Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

It was a cool morning in San Francisco, California. Keefe was reading the last book of his favorite series in his mother's library, wishing to be with the characters in the fairy's castle. Savoring every line, and convincing himself that he wasn't re-reading every line three times. His mother called out to Keefe, "Honey, can you come?"

"What do you want? Are the mice raiding your five hundred year old ancient cheeze?" Keefe's mom pointed to a stack of books, "not again, I am not putting these books away, I just want to read!"

"Keefe, you are going to put these books away, and you perfectly know that the cheese was one month old," his mom said.

"Try to make me, I am not doing it," Keefe said, burrowing his face into the book to "hide".

"IT-IS-AN-ORDER!" Keefe's mom yelled, panting in between breaths. Her face was red, just like the potato that smuggled a chipmunk's head last night.

"No," Keefe said. He runned away from his mom, dodging under her arm. He read a few words, imagining what it would be like to be a fairy and... The book started trembling, or maybe it was him, an orb of light swallowed him whole, making him a bit blind. Keefe now was standing on a polished floor in front of seven chairs glazed with gold, and embedded in diamonds, Keefe looked around, viewing the beautiful scenery, all of a sudden, a thought came to him, where am I? What's happening?... He looked around again realizing that he, him, was in the magical castle of fairies!

The castle ceiling was made of diamonds and rubies, with pictures of glowing light, murals of queens and kings nailed to the walls. Diamond chandeliers hanging from every ceiling tile. Keefe looked down from the ceiling and saw all the characters from his book. Keefe could name every single character.

"What happened to me?" Keefe said, not daring to move, afraid to break a rule, or trigger something to kill him. I'm being paranoid. "How did I get here?"

"You're in the castle of all the fairies. Doesn't everyone know that? You must be from far away to not know that."

"I'm from very far away. You probably don't know where I'm from."

"I know every single place in the magical world," the fairy said cokcliy, "Let me guess where you're from. You live on Mr. Farmer's farm."

"Nope," said Keefe. The fairy waved her arms back and forth,

"Well, hurry, come to our library, we would love for you to talk to us. And maybe you can learn some magic spells." Keefe liked the thought of that, picturing himself doing magical spells. Keefe and the magic fairy walked into the library. "Oh my gosh," said Keefe. "There are a lot of books in this library."

"Yeah, because there are a lot of spells," one of the fairies said. When they walked into the library, they sat down and the fairy took out a book on how to escape high security systems. "Here, let's read, but first, where are you from?

"Uuuuhhhh," Keefe said, "I'm from a very boring and very scientific one, the one called earth? You know?"

"What? You're from the scientific world? You're going to be hunted, pushed away, locked in dungeons, ki-" Keefe groaned.

"That's definitely making me feel better," he then thought of something, "Here, just give me one chance to learn, deal?"

"What's in for me though?" the fairy said. Keffe replied,

"I'll leave right after," Keefe said.

"Fine, but we usually don't allow people from the real world. How did you get here?"
