He fell in love with her soul
before
He torched her skin.
.
Imagine turning on the faucet to a tub.
Letting out all of the cool water before it goes soothingly hot; momentarily taking you by surprise. But that was expected, who didn't know the product upon patience one seeks for taking a warm bath for relaxation and cleansing of the body and... soul, would be hot water.
Only except in this case Bane, was that water.
It was maddening how one moment he's threatening the expanse of Vera's life, then in the next he's all soft and cuddly with her fully knowing he'd go back to being a perplexed double edged sword. Vera only sighs letting him lead her idly. She didn't question his tactics to lead since for so long that's all she saw him as. A leader, a mature lycan prince with a poised temper.
"Sometimes I wonder what has you so engrossed inside that head of yours," Alexander inquires.
His voice is steady and hard but filled of worry and sincerity. Vera notes how he doesn't stray from the path leading the two deeper and deeper into the forest, all while keeping his body rigid and tense, "Absolutely nothing." Vera says quickly.
"We're here," Alexander chimes and Vera swears she spotted a slight smile upturning upon his face before he replaces it with a deepening frown. He places Vera down on her feet slowly but she didn't want to leave his grasps. Not only because he was warm and protective but she swayed side to side as her head whipped around when she looked at her surroundings.
She wanted to sulk being apart from her mate but pushed the feeling aside while balancing her frigid stance. It takes awhile for her to say anything as she gawks at their surroundings. A green lake that looks to be taken over by plants and a grassy wildlife. What others would find ugly —Vera saw innocent beauty in.
Small frogs hopping on lily pads, although the water had a greenish tint to it; Vera could see clearly the tiny fishes that swam quickly from even bigger amphibians. "What is this," she couldn't help the smile that draped over her mouth that she tried to hide but couldn't.
Alexander pulls her hand back admiringly and this time he shows one of his own.
With his cheeky grin mirroring hers, "I want you to see me, Vera." Absentmindedly the grimace vanished from his face as he reinforces a more blank and ominous one. "All of me."
Bane felt divisible and more vulnerable in this moment seeing the bleak facial expression his mate returned but instead of commenting more on it, he pulled her hand to rest it onto his chest where he slid her palm further down until it fell lazily to his hip. "What are you saying to me, Alexander." Vera mumbles with her eyes directed to where he controlled her hand.
They were both equally lost for words until suddenly he used his other hand to wrap it around his mate's collar bone soon shifting his tenderness to the back of her neck. He raised it until he roughly yanked the nape of her neck, "I can show you better than I could tell," he interjects as his masculine voice became more demanding and incontestable.
Vera hadn't even fully interpreted what was being put into action until Alexander compellingly slammed his mouth onto hers, where their lips molded perfectly. He held Vera by the hair with construction as she fell short from oxygen into their passionate dance of tongues.
He sliced his tongue over her bottom lip after pulling her top lip into his mouth where he tugged domineeringly but with innocence as he desired a taste. A taste of her.
The kiss rippled energy into one another until it felt never ending. Vera visibly shudders as the heat coming from her hand shook nervously as she clutched at her lover's lower abdomen, which was also directed by him in between their tasting of one another. "Mine." Bane doesn't refrain the growl that left from his mouth as Vera moaned, feverishly.
The kiss ceased after Bane realized Vera was panting and her breathing became labored, so he pulled away whilst still clutching her cheek. With concentration, he then sighs. "I want you just as bad as you want me." The alpha turns his mate around until she couldn't face him anymore and all Vera could do was take in gulps of air loudly and vibrate in fits of impatience.
"But you see, after I show you this. I've concluded that you'd never want me," Alexander confessed and to Vera's dismay, he stopped her before she could testify why she felt she could never unwant him, unlove him.
Her fingers tremor around his wrist as he shielded her eyes and asserted her to walk forward.
"Now become completely still for a moment. Whatever you do...do not run." Alexander says but with that warning he became serious. Vera nods despite the fact he couldn't see her anymore with every retreating step he took discarding his clothing.
Vera began to bounce on the balls of her feet as her anxiety grew by the millisecond. Everything was moving rather quickly and realized she was now in the forest... alone.
He had been gone now longer than what she expected and she was starting to be consumed by her thoughts and subconscious.
She fiddles with her thumbs and pushes back strands of her hair out of angst and she so desperately wanted to call for her alpha but debated against it. Her excitement long gone at this point now after sitting in solitude and it was replaced with uncertainty and sorrow.
She turned around hastily but before she could venture forward her face is thrusted into something soft. So soft instantly it has her wrapping her hands around it still with her eyes shut tightly.
Her hands play in it for awhile by the mass when she decides to pull back — opening her eyes to come face to face with, a wolf.
It's dark spectating irises deadpans, with a knowing regard swimming with lust, that knowing feeling spiraled within her chest but the scent of this wolf was off putting. So foreign to the nose but familiar in its glaze.
She knows this is her mate but she didn't expect for his scent to water her mouth and change threw his transitioning.
His wolf towers over her as he pushes his fur deeper into her hands, where he remained circling around her. Vera found it comical how his wolf was more friendlier than he was, and this is their first meeting.
Alexander's wolf started to purr with it getting louder, Vera ruffled up his light brown fur, feeling him nipping at her cheek before she broke out into fits of laughter.
The wolf lays on his back peeking at Vera threw the fur that resides on his face surrounding his eyelashes while he growls, fidgeting to his side.
Vera's smile grows wider as she sits in front of him reading the gesture, she doesn't hesitate to cuddle him — his fur tickling her skin.
The wolf throws his paw over her protectively sensing her drowsiness and this only seems to encourage her eyes further to close, which they did.
What felt to be hours later Vera wakes up pressed harder into the ground uncomfortably and yawns. The bushy wolf was now, nowhere in sight.
She figured he was out and debated to leave him there but she didn't know the path back home. She stumbles pass trees as her stomach growls out of malnourishment when she collides with something hard. Or someone.
Before she could collect herself suddenly she's being turned sharply around with her front being pressed against a tree and her back against a rigid, strong chest.
By the contours of every limb of his pressing against Vera's backside, she knows it's a male but he doesn't smell anything close to her male, so without thinking she releases a desperate cry as his pelvis digs deeper into her ass while her front dug into the tree's surface, "I find it unwise that your Alpha leaves you out here like this. All alone, unintended." His voice coming out smoother than honey and softer than anything Vera could ever touch.
Despite her whole body wanting to fret she debated against it. She wasn't scared at all on the inside, but there was always a second thought in the back of her head spewing other things. One being to run! She thrashed around violently as the man who encircled her took deep engulfs of hair, and he began to lift her against the tree until she stood at his height.
"Why is that." Vera inquires in response. She felt like a jack rabbit with how the blood rushes to her face filled with heat at the way this man felt undeniable serial and... familiar at the same time.
So she stops resisting as his grip lessened, "There are these creatures that roam. Monstrosities who live without regulation, like rogue wolves who pounce on sight. Even I would stray from them." His voice is clipped but the tone is fragile as he gets closer towards her ear, causing butterflies to erupt within her animation.
The effect he had on her was instant and Vera felt all too wrong to the point she wanted to barf!
Her haven of skin seem to bend at his will as her inner being, that was dormant, clawed for a simple graze of this man and she didn't know why. "Monsters... like you?" Vera says quieter than she intended. Sweat slid from her forehead as she thrusted against him with her bum in order to create some form of space.
In her action she realized this was futile.
She feels a rumble come from his chest against her body and she accepted her fate, "Why Of course," He answers as he keeps Vera pinned down. "Monsters like me."
Vera shuffles as hot tears threatened to spill from her eyelids but she fought them back, "Listen, I know who you are." She says. "If you let me go I won't tell my mate," At the dared assessment, a dangerous melody is heard from the stranger who made everything in Vera want to beg to him at his feet for something, anything.
If only it were that simple.
He clears his throat sharply, "Trust me when I say this, the last thing on this earth that could at all harm me is your second mate, Darling." He pulls her flush against his chest as she collides harder into him.
The hardness in his lower region doesn't fleet absently but Vera chose to ignore it. A moan out of frustration is heard from her accidentally while another rumble is released from Adonis. "You would be the first thing that could ever bring me to my knee."
Before Vera could ask him further what he meant she heard rustling come north to where they were and she spots the dirt path Archelaus took. "Shit." Adonis curses aloud, Vera's hands shook worriedly — as the voice spewing her name neared.
Adonis felt to be releasing her but instead he only tightened his grip, shoving her deeper into wood that nipped at her skin. Her hair fell over her face while he began to press his familiar lips into the side of her neck where he hummed quietly, "What is that you want from me?" Vera asks, curiosity was killing her.
"You ask of what I want as if you had intentions of giving it to me," He retorted while rubbing into her skin with his bareness. Vera felt exposed when truly it was him who resides in stark naked glory likewise the same day he was born. So with a voice as slippery as crimson, "For every one that asks shall receive," The dusk haired girl teased.
Internally she gawked at herself at her sad attempt at flirting and he didn't know why but Adonis found it charming and it surprised him slightly. Though it openly had taken him aback it wasn't enough for him to suddenly ease up his grip. His nose skimmed the length of her neck as seduction aroused in a flutter inside of her heart.
"Hey you can't do that."
The male's chest rumbled with admiration as he molded into her smaller form with patience, "I have a mate whose mine and I'm-" Vera was on the verge of finishing her declaration when another growl leaped from a throat with mild frustration and so much anger that it vibrates even through her. "I dare you." He seethed.
His growling refused to cease, "I dare you to complete that sentence so help me god I'll take you right here." Adonis sharply promised and Vera could almost feel it radiating off of him in waves of terror and angst.
More voices scrying out Vera's name bellowed until every fibre inside of her body was milked of emotion where she became very stiff and still.
"Quick, that's him! you have to let me go." Vera shouted in a whisper. Adonis still doesn't reveal himself to her, but he didn't have to.
She recognized his brooding manner that leeched onto her host, robbing her of sense and rational thinking. Everything about him was alienated and vague, and she had a million things to ask him. She also knew too well something about him riveted shocking familiars down her spine, whereas suspicion shrieked in her ears in affirmation, it was only one thing that could confirm what she'd been dreading.
A dream.
"You should go east." She feels him moving around from behind her.
Adonis engulfs Vera's side wrapping his arms around her in a hug, she could feel him mellowing inside of her scent. "Look at you, wanting to protect me." Adonis chuckles but Vera doesn't deny it nor reply. A deep red blush arises from her neck to her cheeks.
Words were cut short as they went back and forth on when they would meet each other again. The feeling of being relieved consumed her while wholesome regret bit at it.
Here she was making plans with the brother she knew Alexander hated. He kisses the side of her face when she hears another worried voice from her mate calling out to her again.
"Until next time." Adonis says one last time as she feels the weight of him disappear but it was replaced by bitter coldness and leaves that reminded her of something similar to adulteries.
She looks around if she could get one last glimpse of him but she found nothing. Only his scent lingered and the ghost of his lips pressing against her ear.
She reels around instantly to come eye to eye with the wine color she began to hate to love.
Alexander stands to his full height with an ancient book in his hands which he brings to his side as the color in eyes turned darker and he froze in his footsteps. His mind, grimace and gaze steadied transfixed. The prince began to gag repulsively, then his eyebrows knitted. The red pools in his eyes became sharp once fixated on his mate simultaneously.
"Why is he all over you?"
