Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Over there

Around noon, Preston's parents called to say that Preston had a dentist appointment and a piano lesson soon after.

"Mom, can I stay for a little while", Preston asked.

Preston's mom insisted that he go since they had to reschedule the last appointment due to his Piano recital.

So after eating lunch Preston's parents picked him up and they all waved goodbye. Jeffrey made sure to hand him the envelope for the second phase of their science project.

"See you at school Jeffrey", Preston said getting in the car.

"Yeah, I'll see you on Tuesday", Jeffrey said since it was a three day weekend.

Walking back inside, Samantha, Raine and Saoirse were busy competing at Just Dancing 3!

Oh oh, sometimes I get a good feeling, yeah

I get a feeling that I never never never never had before, no no

I get a good feeling, yeah

....

A hundred miles feelin' from the picture smile

Straight game face, it's game day

See me running through the crowd full of melee

No trick plays, I'm Bill Gates,

Oh oh, sometimes I get a good feeling, yeah

Jeffrey watched as the three of them started hanging low and following the dance moment on the screen. After a little while, Samantha won and his sisters wanted a rematch.

Samantha asked for a break and handed the controller to Jeffrey. Both his sisters started to pester Samantha. It seems in the short while that he had friends over, they thought Samantha was more fun than their boring brother.

Jeffrey started the next game however and Jeffrey cheated to get a head start on the game.

"Hey no fair", Raine grabbed onto Jeffrey.

Meanwhile Saoirse started to dance to get the points on the screen. Raine decided to attach herself to Jeffrey. Raine's score stayed at 0.

"Raine, get off of me. I thought you said you were going to try to win fair and square", Jeffrey was still in the lead, but Raine was constantly blocking him.

"Yeah, Saoirse is competing fair and square. If she wins then I win", Raine said trying to steal Jeffrey's controller.

"How is that fair? Also what do you mean if she wins, you win. That doesn't make sense", Jeffrey was tempted to give Saoirse a hug so that they both lost. Jeffrey still had a small lead in the game, but Saoirse was slowly catching up.

Getting to a particularly hard part, Saoirse handed the controller to Samantha who had gotten up from the couch.

"Et tu, Brutus?", Jeffrey said to Samantha.

"We're not in ancient Rome Jeffrey, plus like I said before. I'm on no one's side, although you're sisters seem to be beating you", Samantha teased.

Jeffrey now had both his sisters dragging him down.

Jeffrey acknowledged that he had lost, "Forget it"

Jeffrey sat down on the couch pinning his sister Raine underneath him in the process.

"Get off of me", Raine said to Jeffrey.

"Ask Saoirse to stop grabbing onto to me", Jeffrey responded.

"Saoirse, get off of Jeffrey", Raine told their sister.

As soon as Saoirse stopped grabbing him, Jeffrey released Raine. Raine's hair was in a little bit of a mess, but she still went after Jeffrey.

"I got off of you Raine, stop it", Jeffrey was chased by her.

Samantha had won the match and both his sisters cheered for their victory.

"Traitors, you're all traitors", Jeffrey cried foul.

"Sounds like someone's a sore loser", Saoirse whispered to Samantha and Raine.

"I heard that", Jeffrey pouted.

Overall it was quite an entertaining afternoon before Samantha had to leave. Raine and Saoirse went back to finish their homework and study the tests for next week. Raine got an 88 on her science test and their Dad wanted her to study what she got wrong. Saoirse went to ask their mom for help on a science project.

As Samantha was leaving, Jeffrey presented her with the white envelope with her name on it.

"Bye Jeffrey", she said with a bag full of Oobleck and slime.

"See ya Samantha", he waved as their car took off.

It was a hectic meeting, but Jeffrey was glad that everything was working out. It was definitely easier to have other people working with him, but Jeffrey still couldn't shake his habit of wanting to do his own thing and be alone. He was getting used to working with others, but he still had a lot to do before he was fully comfortable with it.
