"You think I fall for those silly child stories about elves being users with shoes? The answer to the other question is no, I will not lead my elves to danger. We could easily make that many shoes," said the empress in a stubborn manner. All the elves nodded. "We'll make one thousand shoes. You could sell all the shoes to goblins and trolls after this war. You could use all that money to make a big feast for your elves. Think about it, your elves will be all so happy," Keefe said hoping this would work.
"We need our population to grow bigger, and you want us to help fight a war? Take him away! He's trying to ruin our kingdom. We already fought wars with you fairies, and we lost half of our population. We aren't meant to battle," said the Empress Elf. Guards surrounded Keefe. Keefe could easily break through the tiny elf's grip but he didn't want to get in a fight. It'd make it worse.
Time was passing by and he had to do this for the forest's sake. He let the elves take him away and yelled, "This is for your kingdom. If the forest gets lost your kingdom will fall. Your supply will fall. Your population will die out. Your acorns, food, and your shoes will all be decreasing. The kingdom's future is up to you," said Keefe. Maybe elves are as dumb as Mr. Farmer's pigs, Keefe thought.
It seemed like the Elf Empress was reasoning in her head and said, "Guards bring him to me." The guards were already panting while trying to hold Keefe back while he was talking. They sighed and made their journey back. "I will help you, but only under one condition. I don't want shoes. I want you fairies to cast a spell around our kingdom to protect it so no enemy can come in. I want you to grow us a tree that is new and not rotten for our kingdom."
Keefe sighed, this was a hard task, but it was worth it. He mumbled two spells and outside a tree started to grow bigger than the original one. All the elves started to cheer. "I did what you wanted, now can you come?" Keefe said. The empress lined up all their soldiers and they started to make their journey back to the fairy kingdom.
