Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Kind words

Eventually however their science project group took a break. They weren't going to spend the whole day doing their science project. Last time was more because they weren't really super comfortable and didn't really know what to do. In the end however, the still played a few games and sports.

Jeffrey's house was a little more modest, his neighborhood park was a bit small and although they could go for a walk there wasn't as much space or things to do.

The one thing Jeffrey did have however was a Nintensho Wi and three controllers. Some of the other consoles like the PSP, NDS, playsoft 3 and winbox 360 were a little to expensive. However maybe for Christmas he might get another console.

The Wi however did have 5-6 games they did play, Wi sports, Wi resort, Wi puzzles and play, some various brain games, Koopa Kart, Koopa Party and Just Dancing 3!

Jeffrey was hoping to beat his friends in the martial arts and fencing games on Wi resort, however Preston had the focus and reflexes of a gaming deity. There was one match where Preston closed his eyes and blocked all his attacks for a draw.

Jeffrey vehemently claims it was a fluke and denies that he just really sucks at the game.

Samantha, Jeffrey learned was really good at ping pong and tennis. So good in fact, that not even Jeffrey and Preston could come close to beating her working together.

Jeffrey resigned to losing, the only thing he was decent at was probably the Koopa party game. Similar to Monopoly, although everyone received more or less the same amount of money it always ended up in his pockets.

Jeffrey attracted a lot of aggro and hatred (in-game) from his friends because of it. They called him "Mr. Ebenezer" or "Mr. Moneybags" because win or lose his character always had the most amount of money.

Then his two sisters Raine and Saoirse joined the party.

"Hey big brother Jeffrey, can we play too?", Saoirse tugged on his shirt.

"Umm, do you mind until we finish this match?", Jeffrey asked falling of the track in Koopa Kart.

Saoirse pleaded with him, "Please?"

Jeffrey sighed a little, "fine, you can play."

At this point Jeffrey was really far behind and losing anyway, he still had a chance to compete. However he felt it wasn't worth it comparing to giving his little sisters a chance to play.

As Jeffrey became the IT tech guy, since it was his house and video game console. He connected the other spare controller and they played on a 4 player split screen.

Saoirse and Raine immediately jumped on, they both shared one controller. One would think as younger siblings they weren't as experienced or as good at the game as Preston and Samantha. However, they had two advantages. Preston and Samantha didn't play a lot of video games (and neither did Jeffrey for that matter).

They also liked to cooperate a lot since they were sisters. Jeffrey would often get his stash of Halloween candy stolen by the two of them and they had forged a strong bond of trust. Jeffrey was a little close to them as a friend, however they were practically inseperable and each others BFFs as they called it.

Soon enough they consistently shot Preston and Samantha to last place. Although they couldn't really beat the cpus, usually they stuck around 5th or 7th place. While Preston fluctuated between 3rd and 11th. Meanwhile Samantha had one 1st place finish, her two 12th place finishes really tanked her individual score.

Jeffrey tried to join in on the fun and take down the little sister mafia, he eventually found a solution by betraying his science team members. Jeffrey soon found himself stuck between upsetting the two sisters he lived with if he won, or his two project members who were now staring daggers at him.

Jeffrey wisely decided to sit this game out and watch them all play and compete.

Jeffrey went to the refrigerator to grab a couple of drinks. Grabbing a couple pouches of sugary Capri-suns, he stabbed his straw in the hole on the package. Jeffrey watched as Saoirse waited at finish line and dropped a bomb on Samantha.

"Saoirse", Samantha grabbed his little sister who was shrieking in terror.

Raine jumped in on the fun and was messing with Samantha's controller taking out the battery when she wasn't looking.

Jeffrey decided to intervene.

"Hey Samantha could you put down my sister", he said to his friend.

"But she started it", Samantha complained.

"Raine, I saw what you did", Jeffrey looked at her right hand.

Raine gave the battery back to Samantha. For a moment Samantha had a look of confusion on her face, before Preston whispered to her about checking her remote.

Samantha had the urge to tickle Jeffrey's sisters, but thought twice since their brother was stepping in. Samantha would get back at them one way or another though.

Preston calmly stayed out of the mess. He like Jeffrey wasn't going to try to offend any of the three girls, so he made sure to push Jeffrey to the sharks to deal with it.

"Nice job Saoirse", Preston complimented Jeffrey's youngest sister.

Saoirse looked at Jeffrey's friend suspiciously, Raine and Samantha were staring at each other.

"My parents told me not to talk to strangers I don't know well", Saoirse blew a raspberry at Preston.

Preston knew that she was joking with him, but Preston decided to let Saoirse win. Jeffrey's parents came downstairs.

"Hey guys could you be a little more quiet I'm in a meeting", Jeffrey's Dad said.

"Sorry Mr. Zhang, we'll be more quiet from now on", Preston responded.

Jeffrey's mom was cooking lunch and a little annoyed his dad was working on the weekend. However, Jeffrey's dad reassured her it only take 15 minutes and he'd help finish cooking.

Jeffrey somehow knew it wasn't going to take 15 minutes and they all resumed playing.
