Note:This chapter is from Sung Ho's POV.
I faced my opponent. This guy.....something about him was annoying. Maybe it was the way he sauntered around? Or the fact that he hair looked like noodles? His name was Gugsu.
"My name is Gugsu Park," He said, while sauntering up to me "I hope you do well."
This bastard....what kind of a fool does he take me for?!
Anyway, now was the time to focus on the fight. From analysing his previous fights, it seemed he was around Lv30. I was Lv27 now, so he was stronger, but that didn't mean I couldn't beat him.
Up on a screen, there were our current rankings, and classes.
[Gugsu Park - Mage Class - D Rank]
[Sung-Ho Chen - Swordsman - G Rank]
People began to laugh as they saw my rank.
"Who the hell is he?"
"How did he get this far? Beginner's luck, most likely."
"What a waste of space. That could've been me there, you know."
Ignoring their ridiculous comments.
"So, are you trembling in fear?" Gugsu asked me.
No way. Not to this noodle-haired prick. I remembered Swordsman was the class I stated when I'd entered the Aeon Association, so I had to use it now.
"Match-Begin!" Seojun said in a loud voice, signaling it had started.
Gugsu began creating the AoE skill [Ring Of Fire]. [Ring Of Fire] is an AoE skill that continuously deals Burn damage to whoever is inside the ring.
For these one-on-one fights, Seojun had given us suits, which meant we wouldn't get hurt. what they did, was they had a light on your wristband, and one around your neck. When it glows green, it indicates you would be on full health, yellow is low health, and red indicated if this were a real fight with a monster you would be dead at that point, meaning you lose.
Due to the fact my different classes all had different levels, I had been training Swordsman for this day. As a swordsman, I could use any type of sword I wanted, so, for this battle I had picked a katana. I was Lv25 as a Swordsman, which meant there was a significant power gap between me and Noodle Boy over there....his name literally means Noodle....anyway, this was nothing I couldn't overcome. My Basic Sword Skills were Lv20.
I got caught in his AoE effect. The pain was lessened, but I could still feel it. Was the suit broken? "Grghh..." I grunted, catching myself, luckily. Due to the fact there was a delay before he could use another skill, I rushed in to attack.
Using the skill [Multi-Attack], I dealt quite a bit of damage to him, but it wasn't enough to close the damage gap between me and him.
Bringing my leg back and twisting my body sideways barely allowed me to dodge a beam of mana that came streaming out of his staff.
[Skill: Evade has been activated!]
As I dodged, it was clear he began to get aggravated, as he yelled "Stop dodging as attack me, you cowardly bastard!" The foolishness of the request actually made me want to attack him. But no, as dodging was a part of the plan.
All I had to do was aggravate him some more, and make him think he's won, so he lowers his guard. Then I'll use [Vengeance Of The Fallen] and win.
So, I continued with my plan. Phase 1 was complete. I had 'tripped' and he was now pointing his staff at me, not noticing he had left all his weak spots open.
"Hah, resistance is futile. I'm just too good." He said with that ridiculously smug smile. Knocking his staff away with my sword, i stood up, using my agility stat to dart away and then dart back in again. However, as I passed his side, I stuck up my middle finger. "F**k you, you Noodle-haired prick bastard." I smirked, raising my sword, activating [Vengeance Of The Fallen]. For some odd reason, the suit hadn't been functioning properly, and I'd been taking actual damage. That was how I could use this skill.
'That's for 300 hits, a**hole.' I thought to myself, and 300 sword slashes appeared on the suit in random directions, causing it to go red, meaning I'd won.
"How....could....I...lose?" He couldn't seem to comprehend the fact of what had just happened.
Seojun walked over to me, a....smile on her face.
She raised my hand into the air.
"We have our winner! Sung Ho, winner of The Ranking Test."
However, she whispered into my ear "Could we talk, tomorrow? Are you free around 3?" Although my ears were going pink, I nodded. With that, she walked off.
Stupid mortal emotion. However, I was wondering about that.
The S-Rank Aeon Seojun Chi wanted to talk to me, casually?
How....interesting.
