Chapter 16 - Chapters 15. And 16. Combined

My alone feels so good.

I'll only have you, if you're sweeter than my solitude.

.

The tension that surged up his legs made him feel like he would inevitably crash or worse,

plunder.

Alexander began to turn on the balls of his feet staring face to face— eye to eye with his trembling mate. Occasionally did the tendon in his thigh quiver, but he remained stiffen nonetheless.

Her irises flickered between his and the floor, while the strength he emits becoming too strong to withstand against.

Studying the area beaneath her wiggling toes, Vera realized never before had the floors looked so interesting until now. Greying marble decorated with broken glass. "What is going on here..." Vera begins her interrogation.

Her feet had moved on their own accord when she began the search for the prince but what she had found instead was a bit more bone-chilling and questionable. In stoic glory stood her mate, and beside him resided his starry eyed beta, Hector, and his brown-haired female, Mavis, who shuddered repulsively out of nervousness.

Hector cocks a single eyebrow before raising a pointed finger at her, "Vera I don't think you should be out of bed right now. The pack doctor says you're in no good condition." He says sheepishly, but the glance Alexander gives him is enough to shut him up. Regretfully he thinks maybe he shouldn't have said anything.

Vera has only been in this office one time ever and on the first occasion had it been sharp. Neat was the paintings on his walls as was the vases and regular decor. Now all of those things were either shattered or broken into pieces scattered across his floor, and she couldn't decipher why.

Vera only glances more around Alexander's office taking everything in while comparing to how it looked prior. If Alexander had said anything in the midst of her soft inspection she chose to ignore him.

She focuses her attention back on the Lycan despite how much his gaze burned her insides, her very core hums from the hearth alongside the place he had previously sunk his teeth into during the marking. Openly glaring at them all, she raised a say eyebrow toward Heidi who stood at her side. "What the hell is going on here." She asks.

It was more than evident she had walked in on a heated discussion shared between the trio. They all exchanged worried glances as if their hearts would tumble from the mounds in their ass.

Pushing back the want to submit, she maintains Alexander's gaze locked with hers. "I want the truth and the whole truth. Now." Her demand is filled with crude. The prince reveals his wolf's teeth that he'd been fighting back all this time, while they were cutting at his lower lip like pine and dagger-like thorns.

"You need to concede."

"I won't ask again." It was like a gush of electricity had run all along Vera's nerves, reaching out to strangle the alpha who imposed dissent, hostility spilling from his pores into a pool everyone could swim in.

Vera wanted nothing more in that moment than to claw out Alexander's throat boldly with no remorse, and that's if she had talons of her own anyway. Indefinitely, she never felt this way before. Something in her mind had begun to sprout, and it strives off this very male in front of her line of vision.

"Make me." She challenges.

The aggravation danced within the prince making everyone want to bow to him in pure,

Raw, submission.

It had both Mavis and Hector fall to their knees, wincing out aloud. The only two that stood were Vera and Heidi but even Heidi was fighting back the overwhelming sensation to yield. She clutches Alexander's desk to keep herself from falling on her side but it was futile. She began to shut her eyes tightly from agonizing pain.

But how could Vera withstand the command of an Alpha?

The aura around the two mates grew prominent as it glistened, creating a circle around them that cradled everyone else inside of the office into fetal positions while projecting a heart wrenching sound in their ears. Both standing their ground, the alpha pair began lessening the distance between them with slow steps assessing toward the other.

She could see her mate  mumble something but the blood pumping in her ears made her deaf until he finally snapped her back into reality.

Alexander wraps his entire hand around Vera's throat giving it a tug. He was getting a thrill out of it and it showed. He suppresses a grin upon realization at how equivalent she grew to him without barley even trying.

His chest grew heated as he inhaled to exhale heavily throughout his mouth for it to fan Vera's cheeks that grew rosy, but she remained indifferent. All while the alpha began to feel fuzzy and compressed until everything of his senses was engulfed by her.

Vera's chest feels damn near infiltrated by both butterflies and some wild, feral, thing that envelops the newly found mate bond which purges all senses of anger. "I know what you're hiding from me." Her voice comes out quieter than she intended but it felt like she was screaming. "Why are keeping me in the dark like this Alexander? Why do you place me under endless torment..." She all but pleads.

Angst.

There it was again.

He hesitates to release her but contemplates against it, deciding to keep her close. He hears the sincerity in her voice but not exactly what she's saying. Everything comes out into murmurs as he's admiring the bite around her neck that seemed to be in seek of his attention, it shimmered at him. It coaxed him to come closer and puncture the same wound only so he could overlap it with his tongue again.

Then the memory of how it had gotten there flashes before his eyes, making him feel apologetic for almost killing her but somehow he didn't feel anything close to being contrite. He held no regrets, no remorse. Only his hard prize seems to be smiling at him in the back of his head along with his wolf.

Bane had a hard time determining whether if marking his mate to speed up the mating process was truly a good thing as he weighed out the cons with pristine. Not only would it make her want him even more, but it would bless her with a feral side of her own to give her the sort of strength she displayed now. Then would they truly be equals.

Before he could pull back or register what was going on he felt himself leaning in to the curve of his mate's neck and before she could correspond he already had his lips latched onto the pulsating area.

Blood still oozed from her wound which he had lathered with his tongue until it was cleansed or until his wolf was satisfied. Bane still refused to ease up not til after Vera released a desperate moan following behind a shove at his chest but this seemed effortless, his kiss became more aggressive and hungry. "Alex," Her voice gave out into another squeal.

Suddenly the pleasure turned into pain. "Ow stop it!" She tries again but he was too occupied with his assault. "Stop you're hurting me!" She hisses internally until the beta decided to intervene.

"Bane? that's enough you're hurting her!" Hector shouted, grasping at his alpha's shoulder.

Hector began to tug at his Alpha's shirt until he gripped tighter around his broad shoulders in attempt at pulling him off, but the Lycanthrope did not budge. Alexander whips his head around so fast Vera thought it would've given him whiplash.

The red ichor drizzled down his mouth giving him a more beasty appearance, and his stomach ached for a more swine appetite that only his other half could subdue. His eyes were shifting to their color of scarlet wine that resembled a void  swarming with empty and darkness. "You do not get to make that decision, when it's comes to what is in my full possession." The alpha on the inside proclaimed as if he were drunken. Fed fully with intoxication from his mate's inner pus.

Alexander has his arms wrapping securely around Vera and soon locks his grip.  He didn't seem to want to move a muscle until his sister Heidi came into vision, tugging at his other arm adjacent to Hector. "Yes we know this. This is true, brother. She is yours. But the wound has done yet to heal it's not safe-"

Suddenly all the objects around them rumbled and began to shake, "You think I don't know any better on keeping my own mate safe? How you delegate what I'm capable of providing for my endeavours," Vera succumbs in the pits of her mate's chest feeling every inch of his muscle ripple underneath her, his heat becoming nearly as impatient.

Every advances Hector and Mavis made to get closer was rejected by a growl and display of shiny teeth from the Lycan, caging his mate. Every step they made to get closer only pissed the alpha off even more.

His wolf was on edge — truly it was a battle within that made him seem so carnal.  And to think all the alpha wolf wanted was to care for his mate by himself. Could he not do that?

"Guys I think it's best we go, we must leave. Nothing is working." Heidi sighs. She knew how it was between mates and how especially Lycans acted towards their counterparts. "Fine." Mavis didn't want to go, she wanted Vera to know the truth as much as she did but for now they were on pause. "We'll go for now."

Hector follows suit behind them and he closes the door leaving Alexander and Vera alone. Only his mind grew worried on what was yet to come.

The lycanthrope didn't bother to release her. He lets his back hit the wall behind him before sliding down with Vera still shivering in his arms. Reluctantly but slowly, his wolf gave him back control.

Vera lets a single tear slide down her face as she turns to look at him without completely shifting in her place on his lap. For the first time did Forest green meet wine. "Alexander, how did Heidi know we were mates.Where's the rest of the royal family. Why did I feel a mate pull toward your brother, Adonis. Why does-"

He want to kill you

Alexander stops his mate's endless banter with his lips hitting her's abruptly. It felt like everything good in the world had reached its peek, as she deepens the kiss that fluctuated off hunger in absolution. His hands wasted no time turning her fully around and aligning around her hips on top of his. Menacingly, he watches the color darken in her eyes as he pushes his bulge between her legs after pressing his lips onto hers much harder.

Electricity pranced around the two as Vera's bite mark sizzled on contact

as it did when Alexander first touches it, staking his claws threw the pink surface.

Vera's POV

.

After hovering my nails timidly,

I skimmed my fingers down the clothe on my mate's backside for my own relaxation before he visibly shivers, being buried underneath my arms.

Staring longingly not bothering to move, I shifted my weight all at once onto one foot as my back was supported by the grey walls of his office, and I swear for the first time in a long time I see galaxies.

A decade could've gone by while me and my divine counterpart were staring at each other, as if the world wouldn't crumple beneath us or better yet... my strength wouldn't give out into a collapse. Of course it took me until then to realize I was falling, but could anyone blame me? I had just been released from my alleged deathbed not even two full hours ago and I felt like my body would surely break apart into pieces that shaped Pangea, my heart beat is increasingly faster by the millisecond but I ignored it's warning sent to my chest.

There's nothing I want more in this moment but to sleep by my mate. In a calmer more signifying world I could do that, in a consecrated world... we were human.

Snapping me back into reality, I awaited the impact of the floor upon falling and when it hadn't came I swiped at my forehead for the sweat as I took a deep relaxing breathe in. Once exhaling, my mate tightens his grasp around my waist, he makes soothing finger circles on my hip bone; pulling me into his lap.

I couldn't help but to subconsciously relax after becoming instantly transfixed and stiff. But his head fell to the creak in my neck so in response I had to sacrifice comfort for his own.

Dark brown hair was tickling my jaw and I released another sigh I didn't even register I was holding.

For so long we sat wordlessly it made me think any moment now I'd surely forget to breathe each time I blinked.

Not only had I saw galaxies in my mate's eyes but I saw stars. The grey that shielded cosmos after loop holes shadowing grey pools of diamonds. How I would curse the gods if I lost all sight. Had I cared before for someone so strongly like I did for the prince?

Like Heidi had promised neither her, Hector, nor Mavis returned. I didn't know if I grew grateful of this or... distraught. Not to mention the hairs on the back of my neck stood sharp and anointing, it only reminded me of how truly, dangerously close we were, and I sought to cease the existing distance.

Deep down rattling on the inside though I was sure about one thing, I didn't want to move.

In fact I wanted to stay in this soft position for life with him as everyone else disappeared in the corners of their imperfect, calloused universe of immoral beasts. It only taunted me more knowing I was one myself and also fated to one as-well. So no matter how I'd eventually have to look beyond these inaccessible treasons, one day somehow... it'll all make sense.

It was only a matter of time before I would turn, thus I did bare my Alexander's mark. Whether it was sooner or later, hopefully the latter, it was truly inevitable.

Inevitable as were a few other things such as death. My soul being entwined with a beast.

The Malediction for the throne.

I'm almost positive these things cannot be overcame in one night.

I've also made an obscene note that... calling my male a beast wouldn't subject me to anything better because at the end of the day we all fall short to something, whereas at the same time, Alexander wasn't beast at all.

If anything he was the closest thing to human than anyone I've ever met, surprisingly that is to say.

He's slightly more angry and easily irritated perhaps but that's because he lets his wolf side persuade the humane inside of him.

I'm aware according to everyone else how unlikely this sounds, questionable even, without actually reminiscing on the time we've spent together but to me it made perfect sense.

"What are you thinking about, Mate." A rumbling sound emits from Bane and I feel as he lifts his head from my shoulder while his skin is literally burning every entity around me, so I take the time to choose wisely what I'd say next.

His hair falls over his forehead messily, and he does what I've been wanting to do this entire time to him, he pushes one of my loose curls behind my ear as his gaze penetrates me. "Thoughts." I confess but it felt more like a conviction rather than a confession.

He furrows his eyebrows but instead of replying to me he pulls me into his chest with a protective arm cradling my head. "Why can't we be normal, Alexander." I mumble shyly so quiet, I'm afraid I didn't even hear my own voice but hopefully he had.

He sighs threw his nostrils and he lets his head softly fall onto mine, comforting and betraying all at the same time because I feel with zero regards; my body will correspond with his no matter the situation. I mold into his skin perfectly as we perch our backsides onto the walls which I couldn't help but to romanticize, but that isn't anything but the bond's fault.

"We aren't normal." He reinforces the same tone I used on him only it's more monotonous, his authority seems to engulf all of my senses.

Around this male I fail an attempt to focus, my sense of smell is always fucked up along with my capability to justify what is good and what is irrationally heinous because without remorse, Alexander Bane is all of those things. The only thing I can depend on to guide me is....

Well of course touch... and all of my abilities to observe. Probably taste but I'm not directed to try that out.

"You are my peace," I shudder into a void like state and Alexander was the only person here with me. "You are my sanctuary." Is the last thing he says before we fall back into a dreading silence.

•••

If anyone ever told Vera one day she'd get to see a feral eclipse she'd think they were nuts.

As a child she'd spend long hours in solitude succumbing in darkness after a bad day. The days were so dreading she'd wander deep into the forest just to gaze up into the night sky hoping anything other than pain would come into collision.

By this ...it fascinated her that somedays she'd see stars and some days she'd simply see,

Nothing.

The days she wouldn't see a single star in sight, only blackness, she called these the dark days along with all of her unsettling ordeals in the back of her mind all bellowing out the same thing.

A mate. Someone to whisk her away from this world to another dimension, where she could live out all of her fantasies.

Breaking away from her her prince's burning irises, she sees all of his belongings shattered around them in nearly a thousand pieces.

All she could focus on was his deep elluring grey eyes that whispered her name and her name alone. That and his hot breath that continuously fanned her face.

Her soul yearned for this male and could no one ignite this feeling, and besides that she didn't want anyone else to spur such emotions.

Could one scorch her skin with just a single kiss like he could?

The answer was clear as day melting away in her heart that beats the same rhythm as his, matching exact without even trying.

Suddenly Alexander lifts Vera in the air while encircling her legs around his waist, she stirred slightly but hadn't broken eye contact.

How many cities were conquered with just a burning gape, seething threw barriers.

Only then could Vera muster the conversation their souls could have that a thousands words couldn't.

Vera hadn't even registered they were moving until she felt her mate's arm cradle her bridle style as he left out of his office. He still hadn't bothered to say a thing. "Where are we going?" Is all she can mumble feeling numb in his grasps as he pulled her closer, flushed against his chest.

He looks to be debating on the answer after he finally looks away from her going down the path away from the manor — he was determined. She silently prayed he wasn't taking her to that sickly smelling infirmary. Something intensely probed at her to trust his bold lead, that's when she had known he'd rid her of it.

Curiosity.
