Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Seojun

SEOJUN'S POV:

The boy was very peculiar. Looking at his file in my hand, when he'd registered a few months ago, he was a G rank. His skills now were comparable to that of a D+, maybe even a C. Usually people could barely go from a D to a C in a few months, yet here he was, jumping 4 ranks in 3?!

I wore some skinny jeans, a top that left from just above my belly button to my waist exposed, a jacket with a hood, a cap with my honey brown hair in a bun, some sunglasses and a mask. The mask, cap, and sunglasses weren't for safety measures, just so people wouldn't recognise me as Seojun, the guildmaster of Taeyan.

We were meeting outside Seoul Station. i checked my watch. 2:50. Thankfully, I saw him walking up to me, as I didn't know what to do with 10 minutes.

"Do you want a coffee? I went to Starbucks, and I didn't know what you would like." I handed him the latte, which he took with a small smile.

Raising the cup to my lips, I drank. The effects of caffeine slowly started to sink in, and I began to feel more awake.

When he sat next to me, I turned. "Now, I must turn the conversation to business matters. I would like to ask you to join the Taeyan Guild."

Surely, he would accept? I am the Guildmaster, and this is an opportunity most wouldn't get! But for some reason, I was very skeptical he would.

As expected, he declined. "I can't….besides, I gave plans to create my own guild when I'm strong enough." He said.

"Then, I would like to invite you to the Seoul Station Raid that is commencing in a few months." I said to him.

He nodded. "I will join. However, I would like to do a gate dungeon with you." He asked. Hm….a request. However, for my super-rookie, I accepted.

I sighed. "Let's go, now then."

Standing up, and offering my hand to him, which he accepted, we began to walk. I didn't let go of his hand. Maybe it was because I felt some kind of comfort in it. I don't know, maybe I never will.

Approaching the dungeon we were going to, I turned to him. "Are you ready? You won't get a chance to equip anything you have now while we're in there."

He turned away from me, taking out a knife of some sort. Wasn't he a Swordsman…?

Well, as long as he could fight, I didn't really care. He had his secrets, I had mine.

Venturing inside, I took out my bow. This was an [Ice Elf] gate, meaning we had to be very cautious. Ice Elves were B Rank monsters and up. I could take them, but I don't think Sung Ho can.

Holding my bow up to my chest, I silenced my breathing. Note to self…but Sung Ho some clothes after this.

Sung Ho leaped between the branches of the trees, staying low.

Ice Elves are B Rank and above, meaning they are smart enough to speak and plan concentrated attacks.

They were waiting in camp. Sung Ho looked up at me. The only way this would work was if we planned a sneak attack.

I pointed my fingers forward. It seemed he was using the skill [Shadow Blend]. [Shadow Blend] allowed the user to disappeared and reappear at will, but only where a shadow was cast. He disappeared into the trees' shadows, and reappeared once more behind an elf, drawing the blade [Agrak's Claw] across it's neck. But how did he get a weapon like [Agrak's Claw]? [Agrak's Claw] was highly sought after in the auction market, because as the weapon levelled up, the effects increased too. It only has a 0.5% drop rate.

He disappeared once more, however they noticed him. It seems this wouldn't be as easy as I'd previously thought.

I activated the passive skill [Sniper's Scope], and zoomed in on their heads. Setting a target, I activated the authority skill [Crimson Rain]. Pulling back the drawstring, I fired into the sky. Crimson arrows rained down, destroying everything they touched.

The skill was the authority of the Deity [Goddess Of The Crimson Flame], someone who I'd been blessed by being the avatar of.

There were still a few more left. However, to my surprise, Sung Ho took care of them.

He used a very peculiar skill. It caused his blade to glow with a white light. He carved star pentagon in the air, and they appeared on the bodies of the Ice Elves that were left. "Seal!" He shouted, drawing the blade downwards across the air, and the blades of light took effect.

Leaping down, I confronted him about it.

"What was that skill just now?" It didn't seem like a skill that would be available to A D+ Rank, maybe an S Rank, but that was still a maybe.

He replied simply. "It was one of the authority skills I got from the Divine-Class God [Mikaela]."

[Mikaela]?

That was unusual. Mikaela was a legendary god. All the sources and history books stated that Mikaela had never had an avatar. Not because he wasn't interested in human lives. But because they would always do it themselves. It was stated that he would always go to Earth in the form of a mortal called Zach.

Mikaela was the one who had sealed the darkness of old, an immortal being who was said to be 'the Queen of the monsters'. Mikaela had many titles, 'Saviour of The Light' being one of them.

Somebody who had become his avatar?! Damn. And he'd declined my offer. Once word gets out that he was chosen by Mikaela, all of the other guilds will be after them, and they will go to all lengths to recruit him.

I internally facepalmed, sighing in regret. "Sung Ho, let's continue." I said. Waiting around wasn't going to help us finish this dungeon.

Drawing my bow once more, I stayed at his side. Allowing his to get hurt wouldn't do us both any good, it might impact our chances of finishing this dungeon without any losses.

After dealing with a few more of those camps, it was time for the boss fight. However, as this was a B Rank gate, we dealt with it quite easily.

"I don't want any of the drops," He said "I just needed to level up here."

What a weird and wonderful person. He sparked something within me. Curiosity, I think.

I would be seeing him again, and there was no doubt in my mind about that one.
