I had realised I was in Kora, which is different from my home, America, which had been put to ruin when monsters invaded. It seemed people from this place had ways to combat that.
In this world, there are people known as 'Challengers.' Challengers go into gates to beat monsters, and gain loot. Gate class were classed by how strong the boss monster was, from G-S+. G being the lowest, and S+ being the highest. Challengers were also ranked like that. The higher the class was, the better the rewards, which also meant the higher they could sell for.
People were also put into 'Classes', which were: Mage, Swordsman/woman, Lancer, Archer, and Healer.
Those were the base classes, but anyone could pick any profession they liked. My mother was a Healer, and that was how she healed me. People who had these special powers, known as 'skills', were called Awakened. Some people didn't awaken, however. A person is usually said to awaken in a situation that was life-or-death.
Abilities said person can use, is limited to their Type. These are called skills, which take up Mana. A person can increase their mana gauge by using Mana Cultivation & Meditation. If you say 'Status Window', a status window with your inventory, Stats, HP, Mana, and current skills & levels come up.
I had certainly changed. I was now quite tall, and my hair was onyx black, cut so it hung down over my eyes. My eye colour was amber, different from the cyan I was so used to seeing in the mirror.
My sister explained all this to me. I must say, learning to walk is easier than mana cultivation & mediation. However, it was easier, after all the time i spent as a Deity, it should be.
Closing my eyes, I began to meditate.
Trrrinnnggg, tringggg.
The doorbell rang, knocking me out of my stupor. A man with a letter handed it to my mother.
It was very clearly for me.
'To Mr Sung, you have been chosen to enter a gate of unknown rank. Although you are a...very interesting hunter, we do still need you for something.' At the age of 18, I still hadn't awakened. Somehow. I was basically the porter, only there to carry bags anyway. So I accepted, like the fool I was at the time. How wrong I was.
I didn't know what in the hell I had just gotten myself into.
