single motion of my wrist I made in rain hail upon the earth. I forced the hail to extend it's edges into points as sharp as blades and began to flail them at the ground around the two. Our arguments always ended with a fight such as this, but never as bad as this one. I always kept my composer and held my anger in. I only ever focused on calming him down, but now I don't care. It's no longer my job to care. The only thing that can help my now is a distraction so I can fly away. I broke the clouds into fragments and pushed them to the ground. They began to to circle the two. The clouds built together making a cyclone of hail and snow. Finally there was a blindspot that I could use to escape. I flew away in the direction of the human settlements as fast as I could. The farther I got the harder it was to hold my power over them, so I let go and raced against the time I had left. I looked back to see the cyclone slowly falling apart without my support and disappearing. It didn't matter now. I was close enough to the humans for Poseidon not to follow. I landed a ways outside the town to rest. I ended up in the place I wanted to stay away from, but I wasn't staying for long. I am going to find Mateo.
