The duo walked up the stairs.
"So tell me who this Mama Josie is?" he asked.
"Mama Josie's my friend. I met her here. She is a sweet kind old lady. She is actually the first oldie I ever talked with here. She always calls me her little angel." she explained with a smile.
"Why does she call you that?"
"Well, mama Josie has only one daughter. Her name is Josephine but everyone calls her Josie and that's why everyone calls her mama Josie. Josie seldomly visits her because of her busy schedule. But she comes over once in a while with her kids. She calls me her little angel because I always come over to keep her company and I also help her do other things."
"Things like what?"
"Well, sometimes I feed her or do her laundry."
"Really?" he asked somewhat surprised.
"Yeah I do." he let out a sigh.
"So tell me, how did you get to know this place?" he asked.
"Well, I got know this place about a year ago. After I graduated from college, I returned home. I wanted to get a job but my dad wouldn't let me." she explained.
"Why?"
"I don't know. He just didn't agree to it."
"Oh I see."
"So back to my explanation, I stayed home for three months doing nothing and my sister wasn't home to ease the boredom. I literally didn't go anywhere except when I go shopping and on Sundays when I follow my mum and dad to church. After three months, I decided to come out of my shell. I started going out to places and eventually, I found this place. Mama Josie was the old person I met. She welcomed me and introduced me to Kendra who happened to be her nurse. Over time, I became familiar with this place and I got to know a lot of oldies here. I always came to visit until I eventually got married to you. I haven't been able to come see them since then." she explained. He held her hand looked her in the eyes.
"Hailey, I'm not stopping you from seeing them neither am I preventing you from from going out. You can see them whenever you want, okay?" he said to her giving her assurance.
"Okay Jeremy. Thank you." she answered and hugged him.
"Can we go now and see your Mama Josie?" he asked.
"Yes." she answered with a smile. The duo got mama Josie's room and entered the room. The doctor was attending to her. He was giving her prescriptions. Mama Josie was under special care.
"I've made your prescriptions Mama Josie. I'll give it to nurse Kendra so she can get the drugs for you." the doctor said to her.
"Thank you doctor." she thanked him.
"You're welcome. Excuse me, let me leave you to your guests." he said and left the room. Hailey sat next to mama Josie on the bed.
"Well, well if it isn't my little angel. You came to see me today." she said and Hailey smiled.
"How are you doing mama Josie?" she asked.
"I'm fine dear. Thank you for asking. And who's the fine young man with you?" she asked.
"Pardon my manners ma'am, this is my husband Jeremy. Jeremy this is mama Josie." she introduced them to each other.
"A pleasure to meet you Mama Josie."
"The pleasure is all mine. And how are you?"
"I'm fine ma'am." he answered and she chuckled softly.
"Hailey you never told me you were married now. You two make a fine couple." she said.
"Thanks Mama Josie. I'm sorry I didn't come to tell you about it." she apologized.
"There's no problem. You're still my little angel." she answered and Hailey hugged her.
"Josie came over last week and she asked of you." she told her.
"Really? How's she and the kids?"
" They're fine. Josie sends her regards." They spent sometime with Mama Josie and she really enjoyed the time they spent with her.
After seeing Mama Josie, the duo also went to hang out with the other oldies. They spent a long time in the retirement home. They decided to go home.
"Hope to see you soon Hailey." Kendra said to her.
"You too nurse Kendra." she replied and hugged her. They waved good bye and left.
"Thank you for today Jeremy."
"You're welcome Hailey. Those oldies made me crack my ribs today." he said and they laughed.
"But today was quite fun." he stated.
"Yeah it was!" She chipped in. They continued their drive home
