I groaned as I walked out of my class nearly surviving my teacher yell at me for being late.
"It's not like I did it on purpose..." I mumbled to myself.
I looked around the hall and caught a glimpse of drew seeing him quickly look away as I did.
I had to talk to him.
"Drew! Wait!"
He started quickly walking away leaving my line of sight.I tried pushing my way through the people when finally I caught up to him grabbing his arm.
He didn't turn around to look me in the eyes like he usually would whenever I did something like this.
"Drew we need to talk."
No response.
"About last night. I don't understand. I thought this was over. Just what did you mean?"
I felt him tense a bit. The halls started to get empty as everyone was most likely in their class by now. The tardy bell was about to ring.
"Andrew, please."
"Samantha," he jerked his arm off but stayed exactly where he was. "Not now. It'll all make sense later. But for now, we've got to get to class."
He turned to me, finally, showing his blank face with a forced small smile.
"I'll see you later."
He winked at me before walking off to his own class leaving me there only more confused then before.
I quickly started making my way to class as well not wanting to be late.
What was that? It's like he just got rid of all his feelings then tried to make things as they were before.
I walked into class just as the tardy bell rang and got to my seat.
Just what is going on in his head? Does he still like me? But why? Can I keep rejecting him? But now with the others-
"Miss Bright!"
I jumped to the sound of my name being yelled out and focused at the class around me.
"Uh, y-yes?"
"If you plan to daydream in class then don't bother coming in the first place."
I lowered my head as I heard a few chuckles in the room.
"Yes ma'am."
"Now that your in the class how about reading pages 195-196 in the book for us? It might keep you from drifting off into Lala land."
More laughs.
God my class is a bunch of second graders.
Just what I needed.
I got to the pages in the background ok she said and cleared my throat.
You are so going to pay for this Drew.
Just as I was about to start reading a classmate stopped me.
"Um, sorry to interrupt Mrs. Lawson but everyone in class are at different parts of the book and I think it would be better for us to read alone then for her to read out loud."
I looked over at who said that wanting to praise them like the god they were.
"That is true. Samantha, you're off the hook for now. You can thank Alice some other time."
I mouthed a 'thank you' to her anyway before turning back to my book.
"Ok class. Continue reading until chapter 19. After that, please answer the questions on the board. All questions due by Thursday. For those of you who don't know the concept of time, that's in two days. Get to work."
Everyone got to their books after hearing the sudden assignment but I looked back at Alice. She had long blonde hair that went a little past her shoulders and had glasses almost too big for her deep blue eyes. She looked up for a second and caught me staring at her. I started to panic until she smiled at me.
It was then I realized I should get to my work before Mrs. Lawson yells at me again.
I'd have to thank her personally though. After class of course.
I moved to the page I was actually at and took a quick glance at the questions on the board.
This should be easy. Class will be over before I know it. If I work, time will fly.
And then, I can get what I need to do, done.
