Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: I know nothing

Jeffrey was looking under his bed and he found it. He found success, it was just hiding there the whole time!

Hah, no just kidding. Jeffrey woke up, success wasn't that easy to find. Luck did stumble once in a while, like how a strong breeze could lift even the smallest wings of a butterfly.

Jeffrey heard more gossip as he was headed to class.

"Did you hear that Preston's selling slime?", a kid named Joey had a baseball cap said to his friend.

"Yeah, I bought one", Joey's friend replied.

"You did?!? How was it? I'm considering buying one from him", Joey put his hand to his chin thinking about it.

Jeffrey tuned out their conversation, it wasn't nice to eavesdrop. However he was excited to hear people talking about it, even if they didn't mention him.

"I've got a lot more work to do then", Jeffrey thought to himself.

Jeffrey made a mental note to talk to Preston later about why so many kids were interested now. Jeffrey was walking around when Connor from the ping pong table started walking toward him.

"Hey man, Do you still have any of that perfume slime?", Connor asked him.

"Yeah I have a few left, we're almost about to stop making them. Why?", Jeffrey asked.

"My little sister wants something to show off to her friends during show and tell for class. She heard about Amanda's sister bringing in glow-in-the dark Oobleck and she wanted to show hers off first", Connor explained.

"So that's what's going on. I wonder who's idea that was?", Jeffrey said to himself.

Jeffrey grabbed another jar from his bag.

"Man my stockpile of jars is like a Doraemon bag, I really need to bring a gym bag or the box later at this rate. My textbooks and science projects are getting to heavy for me to carry", Jeffrey made a mental note to himself.

"Here's a jar of perfume slime", Jeffrey handed to Connor.

"Thanks, here's the money", Connor handed Jeffrey the $20.

It wasn't the only jar Jeffrey had sold at school that day. It took about 3 weeks, but it seems like their science project was really getting off the ground.

Before it was even second period, Jeffrey had already sold 3 more jars of Slime Factory Oobleck and 2 jars of Perfume slime.

Off in the distance, Jeffrey saw a mob of people surrounding Preston and Samantha as they handed out their own jars of slime and Oobleck.

Jeffrey could see the crowd of kids getting a little agitated as there were about 10 kids asking for some.

"Hey I asked first", a tall 8th grader pushed some of the small kids in his path.

"I was here before you", one of the basketball kids Jackson stood next to him.

Jeffrey didn't expect that so many people would want it all at once. Jeffrey pushed his way to the front.

"Hey stop pushing", one of the kids complained

"Don't cut in line", another said to him.

Jeffrey waved his hand at Samantha and Preston. They waved back seeing Jeffrey arrive.

Jeffrey found one of the louder and rougher kids and pulled him to the side.

"If you can get everyone to be quiet and listen I'll make sure you get a jar at the end of the day", Jeffrey offered him.

The kid he pulled aside nodded and took a deep breath. "QUIET", he yelled

"THIS KID SELLING OOBLECK HAS SOMETHING TO SAY"

Now that one of the kids stopped fighting and everyone could hear him. They all paused for a moment. The line was a little disordered, but there was still some semblance that they tried to get organized.

Jeffrey started to speak, "Everyone, while we appreciate you all want a jar of the science project we've been working on. It's quite difficult for us to supply everyone with enough. As such we'll only sell 1 jar to anyone who wants one. However we may not have the type of slime or Oobleck you want, so please come to us with your name, grade, and type. We'll give you a jar that we have and you can exchange it tomorrow."

Jeffrey could hear a few grumbles, but he hoped it would get them through the day.

Samantha and Preston started to empty their bags as they started pulling out jar after jar. They were also collecting money and putting it in their bags. Samantha had put it in a wallet, while Preston had it snugly placed inside a book.

They all headed to class. One crises adverted however Jeffrey knew this was probably the beginning of one of the many small problems they'd encounter. They'd made it big, but how were they going to continue from here?
