"Hoho. This must be the button for the keel's lasers. Lieutenant, come here. I found a way to extract the energy needed to fire this thing. We could theoretically fire it at Osno's Blitzkrieg Interceptor. I'm pretty sure they'll be able to absorb the energy, but I need permission." (Chris)
"I'm not of a high enough position to ask for that directly, but I can ask the Major. Hey, Pharah. You can ease up on the spell soon. We're about to take this thing back towards space." Fawkes says to the earpiece.
"About time you got that thing running.... Make sure to kill as many of the aliens as you can. We can't risk another incident.... like this happening again. I know I can't." Pharah says, her speech clearly stopping in between to take a few breaths.
"Alright. We'll leave Chris alone here with two other people to guard him. The others will be following me and helping exterminate all the filth in this ship. Hopefully you don't die or something." (Fawkes)
***********************
"Alright. Team One will be heading towards the left wing and clearing the area as much as possible. You find any alien, you kill it. Same goes for Team Two, who'll be heading towards the right wing. After doing that, we'll regroup in the ship's middle part. Got it? SPLIT!" (Fawkes)
Team One was lead by Fawkes, who was clearly running rampant around the ship. They were met with resistance from the Karman, who had set up multiple ambush positions along the corridors.
"One alien sniper spotted at three o' clock, lieutenant."
"Got it. Take care of my twelve, I'll be rushing through, so don't fall behind. Flame Blast!" A wave of scorching heat, emitted from Fawkes' hand, was aimed at two Karman wielding laser rifles. "Oh?" Fawkes looked to his ten and found another group that consisted of seven Karman.
The group was in an almost Scottish "Schiltron" formation. Six of the Karman were holding circular plasma shields, with a hole in the right side that allowed their spears to be held on their right hands. The plasma shields, despite being fully transparent, almost like glass, shrugged off the various fire magic blows that Fawkes dealt without a scratch.
Inside the "Schiltron", there was one Karman who wielded a staff twice it's height. Despite the Karman's clearly taller stature, they managed to make staves that were fit for battle along with their huge structures. Lifting up the weapon, it slammed down the metallic lower end of the staff on the ship's floor, creating a reverberating sound that deafened the ears.
"Fuck, that's loud. Is that the attack? Sound?" (Fawkes)
"I don't think so, lieutenant. Look at the walls."
The sound that came from the staff seemed to wake up something in the walls. As an almost infinite amount of small metallic critters, similar in appearance to Ladybugs, began to emerge from the surface, and began crawling towards Fawkes' group rapidly.
"Uh, that doesn't look good. "The Floor Is Lava." Fawkes' red hair began to glow. Instantly, the temperature around the area increased dramatically.
Tsst...
"Find a foothold or something to grab on! Don't touch the floor at all costs!" Fawkes said as he jumped onto an elevated box that looked sturdy enough.
All the other soldiers did the same and took refuge on some upraised structures.
The Karman, unaware of the danger, were still locked tight in their formation.
Soon one of the Karman noticed the surrounding getting warmer. It merely dismissed the small drop of sweat dripping from its cheek as a matter of energy, which of course, was perfectly logical in this situation, seeing as how it had been defending against most of the magic attacks.
But then those worries proved to be more than just a slight increase in temperature. Now the Karman realized it. The room was getting HOT.
Unknowingly the Karman began to split off in various directions and disregarded the original position, and now the staff user was stuck there, without any protection.
Their efforts in fleeing were useless though, as the rapidly rising lava soon submerged tje metallic floor and rose all the way to be at least three feet deep.
Small bits of ember were flung around with a tsst sound. When it touched a Karman, it burnt hotter than what it's size could physically do, leaving burn marks on the enemies' bodies.
This was Fawkes' spell, The Floor Is Lava. While the name might not be intimidating, the effects were truly devastating. A pool of lava would constantly be rising over a vast area, so anyone who didn't take the hint and move immediately would lose their feet, burned to nothing by the lava.
"Fuck, looks like we're good. I hope the other enemies we meet aren't as annoying as these fuckers." (Fawkes)
"As expected of lieutenant, he took care of those aliens easily!" A soldier said.
"I was worried that it would turn into a who-falls-first battle. Good thing he was here." Another said.
"Alright enough of that. Let's keep going and find all the other assholes in the area." (Fawkes)
***********
"Lieutenant Fawkes, I've got complete control of the StellarWing!" Chris said over the earpiece.
"Stellar... what exactly? Anyway, good job. We're just about finishing up here." (Fawkes)
"Well, think about it. This whole spaceship came from another world, hell, maybe even another universe, and it looks like a bird. Sounds cool, right?" (Chris)
"Uh, huh. Whatever. We're heading back, maybe we'll bump into the Right Wing team. You get started on preparing everything for launch, we'll be there in a few minutes." (Fawkes)
"Copy." (Chris)
*********
"Prepare for launch. We will be ascending shortly." (Chris)
Hearing this, everyone who had gathered braced themselves. Some looked around for sturdy objects to sit on, otherd grabbed onto well built metal pipes... some Earth Magic users even conjured benches.
"3, 2, 1, Takeoff!" (Chris)
At once, a strong pressure pushed all the soldiers up against the wall. A few bulkier soldiers managed to hold on on the initial ascent, but only Fawkes was able to steady himself.
"Oddly enough, this feels a lot like how a rocket built by us would ascend. And I thought alien technology found a way around this. Welp, just hold on." (Fawkes)
Compared to the calm Fawkes who didn't seem the slightest bit fazed, almost all the others were on the floor or against the wall, reaching their hands around in hopes of something sturdy landing in their grips.
For the ones who weren't as lucky... well they let's just say they were fortunate enough to only have a bruise or two.
A minute or so later, the pressure had stopped. Nothing was keeping the soldiers from standing up and stretching.
One soldier who had gotten up earlier than the others dragged his body to the window and peered outside.
What awaited him was a beautiful sight- the endless dark space, and the slow rotation of Krodoa below. Stars everywhere, stars as far as the eye could see.
"Now that's a sight. But Chris, maybe get an alien pilot's license next time. Almost all my men were hurt." Fawkes sighs at the sight of his men sprawled over the ground.
"Hehe, my bad. Although I was correct about the controls being game-like." (Chris)
"So... I don't think we planned this, lieutenant.. but what's next?" The soldier from earlier asked.
"We've lost contact with HQ, which makes sense since we're in space. Communication with Pharah was already hard enough back in Krodoa's skies." (Fawkes)
"What about..." Chris leaned in to whisper into Fawkes' ear. What continued was a series of giggles and "oh, then next...", and some "oh, that's a great idea! Then we'll...."
"All soldiers! Rise!" Fawkes slapped his hands together, startling some of the soldiers still on the floor.
A little later, all the soldiers were gathered in front of Fawkes. Except for the fact that they weren't standing. They were floating around the control room uncontrollably.
"Oh yeah. Guess we're far enough that Krodoa's gravity can't pull us down anymore. I barely noticed it sitting on this chair." Chris looks at the chair he was sitting on, which was firmly planted to the floor.
Fawkes also seemed to have noticed, but he was somehow able to keep himself a few centimeters off the floor, making it seem like he wasn't floating, but had just grown a bit taller.
"Let me have your attention, again. Here's our plan. Ruria has already mapped out the whole ship, so you already know where the escape pods are, right?" Fawkes receives a series of nods from the soldiers.
"Alright. So our main objective is to drive this ship a good distance away from Krodoa. Far enough that there's no chance of it ever entering it's orbit. Then I'll blow this whole thing apart, while you guys simultaneously use your magic to help push it away further." He adds on.
"Then.." Chris speaks up. "Wind Magic Users and the others whose magic type isn't good for pushing something this big, will be heading towards the escape pods and arranging everything. Each Pod will have at least two proficient Wind And Fire users to help guide and propel the pods towards Krodoa. Hopefully we enter its gravitational pull, then just pray to your god that you'll survive."
"If you do survive, hopefully we see you again. No one knows if we will land at a certain location, so on our way down, try to get in contact with HQ. That's it. Any questions?" (Fawkes)
A brief silence ensued. No questions.
"Alright. Operation: Birdy Flying, blame Chris for the name, is now in action. Ready? SPLIT!" (Fawkes)
*************
"Chris here. We're all set to continue on driving away. Are the escape pods ready?"
"All set and ready to go." Ruria replies.
"Alright. Everybody brace and get ready. Can't be having you fall over again." (Fawkes)
"Ready? Commencing movement in 3, 2, 1... engines enabled." (Chris)
The humongous figure of the ship soon moved slowly. It's wings, seemingly looking useless, actually had some use. Specially built thrusters were equipped on either side to allow for turning much easier. Finding this our after fiddling with the controls, Chris took advantage of this feature to help maneuver and steer the ship in the right direction.
Soon the ship faced opposite Krodoa. The ship's back thrusters began firing up, and then once again a fierce pressure pushed against the soldiers. But this time they were ready for it. Bracing, almost none of the soldiers lost balance. Only the frail ones were tipped over, and with the assistance of the more well built ones, they were able to get back up on their feet.
**********
"Lieutenant Fawkes, we're quite a few ways away from Krodoa now. I'm positive that this ship will keep on going if we blast it with a force strong enough." (Chris)
"Heh. You can count on that. Alright, soldiers, prepare for Phase Two! Ready the space suits!" (Fawkes)
***********
"Huh, so this is what space feels like." A group of over fifteen people were floating behind the rear of the ship.
The ship's rear thrusters were huge in size and looked as if it coulf swallow three blue whales easily. So huge, that they couldn't believe they withstood the force of this monstrosity.
"Alright. Everyone get ready. Phase Three will start soon." Fawkes was floating around in his suit. Behing the "launch" group, multiple pods were lined up, and were ready to head to Krodoa.
"Ready! Release." (Fawkes)
"Flame Burst!"
"Landslide Force!"
Many Magic Spells were cast on the ship.
At first, it didn't seem like it affected the huge ship the slightest bit. Then slowly, it moved. Until more barrage of spells were released, pushing the ship's overbearing size even further.
"Goodbye, ship. It was a fun ride. Flame Burst!" Fawkes chanted one last spell, this one stronger than the rest.
Upon contact, the force of the spell assisted the ship in moving more, and the strength knocked it back, all the way to the stars.
"And... it's outta here, ladies and gentlemen! Thank you for coming to the show!" (Chris)
"Commencing Phase Four. Good job, guys. It's time to head back home. Emergency Exhibition Platoon, heading out. Mission accomplished." The figures of the soldiers were seen heading back to the various pods, before they moved and headed back to the direction of Krodoa.
"Fuck, I'm beat. Hand me the mana potion. I fucking forgot mana particles aren't in space... I feel like passing out..." (Fawkes)
